Everything works like the description says the battery pocket is a little difficult to open but you'll figure it out. I haven't dropped it yet usually that's where the real test comes in nowadays with plastic from China so the first time I do let it hit the floor I'll let you know what happens. Update I still haven't dropped it yet and I still love it. I use it every day I cook with a deep fryer and fried chicken especially!!! ... show more

    • Works well, with a small quirk
A very useful tool to have. I have used it to verify proper functioning of air conditioners, as it is good for negative degrees (super cold) as well as positive degrees (heat). I have also used it to verify the efficiency of different roof materials to figure out in practice which is better to keep a house cool in the summer. The laser pointer helps with the accuracy of the surface you're reading, which is larger the farther away it is from the device. Think of a flashlight beam that gets bigger the farther away it gets from the flashlight. My only pet peeve with this device is that sometimes there are several, rapid misfires of the trigger, even when holding it very tightly. This makes the device take more than one reading per second and because the thermometer beeps on each reading, it beeps rapidly many times per second. Unfortunately, you cannot disable the beep unless you were to disassemble it and cut out the wires, which I won't bother doing. For what it's worth, it's a good device and a tool that's very useful and convenient to have around. ... show more
