Overall, this is a nice kit that is easier on the wallet than the more popular name brands. As other reviews have mentioned, NO instructions are included, but it wasn't too difficult to figure out how to assemble the pieces and replace the factory filter box along with the intake tube in my 2003 Tahoe. The filter itself is large and is a tight fit. The small rubber boot is a little loose on the MAF sensor before tightening the hose clamp. Upon opening the box, the stainless intake tube was a little scuffed, but could easily be cleaned and polished if you like shiny objects under your hood. I took my time and wasn’t in a rush, installation took maybe an hour to an hour and a half. While driving, the sound in the cabin is definitely noticeable under load, but was close to stock during normal cruising. I assume most people who get this will already have a louder exhaust and will be accustomed to increased engine noise. This is a worthy kit if you are considering a generic intake kit for your ‘99-06 GM truck or SUV. I consider this a quality kit in the under $70 range. Note: I had the opportunity to compare both Marsflex kits: APEN23001-M1 APEN23001-M2 During a side-by-side comparison, I found no differences between the two kits.     • Instant increase in mileage and performance at a fraction of competitor's price!
As an old-school car guy I have built many performance cars and engines, improving the intake from factory systems is an absolute no-brainer on all but the most high-performance factory cars. This unit does that instantly. While I don't have current access to a Dynamometer (measures Horsepower), nor does this truck warrant it as it's not a race truck just a daily driver. I can "feel" the increased performance and while winter driving with Defroster (runs A/C compressor for more load on engine and lower mileage), driving through snow, using 4WD - all factors to reduce mileage - I've seen a 5-8mpg increase in just two tanks. I expect this to be 10-12mpg or more in summer driving. As such this would pay for itself in very short order. Add to that the washable filter as opposed to using disposable filters there is additional savings/return on investment. The build quality is good, the installation is easy and straight forward (anyone with average mechanical skills can handle this with ease) and even the heat shield to keep cooler air going into the engine is a smart design feature. As a Vine Reviewer I received this product free of charge, however nobody "buys" a 5-star review.     • Nice kit but lacks instructions
The filter kit comes with everything you would need to do a installation. The material and the hardware are all made well and is exactly what you would need to convert your old style to this cold air intake one. The biggest issue I have with this kit is that it comes with no instructions on how to install it. I find this important because it isn't a simple plug and play kit and you have to do a few modifications to your existing equipment to make this work. I give a big shout out to reviewer MDCF who added a great review with pics and instructions to help people install it properly. I used his review to help me figure out how to install it. A very complete kit with quality components. The air box is coated and easy to assemble. The aluminum tube is nicely polished and shaped correctly, however too long. The silicone boots are soft, flexible and easy to position without lube. The included stainless worm gear clamps tighten enough to get the job done. Now, it could be assembled as is, out of the box. Since there is no instructions included, I found a couple of pics that demonstrated an install like that, no modifications. That approach didn't look right under my hood, so I elected to trim 2" off the aluminum pipe at the air cleaner end. Doing so allowed their air cleaner fixtures to fit the box properly and made a better seal from the engine bay. Overall, it is a good kit for the money for anyone handy with tools and comfortable under the hood. The lack of any direction whatsoever caused me to with hold one star. If you are capable of installing something like this, then it is worth the cost and I have no problem recommending purchasing. Performance is as expected, a little better throttle response and more rumble between the ears of the owner (me). Have not checked fuel mileage yet, and I don't anticipate any change there. If you're dependant on instructions, this is a 4- star product. No installation instructions are included. The parts were all included and honestly, if you have done any creative mechanic work then you'll be fine. Quality is good and everything fits with a little negotiation. I'm sure they intended you to remove the OEM plate under the stock air box but you can see from the picture that it leaves a huge hole under the intake that could induce water and debris. I removed the plate, installed LOOSELY all the heat shields and then put the plate on top. Leave all of the heat shield hardware loose and tighten down the base plate first. Note: all of the pictures in the ad except one show no MAF installed. If you have no MAF the install will be easier and not require some of the parts. Once installed I was happy with the sound. I don't have access to a dyno so I won't try and convince you of huge torque or horsepower gains but whether or not it improved power, I seemed to notice a difference in throttle response.
