  • Fish tank.
Size: 10 gallon Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
The price was a lot better than getting it at the PetSmart or Petco. I'm very happy with it. Thank you.

  • Perfect 10 gallon tank!
Size: 10 gallon Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I did a lot of research before deciding on this 10 gallon Marina tank. It was the tank kit that consistently showed up on internet reviews as one of the top tanks, especially for beginners. The filter is excellent and very quiet, the lighting is beautiful, and it's spacious digs for my son's Betta fish! I love that it came with small bottles of both the "Fluval Cycle biological enhancer" and the "Fluval chlorine/water purifier." My son had of course, against my advice, ran out and bought the betta fish before the tank was even set up. I was nervous because the tank had not yet been "cycled," meaning that it had not been filled with water, had the filter running, and had the chance to cycle to develop good bacteria on it's own, which typically takes about 4-6 weeks. Because this kit came with a bottle of the "Fluval Cycle biological enhancer," I was able to add the Betta fish the same day as setting up the tank (which is not recommended if you can help it, but it luckily worked out ok in this instance). I also used Poland Spring water to fill the tank instead of my tap water, along with of course adding the recommended doses from the bottles of the provided Fluval chlorine purifier and biological enhancer. The filter on this tank is excellent and I like that it has 3 separate cartridges, so you can change one every few months (never change them all at once or it will throw off the cycling of your tank). Only changing one filter at a time maintains the good bacteria growing on the other filters in the tank. There are also some youtube videos available on how to modify/replace the filter cartridges with other "media" so they don't need to be changed regularly, which I have already started doing. It's also better for the long term cycling of the tank to not get rid of cartridges on a regular basis (don't do it every 2-4 weeks like the directions say!), since there is so much good bacteria on the cartridges which helps the tank stay healthy, and you don't want to throw that away. I purchased a Eheim heater separately, which is a nice fit in this tank. I also purchased two thermometers separately, one digital one and one traditional one, and put them on opposite sides of the tank. Also, really important, make sure that you have a good place to put this tank, because once it has water in it, it is SUPER heavy, over 100 pounds! I had not thought of this until a few days before the tank arrived, so I ran out and purchased a fish tank stand at a local pet store which could support the weight. You don't want to risk just putting it on a regular piece of furniture because of how incredibly heavy it is once it is filled with water. One negative is that the lid does not have a hinge on it, it comes completely off when opening it all the way. It's a minor inconvenience as we mostly use the open feeding hole in the top right corner to feed our betta. Overall an excellent tank kit!! It's been over a month now, and our betta is happy and healthy and we are thrilled with our purchase! ... show more

Best kit available for quality and price. The light is suufficient for Jungle val, Cabomaba carilinaina, anubia, java fern, java moss, and my frogbit and water lettuce. I have rapid growth rates and multiply my plants every few days with the light that comes in the hood. I did use filter sponges instead of the cartridges, im about efficiency and longevity. • Nice starter kit, very happy
Size: 10 gallon Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
It’s a 10 gallon glass tank, that comes with a LED lighted hood, and a nice filter… in addition it came with a small bottle of tap water treatment, a bacteria starter, stick on thermometer, tropical fish food, and a net. It does not come with a heater, so you will need to buy one separate. Overall, a decent starter kit. I like the filter quality, it uses 3 filters; replacements are very reasonable. We bought the 10 gallon as it was on sale or at least priced less than the 5 gallon from the same manufacturer. So far very happy with purchase. It was quite easy to set everything up. We haven’t gotten our fish yet, as I set the tank up yesterday, but they are coming soon… as well as some live plants. Would recommend to others wanting a nice kit to get them started. ... show more

  • This seemed like a nice way to get started
Size: 20 gallon Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This seemed like a nice way to get started. Everything in one box. It showed up and I opened the box and everything looked good. I picked up a "Freshwater Aquariums for Dummies" book at the library after I placed my order. After doing some reading, I went to the local pet store and picked up some gravel, a water test kit, and a heater. (This kit doesn't come with a heater.) So I put the tank in place on my desk, which has a trestle based design made from 2x10s and a solid core oak door for a top. The aquarium sat parrell right on top of a supporting 2x10 below the top. So I did all the preliminary work and then started filling up the aquarium. When the water level was approaching the top, it started leaking from one of the top corners and very quickly what I think was a small crack turned into a big one and I had 10 or 15 gallons of water on the floor and my desk. Luckily, we have an unfinished basement, so the water that leaked through the floor just ended up on the basement floor and eventually down a floor drain. I grabbed my shop vac and sucked the rest of water out of the tank (and most of the gravel too). I then vacuumed as much water up as I could from the floor and the heating return. I used a portable heated to dry the floor out. It didn't buckle, so I lucked out. So... I got online and requested a return for the item, which Amazon granted without hesitation. Having had enough fun for one day, I decided to wait a few days before packing up the mess and returning it to Amazon. I spent about four hours on the cleanup and now I have to package up this piece of garbage and lug it over to the UPS store. The cost for the item was a little over $100 dollars. The more I thought about it, the more ticked off I became. So today I called Amazon and spoke to a representative. I told him to cancel the return. Further aggravation just wasn't worth 100 bucks. Sure, if it were $1000, I would have packed it up and returned it. I threw the whole mess in the garbage can and instantly felt better. I'm sure I'll still order some things from Amazon, but I'm going to cut way back. Even it's some brand name product, I'm not sure I would want it from Amazon. You don't really save that much money and if there is a problem, get ready to do some work. The fish tank was especially bad because of the cleanup. I live in Chicago. You can find just about anything you need around here. I just don't feel Amazon is what it use to be. As I said, Amazon was more than happy to give me a refund. When I called to cancel the cancellation of the order - I just wanted some human at Amazon to know why. I doubt it will do much good. Probably no one other than the representative will here that story. ... show more
