  • Fast, easy to use and very secure
  • Quick release mechanism suitable for heavy pro equipment

Description

This adaptor allows you to fit the Manfrotto Q6 Top Lock quick release system to an existing photo head. The Top Lock system has been developed to offer photographers a fast, easy to use and very secure camera quick release mechanism suitable for heavy pro equipment. The camera plate clicks into the clamp from above, and as soon as it engages, it triggers a safety pin that stops the plate and camera from sliding out accidentally. Even before the clamp is locked, the camera is securely supported. Made from lightweight aluminum, the clamp has 3 bubble spirit levels (one for each axis of rotation) to facilitate precise framing and help produce straight images in-camera, ensuring the camera's full frame is usable and reducing post-production time. A Q6 Arca-compatible plate is supplied with the adaptor. Spare plates can be purchased separately. • A big improvement to my Manfrotto ball head.
BIG improvement in locking down my camera. BIG improvement in my peace of mind. Worth every penny.

  • Very good clamp/plate system, however, Manfrotto MSQ6 clamp is not compatible with many Arca Swiss type plates
As mentioned in another review, the Manfrotto MSQ6 clamp is not compatible with many Arca Swiss type plates. In my experience/contact with vendors this includes plates from Kirk, Really Right Stuff and ProGear. I have been researching L-brackets and have found only Manfrotto's compatible. Otherwise the Manfrotto MSQ6 clamp and plate system works quite well. I retrofitted the Manfrotto 486RC4 heads on both my tripod and my wife's The MQQ6 system is far superior in operation to the RC4 plates we had used for seven years, with much frustration. The RC4 clamp/plate system is heavy, bulky and does not release easily. I often had to assist my wife, as she found the release/safety lever very hard to operate. ... show more

  • Arca Adaptor
A well made & designed adaptor plate from Manfrotto. I was getting irritated with the standard Manfrotto camera quick -release plates because of their total lack of compatibility with my other equipment like straps, clips, other tripods, etc., so this adaptor changes everything for me. Easy to install too. ... show more

  • It's Good, As Long As It Doesn't Break (Mine Failed, twice)
**Updated to 1 star because Manfrotto support is garbage** I've reached out several times and once was told check back later (blown off). Other inquiries have gone unanswered. Pretty sad when you spend this kind of money on a product, that the company doesn't care to support its products. I'll look for other brands. I ordered a second plate and am now having similar issues where it doesn't open fully. This product is not designed well. The mechanism is a spring that's depressed and there's literally a chopped off piece of plastic tubing inside to hold everything down and push the clamp down. The backing that holds this whole mechanism together is also plastic, screwed into the metal assembly. Instead of working properly, the plastic cover over the assembly bulges outward and causes the clamp to not release properly, rendering this entire plate, completely useless... Firstly, I ordered from Hunts Photo and Video. Many people are saying this is used, and I can tell you it's not. The silver "worn" appearance being shown is from the coarse black metal of the part moving around inside of a shiny silver box, which comes off and gives the appearance the part you ordered is worn and used. I wiped it off easily and could tell after thorough inspection, the part is new, as in never used. I gave it 3 stars because it works great, but I've had to replace one of these already as the spring mechanism fails to retract fully, so I can't get my camera OFF the ballhead, and when it retracts, it gets stuck until I pop the release plate up and it snaps back. I've reached out to Manfrotto support who gave me a response stating "This part has changed. We do not have any right now, try back in 3 weeks." which I thought was odd, as well as not very professional. No case was created and no further information was taken. You can order just about any piece of this device from Manfrotto yourself, to repair it. I ordered a "Used" ball head from Amazon which came with a faulty top lock mechanism. Thankfully Amazon was able to compensate me for the cost of replacing it. It fastens to the ball head via a single allen key, which is provided. You can use these to replace your RC2 mounts, so all can use the same Arca Swiss plates that your L Plates all use, etc. Also, there's no anti-slip measures on the plates, and they're much larger than they need to be. I've ordered spare plates from Breakthrough Photography and have had very good luck with them, for a great price. ... show more

  • OK IF YOU DON'T USE rEALLY RIGHT STUFF BRACKETS AND PLATES
Would not work with RRS brackets on my cameras and RRS plates. Seems RRS makes their Arca type groves a little thicker than other brands. Disappointing since the safety mechanism in this clamp works well. Once the plate snaps in it will not allow the plate to come off without pushing a release button and it works very quickly, I tried it on some off brand plates I use on my lenses. I May need to find a new bracket manufacturer and keep this clamp. ... show more
