- Tool-Free & Quick Installation: This V mount battery plate integrates a baseplate for Arca type and a V-lock, which can quickly install mirrorless / DSLR cameras and V mount battery without tools; Stretchable design, so that this baseplate can be stretched up to 36.5 mm / 1.43 inch. All-in-One mounting solution for Sony FX3 / A7 IV / A7S III, for Canon EOS R5 / R5 C / R6, for Panasonic S5 / GH5, for Nikon Z8, and for mirrorless / DSLR cameras less than 111mm thick.
- Modular & Anti-deflection Design: A detachable plate for Arca-type at the bottom allows quick switching between handheld and tripod shooting and is interchangeable with other quick release plates. After removing the plate for Arca-type, there are 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 forward screw holes at the bottom. When installing for Manfrotto plate and tripod, this two-point locking design can prevent deviation.
- Foldable & Lightweight Design: The V mount battery plate can be folded and adjusted by 180. Fold forward for convenient storage, makes it very compact, only 3 cm thick and weigh 230g. Fold backward for enough space to open the camera flip screen. This design does not need you to remove the battery first, which saves time effectively. Perfect for run-and-gun filmmakers needing fast scene transitions between studio, field, and travel.
- Gear structure & pivot dampening: The gear locking structure is adopted between the baseplate and the V mount battery plate. After install the V mount battery VB212(1345g), it will not shake even in running shooting, which is more stable. After loosening the lock, its damping rotation design can also prevent sudden fall and ensure the safety of the equipment.
- Ergonomic Design: With the buckle design, the camera can be easily locked and removed even with a large lens, without blocking the lens. The V mount battery plate locking knob is designed on the left side, which is more in line with the actual use requirements.
- More Possibilities for Expansion: The built-in 1/4"-20 threaded holes and a mini V-mount plate provide more expansion solutions by attaching a NP-F battery plate (3168B), mounting a power bank holder (BUB2336), or installing a wireless video transmitter with magic arm (3874).

I picked up this SmallRig Foldable V-Mount Battery Plate for my Sony FX3 before heading to NAB 2025, and it performed great on day one. It connects solidly to the bottom of the camera and feels super sturdy — definitely a well-built piece of gear. That said, with a fully rigged setup and V-mount battery, the added weight was a bit much for handheld use over multiple days, so I went lighter for the rest of the show. But if you’re in a studio environment or using a tripod, this is an excellent solution for extended power without compromise. One less thing to worry about on set!

After writing a bad review, Smallrig was kind enough to reach out to me and help resolve my issue! Thanks Smallrig! old review: Read before you buy!!! I purchased this along with Smallrigs expensive V99 battery, and all I can say that they are not compatible. When the battery is attached I am able to wiggle it apart. You can see that the plate is not in tolerance and is off by a few milimeters, just enough for the plate to be twisted off. I have never expirienced this with vmounts before. I am SO DISSAPOINTED! Heres my review for the V99: NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I have this battery along with Smallrigs Vmount battery plate. When I attach the V99 battery to the vmount plate, I noticed I am able to wiggle it apart/off. BEWARE the vmount is not secure, I already dropped my battery from resting my rig against my chest. So I sandwiched an extra plate that comes with the Smallrig Vmount plate and seems to be secure but is only held with one 1/4”-20 screw. These are both Smallrig products, I’m not understanding why I need to install a second plate for it to work, for such an expensive item and all the advertising they have with the two, you would think they are compatible together, get it right smallrig! Hopefully Smallrig revises these Vmount locking plates asap or I will be going back to my FXLions.

So far I don't have any complaints. I have a Canon R7 and Smallrig cage. The cage's ARCA base shape allows it to slide into the baseplate perfectly. I'm not thrilled about the idea of the lever locks, but so far they have been holding nice and tightly. One thing to consider is having a smaller capacity battery for handholding.

This is everything I could have hoped for when building out a compact video rig with a Sony A7IV. I wanted to keep things compact and simple without using rails and this combined with the Smallrig V mount batteries fit the bill. My camera cage locks right into it and I have no need for a power distribution plate with the ports available on the batteries plus it is already arca compatible to put on a tripod. This combination keeps everything simple and saved me plenty of money not needing all the parts of a more traditional rig.

This is a small, but great and convenient v mount battery plate rig. I’m able to use the same mounting plate for my DJI rs3 pro, to switch to handheld on this. It’s quick and easy. My only problem is the time and energy it takes to securely lock the battery plate upright.
