Description

Landscapers and contractors are demanding more cordless alternatives to gas- powered outdoor power equipment. Makita is meeting demand with an expanding line of cordless OPE, including the 18V LXT® Brushless Chain Saw (model XCU11Z, tool only, batteries, and charger sold separately). With zero emissions, lower noise, and considerably less maintenance, the XCU11Z is a welcome solution for cutting and trimming applications. It’s powered by one 18V LXT® battery, the same fast-charging battery that powers the full range of products in the expanding LXT® System. The efficient Makita brushless motor allows users to get high power efficiency that is equivalent to a gas chain saw, performing up to 73 cuts in 4x4 cedar with an 18V LXT® 4.0Ah battery. The XCU11 has a 14” guide bar and the Makita-built motor with variable speed delivers 0- 1,520 FPM for increased cutting speed. It has zero emissions and reduced maintenance: there's no engine oil to change, no spark plug to replace, and no air filter or muffler to clean. And there's no need to drain the fuel for storage. Simply pick it up, load an 18V LXT® battery, and the saw is ready to use. Convenience features include "tool-less" chain adjustments, a front hand guard engineered to actuate chain brake when engaged, an electric brake for maximum productivity, and more. Convenience features include a large oil filling port with a viewing window that allows the operator to easily add and check the bar oil level, a rubberized soft grip top handle that is engineered for the user to more easily apply even cutting pressure, and a compact body with rear handle design for easy maneuverability. It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium- Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

  • Quiet, effective, impressive chainsaw
Excellent chainsaw. This saw does exactly what I bought it to do around the yard and my wooded area. It cuts better than my old 13” gas powered saw. It is lighter, handles well in tight spots and is quiet. Its battery life is reasonable--take a spare or two for longer sessions. The chain is simple to adjust. I only need to check/add chain oil occasionally depending on use. No mixing gas/oil or dealing with an aggravating carburetor. I’m very pleased with this purchase. ... show more

  • Good Little Saw
I bought this because a 10 inch tree ( at the base ) fell on my property on New Years Day.The tree was pine and was semi-dead. I looked at a review on this saw by TGL on YouTube and I liked it .This is a good saw for cutting off small limbs, and pruning and cutting up small trees .It is very easy to assemble and use. Is it a Stihl Farm Boss ? No it’s not,but it’s great for little jobs and cleanups , it was 139 bucks ( no battery, but I have 5 Makita batteries and 2 chargers already) Low noise,no fumes, very nice saw,and I used it when it was 21 degrees out and it cut like a champ on a 5 amp battery ... show more

  • Braaaaappp. Good electric chainsaw, taking down trees
Chainsaw runs through batteries, large battery lasts 20 minutes of tough usage, works great though and happy with purchase, should last a long time!

  • Exceptional!!!!
I bought this saw to take out to do power restoration during storm situations and as a lineman I’ve seen some saws have to some heavy work so I was a bit reluctant with this purchase but found that on the very first storm, I got this saw out and it preformed like a professional, strong, fast saw. It was light but cut like a heavyweight! Love it, use it, don’t go out without it!!!! ... show more

  • Good buy
It works well just needs the grip bar on the front and don't cut anything more than 6 in or it takes the life out of the battery daily quick but for small limbs it works great. I would buy again when this one dies.

  • Good medium duty saw
Love this chainsaw, just need to keep in mind what it is designed for. Works great for rough cutting 6x6 lumber, pruning low branches, cutting up a brush pile for disposal, firewood. Grab and go, easy, quiet, no fuel or starting problems to deal with. I read some comments about it leaking oil so I left it sitting on a piece of clean cardboard for a few weeks. No leaks here yet. Maybe they had excess oil from heavy use dripping from the chain. Or maybe just unfamiliarity with chainsaw design and how the chain spits oil sometimes during use (or maybe some leak, but this one doesn't). Have to remember to check the chain occasionally and tighten it - it won't stay locked in like a pro saw does. Maybe tool-less design wasn't the best idea. If the chain comes off - you forgot to check the tension. Plenty of power for light to medium tasks. But for sectioning a downed tree I grab my Stihl MS260. One thing to be wary of that others have mentioned and it's true: When a gas saw is running it is a loud beast and we are naturally very careful. This thing seems like a gentle puppy when it's on - but it bites the same. Tip: The kit comes with a 4AH battery and the standard 2.6 amp charger. I bought the tool only, and then added the 5AH battery kit. This means a better battery and the 9 amp rapid charger for about the same price. ... show more

  • Great well made light weight saw
Typical Makita high quality, well designed, love the quick chain tensioner, uses the same 18v battery as all my other Makita tools. High value for the price.

  • Great chainsaw
This is great, light weight and easy to use. It was just right for my small to medium trees. I had the batteries from my lawn mower. The battery lasted a long time and it didn't drain the battery.
