Description

Compressors are workhorse tools on the job site and in the work shop. Makita® Air Compressors are favorites for their faster recovery time, lower noise, longer tool life, and consistent performance. The Makita® Quiet Series 1-1/2 HP, 3 Gallon, Oil-Free, Electric Air Compressor (MAC320Q) features a Quiet Series Design, combining strong performance with lower noise. At only 60 dBA, it’s ideal for indoor use during case and base installation, trim and finish carpentry, cabinet or furniture making, and more. The MAC320Q runs at a lower RPM, resulting in longer motor and pump life. It is powered by an efficient 1-1/2 horsepower induction motor that provides up to 90 PSI. It also features a lightweight design (only 52.5 lbs.) for increased portability. The roll-cage construction provides added protection for the pump and motor assembly during transportation, in storage, and on the job site. Additional features include a low AMP draw that reduces the incidents of tripped breakers at start-up, an oil-free dual-piston pump designed for maintenance-free operation, and hooks for convenient AC power cord storage.

  • Awesome. Get it.
I love this thing! I tested it with a framing gun and it would have no problem keeping up with me, I’m not sure about peppering sheathing. I’ve mostly been using it in the shop , airing up tires, blowing dirt off mechanic projects. It’s so quiet compared old thunder suck. I got a great deal on it too. Get it. ... show more

  • Solid, quiet compressor
No complaints about this compressor. It's quiet but has enough capacity to keep up with any jobs that I've used it for; refilling tires, finish nailers.

  • Great little compressor.
I’m a finish carpenter , 25 years of woodworking experience. I have owned or used many brands over the years. Makita’s miter saws were a fav. of mine. My first impact drill was a Makita 12v it was a beast had an all metal housing would drive 6” lags into posts. Then I bought the 18v combo for like 700 when it was first released. All junk the impact wasn’t even close to the power or quality of my old 12v. The hammer drill broke while I was working on a very time sensitive project. Found out it had all plastic gears and was unrepairable. Long story short I have mostly yellow and red tools now. Bought this compressor to replace a cheap pancake that died. It’s not as quiet as I hoped but working well. Can keep up with two guns nailing trim. I don’t know if their current line of 18v tools are made any better because I won’t buy them again. They can make awesome tools and still do but choose to make cheap junk for us in the states. Guarantee you..they don’t not try to sell the same garbage in Japan. Not sure why they thought doing so in the states would be a smart move. I would Ryobi over Makita in cordless tools right now if had to choose between the two. ... show more

  • Great value
I've only been using this for 2 weeks. It seems to be a good compressor and I don't really have anything too negative to say about it. But I'm leaving this review mostly to compare it to the 4610 model of another brand. These 2 compressors are the most comparable compressors on the market and there's little to no comparison of the 2 to be found. I have been through 3 of the 4610's and although they are over all good compressors there's a few things about them I don't like. First off the manifolds are made of pot metal and easily break. They aren't cheap to replace. The first one I had broke from hitting a speed bump at 20 mph. Just the the jar broke it. The second one broke in a minor wreck where it bumped into the side of the truck bed. The third one broke from simply unscrewing the quick connect to replace it. The manifold and switch sit up high and are vulnerable in the back of a truck where ladders or wood might rub or bump against them. The little hose going to the pressure switch is junk and easily breaks inside the switch or inside the tank making it a big hassle to repair. The assembly process lacks a bit to be desired. The first one I had the wires inside the switch were never crimped to the connectors and were loose under the cover. Luckily I was able to find the problem without electrocuting myself but it could have easily been a shocking experience. The second one I got they didn't wire it to the windings properly and it eventually burnt up after about a year. All these problems are known and they've never been addressed by the manufacturer. Simply using a better manifold would make them a 5 star compressor. Making the manifold more affordable would make them a 4 star compressor. So needless to say I was looking for a different brand this time around. That's where the Makita comes in. Without doubt it's a good little compressor. The fit and finish and attention to detail is way above the 4610. But there are some drawbacks too. First is the weight. There's only a 10 pound difference between the 2 but because of the way the frame is shaped and the location of the handle it feels like a lot more. If Makita used an aluminum tank this would be the best compressor on the market. But the frame is a trade off. It makes the profile lower and less vulnerable or in the way on the back of a truck. But it also makes it more difficult to carry. You can also only carry it with the motor side against your leg. With the 4610's position of the handle you can really carry it in either direction. The 4610 is also a bit quieter than the Makita. I don't want to say how much because I would just be guessing but it is easily noticeable. The other differences are detailed in the item descriptions, I just wanted to touch on some of the other things. After using them both I really can't make a suggestion between the 2. I actually came here to see how much it would be to send the Makita back and get the 4610. It's $31 so I will be keeping it. I'm not disappointed to keep it by any means. But I'm a carpenter and will be carrying this thing into people's homes and often up a staircase to the second floor. Sure wish it had an aluminum tank...... You can't really go wrong with either one. The Makita is heavier and more awkward to carry but seems better built. The 4610 has more tank capacity but weighs 10 pounds less. I have both and still can't decide which one I prefer or would recommend so good luck! One more thing: Even though the Makita has less capacity all 3 of my 4610's would get a small leak somewhere after a few months. This would make the motor kick on more often. So if the Makita doesn't produce any leaks then I think difference in capacity will be offset resulting in comparable run time on the motors. It's only a theory so we'll see. ... show more

  • This one will not wake the neighbors!
After trying two other major brands, I can guarantee you.,This machine is definitely half the noise or better of the rest of the market. As simple as taking it out of the box and plugging it in you’re ready to go.

  • Great Value
My old Thomas Renegade finally rusted through, so I was forced to buy a new compressor. This Makita compressor is so much quieter and nicer. My only criticism is that the on/off switch is too close to the electric cable. You tend to get a hand full of cable when you reach around the side to turn it on or off. I bought a second one for my daughter. ... show more
