  • Works with Raspberry Pi 4 (Unlike Some v2 RPi Cameras) | Great non-IR and IR quality!
Color: IR Fisheye Wide-angle 175 Degree Camera ...
I was dealing with a terrible headache involving my RPi 4 and the V2.0 Noir camera board. I decided to grab another camera board (based on another image sensor) and give that a go. I found out it has to do with HDMI CSI conflict and apparently some screen/camera combos can cause this to happen. However, I didn't want to have to buy another screen. So, I got a different camera! (Plus, when I did try one of my TV's, I had the same error.) When I hooked this Nightvision-Fisheye cam up to the RPi 4, it worked immediately! Now, I did have a bad ribbon cable, but that wasn't the issue with the V2.0 Noir camera (as it still doesn't work, with any ribbon cable.) So glad I can stop troubleshooting Raspbian and MotionEyeOS with the RPi Camera boards! The quality of this camera is EXCELLENT and I love the photo resistors that automatically kick the camera into night vision/IR mode when the light level drops low enough. In either mode, the resolution and responsiveness are top notch! The IR mode is great, even when IR is engaged, if there is something in the frame with enough light that it doesn't need IR, that object will appear in normal color (i.e. without that sepia tint), despite the rest of the image being in IR. I was very impressed by this little feature, I expected it to be all IR or all non-IR, not a mix in the frame. This is very cool! The focus is adjustable, by turning the entire lens assembly. I noticed some people never realized this! Also, (I think) you can change out the fisheye lens with another, many kits are available on Amazon with lots lenses for these. I never actually got the lens to come out, as it never seemed to easily turn out of the socket. So, I can't say for sure, but considering this comes in different lens versions, I'm going to assume yes. I noticed one thing about this camera. If you tell it to run at 1920x1080 and 30 FPS, the FOV will shrink on the fisheye lens. If you then switch it to 1280x720 and 30-55 FPS, the FOV returns to normal. Does anyone know why this is? I thought the camera was intended to shoot in 1080p mode? I also tried 1080p at 20-29 FPS, same results. If anyone could tell me why this is happening, I'd appreciate it! Overall, highly recommended for anyone having issues with the RPI 4 and the HDMI/CSI issue/conflict. ... show more

  • Good for octoprint, draws a LOT of current with the night lights attached
Color: Camera with cable for rpi 4/3/2
This camera works great for octoprint, although the colors are a bit washed out with the night lights but that's to be expected in low light. My only complaint is that I get "under current" warnings in octoprint when the night lights are attached, even with a well known brand plug and cable of high amperage. Checking the logs it seems that the issue is just for a fraction of a second at a time so I'm not concerned though. ... show more

  • Great Camera with Night Vision!
Color: Automatically Switching with holder for ...
Unit 1/2 worked upon initialization. Camera seemed to work really good, but not the infrared. Over the month I have had it, the infrared still did not work even with potentiometer adjustments. The camera began to have interemittent issues, and now not having a signal at all. I have a second unit for home versus work, and have had no issues with that one. - Update (07/25/18) Customer service from manufacturer has been great and has offered many suggestions and troubleshooting tips to assist. It still does not work and they are sending a new one to me. I will update accordingly when it arrives. - Update (09/10/18) Customer Service has been outstanding with really good communication and prompt response. I wish I had their service with the Monoprice 3D printer I ordered. MakerFocus shipped a replacement which works exactly as I had hoped. I have upgraded from a 1 star to 2 stars and now to 5 stars! This a great camera with Nightvision for the price and great service. ... show more

  • This is a really good camera if you can figure it out, works great with Octopi
Color: IR Fisheye Wide-angle 175 Degree Camera ...
So I originally bought the non-wide angled version of this cam and wasn't a fan of how zoomed in it looked. Couldn't get my whole printer bed in the frame. Quality was eh (didn't know what I know now...), it seemed to favor the IR mode and then a few days ago, the quality became really pixelated. I had just placed this wide-angled version on order so when it came in and I installed it, I noticed it was still really pixelated. So I ordered a new ribbon cable and installed that and still didn't fix the issue. I decided to do some digging on how to set the camera options on, I could find a bunch of forumns and online resources with the commands but couldn't figure out how to apply them properly (I'm a mechanical engineer, not a software engineer). But I finally got the process down so if you are thinking about getting this camera and want to know how to set it up with Octoprint here it is: -Download PuTTy and SSH into the pi. You can find resources on how to do this. You need the Pi IP address. -Once you've logged in type: sudo apt update -It should check if you've got a firmware and/or software package updates (I had 46 that could be upgraded). -Then type: sudo apt full-upgrade -It should ask to confirm and then it will update all of them. Might take a few min depending on how many you have. Also you might need to reboot afterwards (sudo reboot). -When it reboots, you'll have to close PuTTy and start a new session to connect to the Pi again. -When you've logged back in, type: sudo nano /boot/octopi.txt -It will then open the text file in blue text, then find (it might be commented out with a #) or add the line: camera_raspi_options="XXXXXXXXXX" Now the XXXXX field is where you place the commands for the camera options. You can experiment with yours but here is what I set mine to: camera_raspi_options="-x 1920 -y 1080 -fps 30 -sh 50 -awb off -quality 100 -vs -ex auto" GOODLUCK AND HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE! ... show more

  • Gets hot
Color: Automatically Switching with holder for ...
This camera got so hot after being plugged into the pi for only a couple minutes. The picture quality was okay, but I don't feel safe leaving this plugged in and running 24/7 like I'd originally planned.
