Look, I have no problems peeling eggs no matter their condition or how thoroughly cooked they are (although soft boiled eggs I just do for the challenge sometimes). But I make a lot at a time and use 3 bowls; 1 to cool fast, 1 for the shells, and 1 for the eggs for a final rinse. Then I have 3 bowls to clean, and the time it took to peel each shell, although that's maybe 30-40 seconds. I saw this, saw the videos, and did some quick calculations in my head. Well, it wasn't going to save years of my life but I thought I'd try it. When it came, it was surprisingly simple, as well as pretty heavy duty. The top and bottom are somewhat flexible making them easy to take off and put back on. I looked at the wonderfully easy to read instructions, saw the part about 1/4 of a cup of water, and figured, I could wing it. There's a halfway mark on the tube, and a 1/4 cup is about halfway to that mark. By the way, winging it worked out just fine. I had 8 hard boiled eggs and decided to race myself. All were about halfway to hard boiled, one kind of cracked while boiling and spilled partway out of the shell. These are never easy to peel, and I generally lose part of the egg that came out of the shell. That baby was going into the gizmo. We'll see how it handles that disaster. I did my first for the normal way. Transfered the hot eggs to the cooling bowl, about 20 seconds. Pre-cracked each one then slipped them out of the shell, about 30 seconds each (most of it pre-cracking the whole egg starting at the fat bottom), tossing the shell into the second bowl, rinsing the egg in the first, and dumping it into the third bowl. Another 5- 10 seconds. Maybe a minute for each egg, shells still to dump in the trash and 3 bowls to wash. OK, best I could figure out for the gizmo before hand was I would lose time refilling it, rinsing the egg, and I was going to use one bowl. Here we go. Fill, put egg in the thing, kind of close it, mostly holding it in place with my thumb and fingers, started shakin...wait...what!? It was already around 95% or more out of the shell. I had barely counted to four! I took the top off, strained the water through my fingers and discovered the shell had come completely off. I tossed what I had shell-wise straight into the trash, rinsed the egg off, snapped my wrist over the trash to get any big debris out of the gizmo, and started filling it again, even though there were tiny bits of shell still in it. Total time: 15 second. Most of it wasted by me not believing what I had just seen. I kind of paused to think it through then blasted away through the other 3. By the time I got to the last, I was down to around 7 seconds an egg. 7 seconds! Shake, strain, rinse and fill, dump egg in bowl and shell in a paper towel at the same time, cap, repeat. And remember that mutant egg? It came out intact. Nothing missing. Clean up was easy. Just pull both ends off, and you have a tube with the two caps. I'll put it this way: I've sent two of these out as gifts and I plan to send out more. I've also recommended them to some small restaurant owners I know who use unskilled teenagers for prep work. You can buy preprepared eggs in bulk for restaurants, but they have an odd metal/plastic taste, and its not buying local. These guys prefer to go local and fresh, but prep takes forever. Listen, if you have arthritis, any kind of tremor issues like I do, get last minute parties, catering from your home, looking for a wedding shower, or gift for someone going off to college, or moving out on their own for their first time, this is a great inexpensive gift or something to try. If you're the type that squirrels away stuff for a hope chest, throw this in. Its small in size, but so handy, your kids will steal it when they move out. Pat 'em down just before they walk out the door.

I don’t write a ton of reviews, but this product deserves one. We are entering summer pool party time, which means for our friend group a lot of potluck pool parties. My wife’s deviled eggs are almost always requested but she hates shelling them, so that part of it has been given to me. And it has been long and laborious. So I went looking to make my life easer and found the Negg. I thought it looked like a late night infomercial product that I would regret buying and forget to return. It is not, absolutely makes shelling hard boiled eggs vastly quicker and easier. Put a little water in, shake it 10-15 times with moderate force, and peel comes off fast. I did get over enthusiastic and killed one egg shaking it too hard or fast or both, otherwise worked like a dream and easy to get in the rhythm of it. Made a dozen eggs to try it out, ended up with 11 pristine eggs in at least half the time. So this product is absolutely worth it if you make a lot of hard boiled eggs. Easy to clean, seems durable, small enough to store easily. Highly recommend.

So I bought this as I saw it on a YouTube short of the best kitchen gadgets to buy. I make my entire family deviled eggs every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's on average about 30-40 eggs to hard boil and peel. It normally takes me 2-4 hours to peel everything and about 5-6 eggs are useless because they broke during peeling. Did I mention I HATE peeling hard boiled eggs? So when I saw this I of course had to have it. A previous review said that this thing works ONLY if you follow the instructions. Well the instructions say to boil the eggs for 11 minutes. Add a minute for larger eggs. I use store bought Grade AA eggs. I have always been taught to boil eggs for 20 minutes AFTER the water starts to boil. I do live at 6k feet of elevation. In school we did experiments to find the perfect boil time and we concluded that 18 minutes was the perfect time. So when the instructions said to boil for 11 minutes, I called Hogwash. Well I did it per instructions boiling 2 eggs. Then ice bath for 5 minutes. Then it says to pour 1/4 water into the device , insert boiled egg and shake vigorously for 6 or 7 times. I followed the instructions to the letter and ended up with egg soup. Threw that in the trash and tried again on the second egg. same result. So I boiled 2 eggs MY way and ice bathed them. Then used 1/4 or little less water, dropped in the egg and GENTLY shook the egg in the container just enough to crack the exterior which was maybe about 4 shakes. Pulled the egg out and the shell came right off, easy pezy. Tried with the second and same result. My conclusion is to boil the eggs normally as you know how and the time that you normally do. Add in a little less than 1/4 cup water and do NOT shake it hard, no need to. Don't need soup here. Just enough so the egg is cracked all the way around. if the egg fails to crack, go again a little longer. Trail and error will tell you how long and hard to do it. Therefore I do say this works and will cut my peeling time down by a substantial amount. However, I took off a star for incorrect instructions.

If you're considering this product, you're like me and you LOVE boiled eggs but HATE peeling them! Well, this product is awesome providing you follow their "best" boiled egg recipe. The first dozen eggs I tried with the Negg Peeler were a disaster - it didn't work. I was frustrated and couldn't figure out why it works for everyone else but not me. But I realized I made my boiled eggs differently then their recommended "best" boiled egg recipe. This does make a difference. I tried their recipe on the next dozen eggs - followed the recipe exact - and the Negg Peeler worked exactly as advertised - the shell pretty much fell off! And the eggs were absolutely perfect as well.

The reviews and videos made the Negg Egg Peeler look very promising. We tried the peeler on six hard-boiled eggs. One egg worked as advertised, but the other five required about the same effort as peeling by hand. For the price, we expected more consistent results.

the Negg egg peeler may just be my most valued kitchen gadget. Peels hard boiled eggs as promised. Admittedly, there's a slight learning curve with the force needed with shaking the egg inside the Negg as the instructions direct but after a failed first attempt (egg broke apart) I am able to consistently remove the shell without mangling the egg.
