I absolutely love the look, feel, and brightness of these. The flame effect is excellent. The brightness level is perfect for my deck railing post tops, and installation is relatively easy (though not terribly secure. If they get hit or knocked, they're likely to break or pull out the screws). 2 Complaints. First, the solar panel isn't big enough to keep the battery fully charged - especially if they're not in full direct sunlight all day. On cloudy or partly cloudy days, or shorter winter days, they barely last any time at all. Second, although I like the dual-fit design of the base (4"x4" posts or 6"x6" posts), they actually didn't fit either. I had just built my deck, so the treated 4x4s were fresh and slightly wet. So in a few months or a year, who knows the posts might shrink enough to fit, but the 4x4 mount was far too small to fit when I got them. Same with the 6x6 mount for new treated lumber. I had the choice to plane the lumber to fit, or just use the larger (6x6) adapter on my 4x4 posts. I results in the large square base sticking out an inch or so all the way around, but my wife and I thought it looked OK (almost like it was part of the design) so I left it. I may check back in the spring and see if they fit without the adapter, or just keep the current look. ... show more

All four of my lights function as they should. They look nice. The farther away you get, the flicker is less noticeable. The "flame" color is not as deep orange as in the pictures although it is very close to a real flame color.

These don’t give off much light but they are really nice to look at. Also, there is a little switch on the inside that you have to flip on to get them to work. It says off, flame, on — if you just turn them on, you won’t get the flame effect. You need to put the switch right in the middle to get the flame effect. I didn’t know that and just thought “flame” was there to let you know that was the on/off switch. If you flip the switch to “on” it is just a normal light. ... show more

I have only had them for a month, however thus far I am impressed, especially since they won't rust. The only negative problem that one has to either shave about 3/32 of an inch around the top of a standard 4X4 post, cr cut a block that will bit inside the base of the lamp and screw it to the top of the post. Could be a little more brighter but puts off a nice glow through the nicely random LEDs. I Ordered a 4pk to try out but they where so nice I ordered them TWiCE! Just make sure you take out the janky no name 1000mah battery and replace with energizer 2600mah recharchable AA so that you may enjoy these lights for 12 hours or more easily! I really like the look and size of these torches and the build quality. Dropped one hard from 10 ft and while it was a little scratched, it took the hit like a champ. ... show more

Appears to be very well built, metal not plastic. Very nice design. I have had the outside for about 2 weeks and the battery life is not what would be expected even after full sun all day. I am getting about 6 hours after full sun and as little as 2 with an overcast day. The past 2 days were overcast and these did not come on at all. I compare them to a set of lanterns I have that are very similar to these and they will last all night long after full sun and about 8 hours when overcast. ... show more
