I received the product - looks good overall - I have not used it yet so I do not want to give too much feedback until after however it is not off to the best start >> I ordered the orange/black one and received the grey/black one (this is not a big deal just a sign of negligence). Fortunately all straps and clips are accounted for.. but the product came with NO lock. This is discouraging as the lock is critical to the storage compartment's purpose. I'm sure I can find a lock at some hardware store nearby that will fit, however this is slightly discouraging. I am hopeful for the bigger purpose and that is the durability of the storage bag! ... show more

    • Better That I Expected
I really didn't know what I was getting when I ordered this, but I'm happy to say that everything worked out great. I was going on an extended trip with several large and heavy items, so I bought the Tyger Auto TG-RK1B942B Cargo Basket, and the Maelstrom Rooftop Bag was a perfect fit. The trip started off with three hours of interstate driving through a Florida downpour, and this thing didn't leak one drop! By the way, the watertight zippers go completely around both sides and the rear, making loading easy by flipping the entire top forward. The bag was held securely to the roof rack with the ten adjustable straps, and I had no cargo shifting or flapping. I secured loose strap ends to the bars with velcro ties to keep them from fraying in the wind. When the trip was over I had no trouble folding the bag and fitting it back into the storage case. I guess I did a better job of folding it because it left room to spare. I'm really pleased with the quality, performance, and value of this Maelstrom Bag, and would buy it again if I needed another. Solid Four Stars because it was much better than I hoped for. Not Five Stars because it wasn't better that my wildest dreams. (I use the original five star rating guidelines.) ... show more

This rooftop cargo carrier is perfect for long trips across the country, 6 hour drive, or just out and about and you need more storage space after buying a lot of items at a thrift store or whereever you shop. Seriously though, this rooftop carrier is a perfect item when you want to go visit family, and know your going to need more storage space when traveling back home. We bought this for our long travels to and from visiting family, and the extra storage came in handy for extra luggage, and gifts we were unable to put in the car. Some Pros: The cargo carrier is well constructed, and built to withstand the elements such as rain, wind, dirt, snow etc. The straps hold really well to the vehicle, and the zippers are very secure and tight. Unfolding, and mounting with the non slip pad is pretty easy. Easy to clean off... Just zip it all up after use, hose it down, and wipe off. Bugs, and dirt come off easily. Some Cons: If your setting this up alone, hopefully your car is short, or smaller than a Yukon. Higher vehicles make this a little bit harder to set up, but not impossible. Also if your planning to stop off somewhere it not the best for security, so if your doing a 6 hour drive/ day drive no worries. If it's a cross the country as this will be used, be sure to be able to stay with family a friends. that way it can be lifted off and unmounted without worrying about any harm coming to it/ what you have inside. ... show more

    • Surprisingly exceptional quality - and stores way more gear than I thought it would
I bought this in hopes of freeing up space inside my car while we spend our weekends adventuring. We live in Alaska and spend summer weekends exploring, camping or at our remote cabin in the rain, sun, cold…you name it. The single most important quality for me is waterproof material and it definitely delivers. Yesterday, I (over)loaded this with our disposables (TP, paper plates), bedding, towels, a new set of cookware, laundered pillows, etc to restock our cabin and put it on top of my roof rack overnight for an early morning departure…it rained hard and sideways most of the night. I just went out and pulled it back off the roof rack to check if everything was still dry and not one single ounce of water or dampness anywhere. The zippers were smooth even with rain and I can tell they will hold up. So, I’m back here to buy 2 more to use for when we go in my husband’s truck. These bags will become “essential” for us. This is a really quality bag. The only thing I would caution is…if you are going to put a lot of heavier items inside and intend to mount it on a roof rack, you may need help lifting it up or just add some items after you’ve mounted it. It can carry a lot of items meaning it can get heavy! ... show more

This Car Roof bag appears to be made of high quality materials and workmanship. It is incredibly flexible in terms of the different ways to mount it. It arrived nicely folded in a carry bag. I will say however it took me 3 tries to get it folded back in such a way to fit very snugly back in the bag. I wish the carry bag was a bit larger. It came with clips to attach to a car without a roof rack. You'll need to be comfortable with pulling the rubber gasket away from where your doors close to insert the metal clips. However, as you can see in the third pic, once done, the door closed nicely with the clip inserted. It came with a nice anti-slip mat that you can put on the roof of the car before putting the carrier on the roof, I'm assuming to help protect the roof. While it appears to have numerous mounting options with/without rooftop rack, the instructions and the QR code to watch a brief video were not that helpful, especially with securing on a car without a roof rack. Last pic shows it partially mounted with a couple empty boxes shoved inside. All in all, this certainly will give me the added capacity I need when traveling, but will have to spend a little more time figuring how best to fully secure it. ... show more
