    • Beautiful book but lacking one thing
This book is beautiful. The paint section outstanding. Absolutely what I expected. As others have commented though, the writing in this book needs some help. Vague writing that doesn't pull the reader into the design thinking beyond surface level. Could be greatly spiced up with a copywriter.

    • Realistic and Relatable
I bought three design books recommended by Jenn of No Demo Reno (she is hilarious and does beautiful design work) … quickly skimmed all three and Made for Living caught my eye the most. Read it in its entirety in a day and a half as could not put it down! Can’t even really explain why, was just very interesting and felt like I was actually learning something that I could possibly use. I have a visceral connection with nature and try to always bring the outside “in” whenever possible. Amber Lewis also seems to have this connection so her design style was similar. Also, too many new things makes a house pretentious; adding the right vintage pieces (irregardless of price) helps to calm down the materialism, which she also does. Most of the other design books are very elitist and involve a lot of (European) name dropping and things that are, quite frankly, ugly. This book was not that way and highly recommend it.
