I've had the Dremel Lite 7760 for some time now and conclude it is an excellent unit if used for it's intended purpose: Dremel advertise the 7760 as an entry level tool. I also have a mains powered Dremel 4300, which is the current top model from a versatility and power perspective. The 7760 will perform just as well as the 4300 for light jobs such as engraving, sanding, brushing or light grinding. But it doesn't have the power, duty cycle nor high speed of the 4300. They are intended for different applications. But the 7760 does some things the 4300 either cannot do, or it becomes awkward/time consuming to use. The 4300 or any mains power tool requires a cord and plugging into a wall socket or extension cord. The 7760 is lighter, shorter and can get into places that may be impossible for the 4300 or other long tool. Because the 7760 is battery operated, you can use it in the car, caravan, boat, attic or garden etc.; anywhere there is no mains power. The 7760 fits the hand much better than the 4300, when holding the tool like a pencil. It is shorter and lighter than the 4300, enabling holding the tool close to the cutting bit and enables greater control. While the 4300 can be gripped like a pencil, my hand becomes tired after 10min or so; while using the 7760 like a pencil is much easier to use and less fatiguing. The 7760 is battery powered and therefore cannot be operated as long as mains powered units--when the battery loses it charge the tool stops: Time to recharge. I did a couple of no load operating times for the 7760. By no load is meant the tool was turned on (just allowed to run free) and run until the batteries became flat of charge, and I timed the duration. Setting the switch on the lowest speed, it ran for 55mins. Recharge the batteries, set the switch to highest speed, and it ran for 30mins. Of-course, placing a load when using a tool entails shorter operating time, and the greater the load the shorter the running duration. So how long the tool will run varies directly with how hard you require it to work. If the tool is asked to work and it is being strained, a safety feature is engaged and the tool stops. Now turn the switch to off and then back on and it will run again. I tried pushing the friendship of the tool, and indeed it stopped. If you require a more powerful and longer running battery tool, perhaps you should look at Dremel's 8220. The 8220 is longer and much heavier than the 7760. I am doing electronic work as well as jobs around the house. If the job is light, such as wire brushing a rusty small tool, the 7760 will be quite adequate. It will be quite the thing for sharpening garden secateurs or sanding a small piece of wood prior to painting, engraving names on some tools, grind figures on a ceramic pot: All these and more are well within the capacity of the 7760. The battery is recharged using a USB connection which will supply 5volts at 1amp. Recharging time is 2hr 40mins. I tried using a bigger battery charger, and it still takes the 2hr 40mins, so there is no provision for fast charging. Many of the things I do are short in duration, and not requiring high power and the 7760 will be quite satisfactory. I showed the 7760 to a man who makes his living working on electronic equipment.     • Great battery life; no cord makes it super valuable

I've had a few corded Dremels, and they always seem to get relegated to a dusty corner. I actually use this one. Why? It's convenient. The battery lasts forever, too. (Not literally forever, of course, but far longer than I anticipated it would.) Biggest downside is that it uses micro USB rather than USB-C, but that's just whiny on my part. I might also prefer a dial to the slider for speed selection. I put a keyless chuck on it, so swapping bits is a breeze. I've used it for everything from porting an engine to removing a callus on my foot. I didn't expect it when I bought it, but it's been one of my best all-round useful tool purchase. My die grinder and angle grinders see less action because this smaller tool is convenient and can often step up. It's a bit big to fit the "EDC" category, but definitely one to toss in the top drawer of a tool cabinet. ... show more

I got this for lite work and to polish patina off of my knife blades. It works great at that task. I have heavier duty Dremel gear for heavier work and this has kept me a fan. Well worth the buy.

    • Great grinder but one issue

It’s a strong grinder and serves its uses. The only thing that’s an issue would be that the power switch would become loose. Which causes the grinder to not turn off completely sometimes. An example would be either needing to hold the switch down for a couple of seconds to get it to turn off completely (which isn’t a problem). But the problem lies at, since the power switch is loose, the grinder would just turn on automatically even when not using. Leading to the battery exhausting itself. I bought the Asurion 3 Year Protection plan with it. Just so you know, the protection plan only covers for just ONE replacement. I got a replacement but after maybe 3 months after, same power switch issue happened. So I had to buy a completely new one. Crossing my fingers that the issue doesn’t arise again. ... show more
