  • Mostly good
Format: Paperback
Very interesting designs and well illustrated. I find that having floor plans really helps with visualizing the utilization of space. Virtually all of these designs are attractive and look comfortable. These designs and tiny houses in general are of great interest to me (I was a boat builder for years, and did a lot of offshore sailing in small boats) because they provide inexpensive options for high quality housing done very creatively, for small families, couples or singles. They can even be adapted for elders with a downstairs bedroom. One thing that is troublesome is that safety features seem to be ignored or are not pictures. Smoke/fire detectors? I don't think I've ever seen any in any book or design. There are very few hand rails or safety grips. Grab rails and handles, and decent steps would provide a lot of safety at very little cost. So would bars to prevent folks from rolling off a loft, or bumping into a stove in the narrow spaces. Safety should be a high priority. I love the recycled materials construction but hope that care is taken to avoid toxic substances on old materials and furniture. ... show more

I bought this book to continue my collection of books on Tiny houses. I'm a Tiny house enthusiast to say the least. This book gave me some great ideas on how to use Recycled products in my projects. I recommend it!

  • This is a picture book
Format: Paperback
The first part of the book has very few tips about building with gathered/recycled materials and most the information is very broad and vague. Then the second part is more than half the book and it is just pictures of other people's tiny homes, and while there is sometimes detail about the builder's budget, they never even tell you the size of each tiny house. If you're looking for tiny home inspiration look at frigging pinterest. Just not super informative book, you'repaying for a picture book basically. Look elsewhere if you're looking for instructions for DIY building. ... show more
