  • The Bible of Swimming Pool Care
I used to be in the industry, and I've read plenty of pool care books, booklets, and pamphlets. This book is the most complete. It is also designed to very reader-friendly, as the author links in the ebook; which means references in paper books, where you can go in the book to solve a problem or learn more without reading every page. That means you want to keep this in the house or in the pool shed, to bring out if you have any question and go right to the answer. Here's a secret in the pool industry: there are two very different sources of advice. Pool service people understand how to do things on a wide range of brands and items. But generally they know how, a little less than why. Store-based advisors have a greater depth of knowledge of their own brands, but less so of other brands. And telling you how to do something is WAY easier than actually doing it yourself!! Our author here describes starting out in backyards working with her father, who himself is a very well-known "pool guy." She then continued to work on pools in the field, while also becoming an in-store advisor. That is a rare combination of skills. The writing here is clear, humorous, and knowledgeable without talking down to the beginners among us. A note to other "pool guys" as i was before retirement: Buy a copy of this book for every employee. Tell them to keep it in the truck or behind the counter so they can pull it out to catch up on advice, and to see what your customers want to know. This is the perfect pool care guide. ... show more

  • New Pool Owners
After having an inground pool installed this spring, we noticed there was plenty of information we didn’t know. Then I came across Pool Care for Dummies and thought PERFECT; added to my cart and it was here in no time. We have learned how to balance the pool, what water level to keep the pool, in order for the skimmers to work most efficiently, how to utilize the water spouts to best filter the water, etc.. Don’t regret this purchase in the least. Newbies to the pool world need this book. ... show more
