Never needs a battery. Caliber number U680. Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world- over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

  • Beautiful functional watch. Perfect upgrade after 25 years with it's predecessor.
Color: Silver-Tone Bracelet
I think this watch is fantastic. The U680 movement is very similar to my first Navihawk I had over 30 years ago which I lost in an accident and replaced with a C650 that has served me faithfully for the last 25+ years. I love the solar powered watches, if this is anything like my previous I won't need to replace the battery (capacitor) for over 20 years. Just put it in sunlight and it will charge right up. The watch is heavy, bit of a switch from my titanium version but it's comfortable and not overbearing. While it is very well made, very durable I still need to take care with the flat crystal and beautiful chrome around the bezzle. Will likely use my 25 year old daily wear when doing dangerous things. The complications are straight forward, easy to understand, the crown and buttons are intuitive if you've owned a Citizen before. The over the air setting of the watch, which happens automatically twice at night, works great for me. May have to prop the watch up with the antenna pointing west if you have issues. Looking forward to spending the next 25 years with this guy and doing my best not to collect them all. ... show more

  • Great Watch, comfortable band
Color: Silver-Tone Bracelet
This is a great looking watch with incredible curb appeal. Setting the time however, took me some works. I read two manuals before I found a YouTube video that lead me through the whole process ( you’ll never figure it out on your own). It has the most comfortable band I’ve ever had, and I absolutely love checking the time at night and seeing that analog glowing display in a glance. It turns out that it’s really easy to change time zone (unlike my last Casio atomic watch). The only thing I wish I knew before buying is that to rotate the E-6B bezel you have to twist the left knob, which can be awkward unless you take the watch off and use your left hand to twist the knob. Bit really, I’m never going to need that in flight or something like that anymore. ... show more

  • Premium Watch, IMO
Color: Silver-Tone Bracelet
Love this watch. Despite my baby-boomer eye-sight,, I love the details of this watch. A lot of complications that are fun to look at, although sometimes I need my 2.5 readers to see. For the most part, I have all the different functions and complications positions memorized. I use this watch a lot and use it to set or adjust all my other watches when needed. As mentioned the alarm is difficult to hear, but I would rarely use it for that reason. The sapphire crystal is nice. I did switch the band to a leather w/ deployment buckle, but may at some point switch to the silver band that came with it. It is nice, but a premium black leather band also works with this watch Other than 2 Breitlings I own, this is the next most pricey watch I have. I have fewer concerns wearing this watch more often. After a quick youtube tutorial and a hour playing with the watch, I was able to use the watch to sync, change secondary time zones, etc. I know a lot of feedback on digital brightness of the small window has been mentioned. 99% of the time I have no issue. In the Texas sunshine, most digital displays get washed out. Office and at home, I have no concerns seeing the digital output. Overall, this is a great watch. Even in a watch rotation of 20+ watches, I still manage to wear this Citizen a couple of times a week. At home, I will wear it on my right wrist, even with another watch on my left. Kind of geeky, but hey, why not. ... show more

  • Amazing watch!
Color: Silver-Tone Bracelet
I was nervous to make such a large purchase on Amazon, but it was exactly what I thought I was getting. Beautiful watch and definitely worth it! Never needs a battery, very durable, larger sized watch (but exactly what I wanted), and very bright and shiny.

  • An over-engineered aviation watch with an original design
Color: Silver-Tone Bracelet
This is an excellent buy, especially on Amazon, Macy's was selling it for $725.00! (though it's now on sale for $580.00 on their site.) The watch can be quite confusing with its abundance of features and busy dial. Luckily, I like that for an aviation watch, but people with average and below average vision may hate it. The print is quite small. If you read the manual and search online, eventually you will learn how to set the alarms, choose different time zones, receive a signal and more. Setting NYC seems impossible though, it never comes up when setting the zone, but comes up when using other features. The watch is very durable, I managed to drop it on granite from about 5+ feet and it continued working without any issue. One side of the lug did get banged up, but it's not very noticeable. The finish on the watch is excellent with brushed lugs and sides. The coin bezel surrounds a polished surface. Citizen seems to finish better on models at this price range compared to Seiko. The pull-out crown is signed with an etched surfaced all around. The crown for the internal compass is similar, while the two surrounding buttons are polished and shaped like something out of an aircraft. The aircraft theme continues to the dial and sub-dials which look like gauges. The radio controlled time seems to work on and off. Sometimes I get a signal, other times I don't. Atmospheric conditions will contribute to signal attenuation. Regardless, it manages to keep accurate time often enough without having to set the time manually. It worked well during day light savings. I really like the battery indicator, I think it's essential with a watch as functional as the Navihawk. Some of the small drawbacks for me would be the lume, bracelet, and unusual lug width. When the watch is not exposed to high amounts of natural or artificial light, the lume is quite poor. I know this is often the case with many watches, but some of Seiko's divers illuminate much more at a fraction of the cost. This doesn't mean you wont be able to read the watch in dark conditions, the lume should be adequate, which matters the most. The LED backlight for the digital windows isn't vibrant either. Again, it will be legible at night, but Casio watches have much better backlights despite being significantly cheaper. ** The picture I attached with the watch illuminated is when it was exposed to LED light. This keeps the treated hands and indices charged for a short time ** The bracelet looks great, and it will attract a-lot of attention, but it can be uncomfortable. The underside of the clasp feels like its digging into your skin. Unfortunately the lug width is an awkward 23mm, so it will be a difficult task to find straps and other bracelets that fit properly. I have three leather straps which are 22mm. They still fit well enough, but the spring bar will be partially visible. If you want a quality leather strap, I suggest Hirsch. Overall, it is surely an excellent aviation watch with an original design. I felt conflicted trying to choose the Seiko Flightmaster, which resembles the Breitling Navitimer, or the Navihawk. The Flightmaster is still calling me, but the Navihawk has too many strengths over the competition: Radio-Controlled time, solar powered eco drive, digital LED display with multiple time zones and backlight, and an internal compass. There are things I still need to learn with this watch, which keeps it exciting. ... show more
