Never needs a battery. Caliber number U680. Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world- over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy.

  • Amazing watch!
I was nervous to make such a large purchase on Amazon, but it was exactly what I thought I was getting. Beautiful watch and definitely worth it! Never needs a battery, very durable, larger sized watch (but exactly what I wanted), and very bright and shiny.

  • Absolutely gorgeous. This thing is smarter than I am
Citizen Promaster Navihawk has been on my list for some time. Wanted the Blue Angels version... but was not disappointed with the black and stainless. Shipped fast considering the weather and being in the holiday season.

  • An over-engineered aviation watch with an original design
This is an excellent buy, especially on Amazon, Macy's was selling it for $725.00! (though it's now on sale for $580.00 on their site.) The watch can be quite confusing with its abundance of features and busy dial. Luckily, I like that for an aviation watch, but people with average and below average vision may hate it. The print is quite small. If you read the manual and search online, eventually you will learn how to set the alarms, choose different time zones, receive a signal and more. Setting NYC seems impossible though, it never comes up when setting the zone, but comes up when using other features. The watch is very durable, I managed to drop it on granite from about 5+ feet and it continued working without any issue. One side of the lug did get banged up, but it's not very noticeable. The finish on the watch is excellent with brushed lugs and sides. The coin bezel surrounds a polished surface. Citizen seems to finish better on models at this price range compared to Seiko. The pull-out crown is signed with an etched surfaced all around. The crown for the internal compass is similar, while the two surrounding buttons are polished and shaped like something out of an aircraft. The aircraft theme continues to the dial and sub-dials which look like gauges. The radio controlled time seems to work on and off. Sometimes I get a signal, other times I don't. Atmospheric conditions will contribute to signal attenuation. Regardless, it manages to keep accurate time often enough without having to set the time manually. It worked well during day light savings. I really like the battery indicator, I think it's essential with a watch as functional as the Navihawk. Some of the small drawbacks for me would be the lume, bracelet, and unusual lug width. When the watch is not exposed to high amounts of natural or artificial light, the lume is quite poor. I know this is often the case with many watches, but some of Seiko's divers illuminate much more at a fraction of the cost. This doesn't mean you wont be able to read the watch in dark conditions, the lume should be adequate, which matters the most. The LED backlight for the digital windows isn't vibrant either. Again, it will be legible at night, but Casio watches have much better backlights despite being significantly cheaper. ** The picture I attached with the watch illuminated is when it was exposed to LED light. This keeps the treated hands and indices charged for a short time ** The bracelet looks great, and it will attract a-lot of attention, but it can be uncomfortable. The underside of the clasp feels like its digging into your skin. Unfortunately the lug width is an awkward 23mm, so it will be a difficult task to find straps and other bracelets that fit properly. I have three leather straps which are 22mm. They still fit well enough, but the spring bar will be partially visible. If you want a quality leather strap, I suggest Hirsch. Overall, it is surely an excellent aviation watch with an original design. I felt conflicted trying to choose the Seiko Flightmaster, which resembles the Breitling Navitimer, or the Navihawk. The Flightmaster is still calling me, but the Navihawk has too many strengths over the competition: Radio-Controlled time, solar powered eco drive, digital LED display with multiple time zones and backlight, and an internal compass. There are things I still need to learn with this watch, which keeps it exciting. ... show more

  • Defective Watch, looks used
Horrible. I’m a big fan of Bulova and wanted to give Citizen a shot. This watch has scratches on the back and it absolutely did not sync with atomic radio time. No matter where I went. NYC time zone wasn’t available at all. It also came in a different box than EVERY YouTube video I watched about how to set the time. Given how highly reviewed this watch is I must have gotten a bad watch. But it’s left a rotten taste by citizen in my mouth. As Donald Trump would say… PASS. ... show more
