  • Dead Quiet! Dead Quiet!
Size: Mix8
I purchased this 8 channel mixer for my studio guitar rig setup. I wanted something that I could run my guitar multi-effects pedal and eventually a drum machine into the returns of my guitar amp. And still be able to control the volumes of each independently. The 2 Mono channels has Balanced XLR and TRS with Phantom Power. And the 2 Stereo channels have 1/4” Right and Left inputs. 3 band EQ, Headphone jack and independent volume This Mackie Mix8 is perfect for my needs. I’ve used larger Mackie mixers in the past and this smaller unit is no exception. Not only does it perform well, it’s “Dead Quiet”! The knobs (pots) feel like good quality and not cheap. There is a good variety of inputs and everything is top mounted so it makes connections very easy. It’s also laid out nicely. And all controls are easy to access. The EQ section can dial in just the right frequency’s to get the right sound you want. Things To Know: * This mixer does not have built-in effects (i.e. reverb, delay, etc.) * There is no power switch, you’ll need to disconnect the power cord to turn it off * It states 8 channels, but is actually 6 channels (2 Mono and 2 stereo), and also a tape in/out that makes it 8 channels For the quality and sound this mixer put out, it’s crazy how much they put in such a small package at such a small price! I highly recommend it! ... show more

  • Nice Quality!
Size: Mix8
Used this for a 2 DJ setup where we could mix between controllers so both DJs were performing at the same time and matching the other's beats and music while mixing. The item itself has pretty good heft and weight to it. I'm not sure if that means it's higher quality but it sure does feel like it. The controls are smooth and accurate. The 3-band EQ provides excellent control, and the entire unit adds a cleaner and amplified output stage. Basically it's able to amp the signal coming out of the controllers to a higher output level. This is good because we were able to add in Microphones, and get all the levels perfect and clean. The 8-channel version adds a lot of versatility for a DJ setup - you can run external mics, feed out to your main speakers and also to a separate area using the Control Room (CR) outputs while being able to adjust levels on both independently. You can also run your audio out (Tape Out) to a recording device, or to a videographers rig pretty easily. Overall, flexibility, control, and sound quality was very nice. I see complaints about the lack of a power button, but for DJs or for a band, at what point would you want this turned off and on during a performance anyway? Also keep in mind that this doesn't have XLR outputs, but according to the manual the 1/4" outs are TRS (balanced). ... show more

  • Mackie Mix 8 is definitely High Quality Mixer - never disappoints Mackie Mix 8 is definitely High Quality Mixer - never disappoints
Size: Mix8
Mackie Mix 8 is definitely High Quality Mixer - never disappoints. I've bought 2 of these in the past 3 yrs due to it's size (fits in my digital dj case along side of my Pioneer DDJ SB3 very easily. The well built casing is great for doing performances or in the studio. It survives wear and tear, and gives you that Mackie high quality sound. I use 6 of the 8 input/outputs to power 2 Laptops, a DJ Controller and 2 micophones when gigging with a guitar player. The best part about the sound is that it is one of the few small mixers that still give you all 3 sound knobs (High/Mid/Low). Most do NOT have Mid anymore and it makes a world of a difference. Only thing is no on/off switch, but i bypass that with my multi unit outlet switch that it plugs into. Great buy! ... show more

  • Nice little mixer! (Mix8)
Size: Mix8
Just want to throw a few things out there before reviewing. I seen 2 questions pop up that are answered wrong. First was "is this a powered mixer?" The answer is no. You will need an amp and speakers or a powered speaker. Powered mixers have a built in amplifier. This doesnt. Second was in reference to the 2 missing channels on the mix 8. The paper work that comes with the mixer self does not specify where those two extra channels are. Those two channels are on the aux return. There is a more detailed manual online and it has block diagrams that show how everything is routed inside the console. The aux return goes directly to the left and right output. For starters I highly recommend everyone download the manual. So far I used my mixer a couple of times. When set right you have plenty of Headroom to work with. The way that I typically set everything up is I put my powered speaker at Unity, my main output at Unity and my fader level at Unity is well. Then I will just my gains to the volume that I want. I use it with a switchcraft Bluetooth receiver hooked up to a JBL PRX 112 speaker. The console has phantom power. Should be 48V, but has an 18V transformer, though I have not measure the exact voltage coming out of it it has more than enough to power the Bluetooth receiver. A quarter inch to XLR adapter is required or a quarter inch to XLR cable. So far I've not had any problems with this mixer and I'm very pleased with it. It's definitely a step up from the old Antiquated one that I have been using for the past few years. The mix 8 with my JBL tablet, a couple of cables an extension cord fit perfectly in a small tool bag and makes everything easy for traveling. 3 band eq is nice. Simple 3 band. I primarally used that over the eq on my powered speakers. It's got 1 aux send. Perfect for effects. Its after the level so not sure how nice it is for stage monitors. If I were to purchase another I'd probably go for the mix 12. It's got effects and more channels on it. But in any case if I needed more channels I would probably just break out my spirit console. In conclusion this is a very small and very portable mixer. If you're looking for something just to add a more flexibility to a powered speaker or have a small console for live streams I highly recommend this one. ... show more

  • Purchased for having a central command for speakers &headphone jack.
Size: Mix8
I purchased the Mix8 along with the M-Audio BX5 d2 studio monitors, Cerwin Vega XD8 sub and Polk Audio Sub for music entertainment. I do not make, mix or do any of that stuff. I received the bx5 d2's and xd8 1st and I was pretty disappointed with them. Sound was coming from an iMac. The speakers did not get loud enough, did not fill a medium size room and they did not feel like they were receiving enough power. So I ended purchasing another sub and the mix8 and contemplated upgrading the Bx5 d2. My original intention was to have a very good set of computer monitors. So the Mix8 and the Polk sub comes in and Viola!!! Audiophile paradise. For now at least. Everything change once I connected the Mix 8 Pros: 1. The signal coming from the mix8 is so much stronger that the sound of all the speakers increased an insane amount. 2. Sound quality improved leaps and bounds as well. 3. Having a 3 band equalizer allowed me to adjust music to my likings. Typically +5-10 db's for bass and +1-2 in treble from a flat speaker. 4. Another output for speakers can be connected through CR (Control Room). I used it for the subs and it also has a volume control just for CR so I can adjust subs to the type of music. 5. Sturdy construction. Feels like a tank. Knobs have an individual click each turn. Mostly steel frame. 6. Headphone jack so I don't have to reach behind computer to hook the headphones every time. The output for the headphones is insane as well. Felt like the sound doubled in my q40 headphones. Feels like it has been amplified significantly. 7. Tons of inputs. My son is a novice guitar player so now he can plug and play. Cons: 1. No power switch. Oh well no biggie. 2. Sound plays on monitors when headphone is plugged in. Probably a dj thing. I just unplug the monitors. If it was not for the Mix8 I would have wrongfully dumped the entire monitor setup. I am still in awe with how much the sound quality and output improved. The 3 band eq is great! It has such a long range of adjustment it feels like you can +15 decibels. The bass feels like I can triple the output with the Mix8. Forget the Y splitter going straight to the monitors! Run it through one of these!!! Best $80 I have ever spent. Sound is almost as good as our older home audio JBL studio series that I spent 5 times more for. ... show more

  • Good value for the money.
Size: Mix8
I used this to replace a 20 year old mixer that was getting static from the main gain pot. This one is a lot clearer, with no static.
