I bought this bed for my elderly father who struggles with mobility. It's one of the best investments we've made for his comfort. It ships in two separate packages (as the seller notes), but was delivered together by a third party freight company. The bed frame is very sturdy and comes in at over 100 pounds! Assembly was straightforward and fast. The metal frame is heavy-duty and rock-solid. The wired remote is intuitive and easy-to-use as my dad learned it in minutes. He loves sitting up to watch TV, then raising his legs slightly to help circulation. The motor runs smooth and quiet. The 6″ memory foam mattress balances firmness and comfort well, and the non-slip cover keeps it in place when the bed adjusts. The padded guard rails are a standout. They feel soft yet hold firm. They flip down easily when we help him in and out of bed. If you want a high-quality medical bed that doesn't look or feel like hospital equipment and doesn't break the bank, this is it. It has improved his sleep and made caregiving far easier. Also comparable model beds cost a few hundred dollars more, so this was a great value. Highly recommended. ... show more

What I received also had odd dimensions with short leg area and a rod that hits the middle back through the cushions. The legs section does not raise up high enough to sit up with my legs stretched out flat front of me. I can't physically butt walk so I can't get all the way to the back of the chair in a sitting position. Therefore, when laying down my feet hang down the not fully raised foot section which is causing circulation and back problems. The weird dimensions make getting in and out of the bed dangerous. I fell trying to stand up because there is not much room to get my feet in place for the recommended "nose over your toes" (a physical cue used to improve balance, stability, and biomechanics when transitioning from sitting to standing or moving forward. It requires shifting your upper body weight forward so your nose is aligned vertically above your toes, placing your center of gravity squarely over your feet”) position because when the bottom is fully down so you can stand up, there is very little room to get a foothold safely under me. The padded guard rails are so far back that you can't use them to help you stand up either. I think that they build the bed without getting feedback for design improvements from actual disabled people. I’m so disappointed with this product and it’s bad design. I have been sleeping in a reclining chair for 20 years and we came across this bed and it is amazing and it’s very easy for me to get in and out of from the back of it and the doctors are so pleased that I am able to sleep in a bed again. With my lymphedema and neuropathy, I could not lift my legs up into a bed, but with this I just sit at the foot of it and push a button. This was so easy for my husband to put together. Foam mattress came a day after the main shipment of the bed. Bed is well built. Motors all work great. Took myself and my brother an hour to assemble because we missed the BIG RED TAPE labeled HARDWARE in the small cardboard box... ooops. Great bed, once the mattress showed up and was installed. This unit doesn't really lift up and lean the person forward as much as I thought it would, but it will work. Very comfortable. Foam is dense. I weigh 300lbs, laid on it; felt no pressure points. Lower bed height allowing her to sit into bed (she is 5''1"), allowing ease from wheelchair to bed. The adjustments from sitting up to getting off the bed, to capability of having multiple access of angles to allow perfect posture for eating, to laying down gave all the comfort I wanted to provide for her.
