  • Good entry mid level helmet.
Size: Large Color: Devil May Care Matte Black/Gray
Just got into riding a motorcycle. I was advised ball was a good mid level option for protection and budget friendly. The wind noise is quiet at 40 MPH. I hardly notice it and the vents work well and keep me cool and comfortable while riding. I got the “Devil May Care” helmet in a Large size and I absolutely love it. The only concern I have is the flexibility of the helmet. I can squeeze it and it flexed a fair amount not sure if that’s normal but just a small concern other than that it’s great and I love it. ... show more

  • The truth!
Size: Medium Color: Matte Black
I bought this for the Mips and the transition shield. I really feel much safer just knowing the Mips technology is in the helmet. I also LOVE the transition shield. Here are my thoughts a month later: Mips - I really do feel safer with the Mips technology. I hope I never need it but it is reassuring just knowing it's there Transition Shield - Best shield I've ever had or seen. I have really sensitive eyes and in the past have either worn sunglasses inside a clear shield or purchased smoke shields to block out the sun. Sunglasses can get uncomfortable and just add another layer to look through. Smoke shields work well until you get caught in the rain or out a little later than usual and can't see well out of them. This shield is clear when the sun isn't really bad and tinted when it is bright out. I wasn't sure if it would be dark enough, did I mention I have sensitive eyes? It works like a charm. When you're wearing it it seems like it's not working but I never squint and I see very clearly regardless of light condition. Thumbs up. Noise - I almost deducted a star because everyone is correct, it can be a little noisy at higher speeds. I even purchased the bluetooth intercom system made for the helmet thinking it would block some of the noise but it doesn't. The noise definitely comes from that area, as others have stated. However, I had an Arai helmet previously and it had lots of air circulation in it and was just as noisy. The noise is not overwhelming, no need for earplugs or anything else. It's just wind noise and I realize it's keeping me cooled. It's like any other helmet that offers good circulation if that helps. It is a good balance of both noise and breath-ability so I left the last star on. Size - Buy a size up for sure. I was really worried about buying the wrong size. I read all the comments and there were enough people saying buy a size up so I did. Really glad I did. Weight - After a prior neck surgery this was a big concern for me. I was looking at all the weights before buying. I knew ahead of time it wasn't as light as my Arai but that was an $800 helmet. I researched this quite a bit and in this price range it was one of the lightest I could find that still offered a great deal of safety and circulation. I will note that I purchased an HJC for riders and the HJC is a little lighter for what it's worth. However, it doesn't feel heavy and I don't even notice the weight when riding. Visibility - Nice big viewing area and as noted, crystal clear. It also has not fogged up yet even when riding when hot and muggy out. A+ ... show more

  • AWESOME, but SUPER tight around the eyes - GOOD LUCK getting glasses crammed in there
GREAT helmet! I really appreciate the solid yet lightweight feel of this helmet. Plus the name alone brings me a sense of comfort and safety, knowing Bell makes some of the best mid-range helmets in the world. Not to mention, this matches my bike's colors PERFECTLY! Lucky coincidence? Maybe, but it sure beats my old shiny black thing... Anyway: the good and not-so-good: The GOOD: The helmet looks fantastic. Once it's in, I have no trouble getting the strap on, and finding the little snap-keeper for the end. Taking it off is just as easy, once you learn where all the little parts are. The quick slide tab allows you to release the tension and get it off very fast - love that feature. The auto-shading lens is, well, PERFECT. It darkens quickly and gets to a shade that really does a fine job of cutting the glare. Just what one needs in my particular situation for needing to wear glasses. The helmet is lightweight, but substantial enough to feel like it's there, and doing what it's supposed to do. The air vents work great, they don't rattle in the wind, and they provide air to keep my head cool and my lens from fogging. The Not-So-Good: If you wear glasses of any kind, getting them on with the helmet is very challenging. There is ZERO room between your temples and the foam padding for your glass frame, so you have to force it in, and when they're in, your glasses sit cockeyed on your face. Not ideal, to say the least. I've just taken to wearing my contacts anytime I ride, and letting the auto=shade lens do the work of cutting the glare. No sunglasses necessary. ALSO, the little quick-slide tab on the strap? Although a great addition, and very useful, it's made of the gauziest material ever, and is already starting to look threadbare. It'll fall off after another season or two at the most. Kinda say they didn't use silk or another strong fabric, or maybe even a piece of leather? Once it's gone, I'll have to replace it somehow, as I really like how it releases the strap tension quickly. ... show more

  • Good value, but not an intermediate oval as advertised
Size: Large Color: Raiser Matte Black/Crimson
I bought this because it offered a lot of features and safety technology for the price. Unfortunately when I tried it on I discovered it was more for a round oval head shape rather than the intermediate oval it's advertised as, and had to return it. I read where Bell supposedly changed this and similar models from round to intermediate, so perhaps I got an older version. ... show more
