These seem to be among the more expensive pruning shears on Amazon. They came with a very sharp cutting blade and are more comfortable to use than most due to their dense foam grip coverings. I'm not sure how the foam will hold up over time and the foam seems to absorb water. (My lawn mower has a similar foam covering and the years have not treated it well.) I'm thinking about surrounding the grips with a protective wrapping of heat shrink. I like the continuous spring design because it is less likely to get snagged on cuttings, leaves, twigs, etc. A minor beef that can be remedied with a jeweler's file or sandpaper is that the safety latch is stamped and has semi-sharp edges on both sides. Overall, these are nice pruning shears. UPDATE: After not more than 2 hours of use, I noticed a small 1/4" tear in the foam surrounding the one of the handles of these pruning shears. I slipped a couple of sleeves of heat shrink around both handles with a couple of wraps of electrical tape toward the cutting end (see photo). This retains the cushioning of the foam and protects the foam from further deterioration. You might want to do something similar. I just now noticed that the little tab that is intended to keep the serrated nut from turning became disengaged through usage. This is visible in the photo. Aside from these beefs which might merit a quarter star deduction, I still like these pruning shears

It has taken me a while to get out to the garden this year, and it has been a fairly wet spring, so I had weeds and vines galore to clear before I could begin to plant. Thankfully, these Lyonsbarry shears made short work of lopping through even thick English ivy vines. Plus, the padded handle and gentle spring action make them comfortable to hold. These shears are definitely a step up from my last pair, and they seem built to last. Nothing puts a smile on my face like good gardening tools, and I am smiling! A++

Very sharp blade, time will tell how long it can stay shape before have to sharpen it. The foam cover on the handles makes it a little clumsy to use.

OK, so these look pretty expensive but, as of this writing, they come with a 50% off coupon. For half the price, they are really nice and definitely a recommended buy! These sure are better than my previous "cheap-o" pruners (from a local big box store) probably which cost around the same price. These pruners are just like the product images shown by the seller. The only thing I will add to this review is images of how they arrive. It is simple packaging but you don't need anything more. These pruners come pre-oiled (to prevent rust), have padded grips, and come with a locking mechanism. They are sized well (for my hands, anyway!). You see, the locking mechanism is in reach of my thumb so I can be holding the pruners, unlock them, use them, and re-lock them all without ever lifting my hand off of them. These pruners also do a good job snapping back to their open position every time you squeeze them to make a cut. I didn't have any fatigue using them. They come super-sharp and had no problem helping me cut back dead material in my garden. They are built really well and should work for a long time to come. A recommended buy!

These are some sharp and handy pruning shears, good for plants of all sizes and even handles touch ups on our bushes. My husbands gone through multiple sets of pruning shears in the last few years, but was quite impressed with these. My first thought was how solid these felt out of the box - they have a good weight to them, operate smoothly and easily, and appear to be made very well with high-quality materials. Once I gave them to my husband to use (he's the gardener), my thoughts were validated when he tried them out and reported they worked very well, better than most, and since that time he's used them several times. It may be the best pruning shears he's used! Overall I was impressed and my husband was impressed, and these shears certainly have earned five stars.

These pruners really are heavy duty and well made. They fit comfortably in my hand and work really well. I use them in the garden all the time to prune back bushes, roses, etc, and they work perfectly. I've used them on branches up to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch in diameter and they've worked every time so I'm really pleased with them. They seem to be well made and hefty so with proper care, I expect them to last a long time.

After years of getting by with cheap shears in our garden, these have come to save us - wow! I guess I didn't realize what we were missing, as I thought most of what made fancy shears fancy was just comfortable handles. I was wrong! Although these do have exceptionally comfortable handles, it is the general function and design that is so great. These are wildly sharp and robust. They feel like cutting through just about anything in their range would be easy. Hard, woody branches as thick as my thumb were easy with these. Time will tell on durability and corrosion resistance, but I'm thinking that as long as I can keep these out of the rain they will last for years to come.

These have good cushioned handles and a positive lock to keep them locked shut when your not using them. Very sharp and easy cutting.
