Have not had a chance to use these since there is still over two feet of snow on the ground here in Alaska. These are very sharp, well made and has that nice blade sing when using. These are designed for precision cutting of topiary, Iris in the fall and grasses. They are not to be used on branches and woody growth on old Boxwood and large hedges. Get yourself a large pair of American or European made clippers for that. Like Japanese saws, knives, etc. these are for precision work. Highly recommend. Looks like carbon steel or similar and should be carefully wiped down after use and apply a light coat of oil to the blades. Keep sharpened for best results. ... show more

As soon as the box arrived I snipped at my shabby hedge and could not believe how easy these things work. I'm hoping to try my hand at basic topiary and these are a good start. Quiet! Sharp! Lightweight!

Out of the box they were oiled really well. Used them 1 time to see how they worked and put them away. After the second real use i wiped the blades to get the grass and water off and the next time i went to use them they were rusted. They work ok on some grass but just krimps other grass. Too much money to waste ... show more

Absolutely the BEST hedge shears I've ever owned ... and I've been gardening for a VERY long time. Before I would always cheap out and buy some less expensive shears but decided to treat myself this time as I am not getting any younger and anything that eases my gardening is appreciated. So glad I did. Slice through even thick bushes like butter. Go ahead and treat yourself to an excellent tool as I did ... instead of going for the cheaper ones that you know you will end up throwing away after a season. ... show more

Received these shears today, and tried them out already. They are great. These shears do what they are claimed to do, which is to give a total clean trim. And, to my delight the vegetation does not get jammed uncut between the shear blades. I would give these hedge shears more stars if available, and I highly recommend them to anyone for jobs big and small. ... show more
