Description

Fiskars Pruning Stik Tree Pruner makes it easy to cut high or low with a level of control that traditional pruners with exterior ropes can't match. A long, lightweight pole lets you cut high branches without the hassles and dangers of using a ladder, make low cuts without sore knees from kneeling or back strain from bending, and reach into dense, prickly shrubs or tight spots. The pole extends up to 12 feet and locks securely, giving you needed reach to cut the highest branches. The rope-free design means you can use both hands to maximize your power and accuracy, and an easy-to-grip sliding handle makes the pruning action smooth and simple. An actuating ball at the end of the pole lets you reach even farther and still prune with precision, an included 15-inch saw blade makes it easy to take down thicker branches, and the cutting head rotates up to 230 degrees to let you prune and saw at difficult angles. The fully hardened, precision-ground blade stays sharp, and a low-friction, rust-resistant coating makes every cut smoother.

  • This tree pruner is so much easier to use than those with the rope pulls.
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
I am a 78 year old woman that has taken over yard maintenance since my husband has been having more problems with mobility. We have a crab apple tree that had a number of dead branches in addition to other trees with the same problem. I trimmed as many as I could with my new extendable lopper, but many were still out of reach. My husband had a similar tool, but the lopper was controlled with a rope pull. In addition, the saw was not detachable. I did try to use this tool, but most often, the saw got in the way when trying to position the lopper. In addition, when I could position the lopper, the rope cut into my hand when I tried to cut anything over 1" in diameter. I found this tool and decided to buy it. This tree pruner/pole saw works so much better than the one my husband has. Granted, at least for me, the weight at an extended length is heavy holding it on an angle with or without the saw, but this could be an age thing. So what do I like about this tool. 1) The adjustment to extend it up to 12' is very easy. 2) The saw is removable. So it doesn't get in the way when you are using this only as a lopper. 3) Cutting dead branches up to 1" in diameter is much easier than using the rope type. 4) The saw works well, but only on branches that are near a stable branch or trunk. 5) The pole and design of this tool looks to be very durable. 6) Cutting small branches is extremely quick, but thicker branches take some effort. Overall, I like this pruning tool much better than the rope type my husband has, and would recommend it. Cutting small branches is not hard when doing it from an angle, but much easier when doing it from below the branch. Just have to make sure the branch doesn't fall on on you. I find the lopper much more useful than the saw. It may be an age thing, but, when the pole is extended, even just the lopper at the end feels heavy especially when cutting on an angle. Cutting from below is easier to control the weight. UPDATE 09/02/25: Since we have quite a few trees with dead branches, I have been using the trimmer part of this tool quite often. Any dead branches 1" or smaller are very easy to cut on any tree, but I have noticed that anything larger than 1" can be more difficult for hard wood trees. Today, I tried to cut a 2" branch on a crab apple tree. I got the trimmer onto the branch, which required the full extension. I couldn't cut the branch, so I asked my husband to help. I held the cutter while he pulled the cutter. We braced the end of the pole on the banister of the deck. Between the two of us we couldn't even make a dent in the branch. Tomorrow I will try to remove this branch with the saw. Maybe it's an age thing, but I have noticed that I can hold up the trimmer when it's fully extended for only so long before I need a break. I do have strong arms, but this tool gets heavy after extended use. I hope this review was helpful for you. ... show more

  • Great tool for the homeowner - March 2024 update at end of review.
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
Ok, i've only had the tool for a day so this is a preliminary review. First, there are no instructions included except for those included on the packaging insert. (Although use of the tool is very intuitive, so this is not really an issue.) Second, as mentioned in another review; it is difficult to remove the packaging from the head. I recommend heavy duty shears. The tool is what I've been looking for to trim vertical limbs directly overhead. It meets this need very well. The adjustable head makes it usable for most limbs from horizontal to directly overhead. The tool comes with a 15" saw blade, but I have not tried this yet. The tool is easy to use and fairly lightweight. Adjusting the cutting angle and the length of the pole is very easy and secure. Cutting limbs up to 1/2" is very easy. Very little force (pulling on the handle or ball on bottom of pole) is required to perform the cut. For limbs over 1/2" up to 3/4" a small amount of force is necessary, but not excessively so. For limbs over 3/4", some force is required. I attempted to cut a 1" branch and the cutter failed to release from the branch after not completing the cut. Moving the tool back and forth in the plain of the blades released it. I'm not sure I'd recommend attempting cuts much above 3/4". While the tool is durable, it IS lightweight. All in all, i'm very pleased with the tool. It makes a nice addition to my rope type extension cutter/pruner and my pole chainsaw. March update: I've now used the tool multiple times on several trees. I still give it a 5 star rating. I've had no issues with the tool and it's paid for itself in short order. (A professional trimmer will charge $200-$300 to top out a tree.) As I previously stated, I purchased this tool to prune vertical limbs directly overhead. I'm able to do this with ease. It is almost impossible to do this with a standard extension pruner. The lightness of the tool combined with the adjustable head also makes it ideal for trimming limbs near horizontal. ... show more

  • Great design, fantastic tool for palm lovers
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
This has quickly become my favorite garden tool. We have a palm collection, including many Mediterranean fan palms and Phoenix reclinatas--both with sharp spines along the petioles. This allows me to cut fronds from a distance without reaching into the plants. The rotating head allows me to quickly change the angle for the best cut. It's light enough, feels durable, and makes my life so much easier. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ... show more

  • Solid and reliable tree pruner with great reach
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
This extendable tree pruner is really well‑built and handy for trimming high branches without needing a ladder. The lightweight design and rope‑free mechanism make it easy to handle, and the extendable pole up to about 12 feet gives plenty of reach for most backyard jobs. The rotating cutting head and sharp blades work efficiently, and overall it does exactly what it’s supposed to for garden maintenance. I took off a star only because it took a bit of practice to get used to the grip and angle, but for the price and performance it’s a great tool. ... show more

  • Designed thoughtfully
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
Really well designed and high quality. The more I use it the more I like it. It can cut 1 inch thick branches; it's light, and it's easy to make adjustments in pole length and the angle of the cutter. I bought it almost 4 years ago.

  • Excellent performance; easy to maneuver; decent build quality; smooth cutting action
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
I'm very pleased with this tree trimmer. The overall build quality is very good for the price. It's not "professional" quality that would stand up to hours of use every day, but for typical homeowner use it's more than adequate. The pole extends pretty easily and stays in place without any slippage even when making large cuts. The stated cutting diameter of 1.25 inches is accurate. Cuts are smooth and easy. I also have the Fiskars pole trimmer that uses a rope pull, and the more compact size of this trimmer makes it far easier to maneuver and cut without the head unit getting hung up on branches. It is also lighter, which makes a big difference when using it for a full afternoon. On the flip side, the rope pull Fiskars can deal with larger cuts more easily since the pulley system provides greater leverage. Fiskars also makes a 5 foot version of this that has a fixed pole. It has the same head and cutters, cuts the same 1.25 inch max diameter, but doesn't come with the blade attachment as this extendable one does. It's hard to find but well worth getting in addition to this for when you don't need the long reach of the extendable pole. A great tool to have for extended reach pruning, and a solid value for the price. Five stars. ... show more

  • Effective tree trimmer to save $ Effective tree trimmer to save $
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
Excellent tree pruner. The adjustable head angle is a game changer. It's true that plastic parts will create durability issues so cut one inch branches or below to keep it from breaking and when mounting the saw, brace the back of the saw on the unit so it's stronger. I have prune fifty (1-inch or less) and saw about five (3-inch thick) branches thus far and still working great. Overall, it saved me $400 thus far. ... show more

  • Convenient, Quality, Easy
Style: 8-12 ft Rope-Free Saw & Pruner
These extendable loppers are most definitely handy as they reach generously high. Do not expect them to cut branches bigger than about an inch though, that’s not what they’re designed for. They take a little getting used to but after a few cuts, lining up and operation is a breeze. Keep adjustments tight and don’t try to cut anything to big causing too much pull and pressure to be applied which will damage the tool and likely the cutting portion as well as snap the strap. Doing this will also loosen the extender lock creating it to no longer hold tight. Keep an eye on the strap from time to time ensuring that it is not twisted around so that it will not get hung up. As far as use with the attachable saw blade, it seems less solid and operation is a little flimsy. Normal pushing and pulling actions when sawing doesn’t work the best with this unit setup as the pushing seems to bind up a bit and is less effective. When sawing, it does better when pulling/dragging action is performed. This is likely due to the fact that the saw blade is not a solid part of the unit but rather a detachable piece (for convenience and convertibility) which is its weakness and makes the saw seem a little on the flimsy side. With some know-how, the saw still works decently though. When using this tool, never heavily pull or yank on it as it will damage the unit, let the cutters and the saw blade do the work especially when extended as more extension requires more finesse. There are plenty of easy maintenance and repair videos on Fiskars site as well as the net. These are great for personal use and seem like they’d be good for professional landscaping needs as well. This size is great for reaching high places and the style in our opinion is better than having to separately pull a rope with the other hand like other units which is more cumbersome. This unit has the cutting operations conveniently built into the handle and is much easier. This multi-use tool is very convenient and We’ve really come to like it a lot as it’s been very useful. Plus Fiskars brand is good, solid quality compared to many, in our experiences. Definitely recommend this tool. 👍🏽 ... show more
