Unlike other models Lux thermostats allow you to set the "Swing"
Style: Manual
I have an steam boiler that heats an old brick three-flat. For the steam to be evenly distributed to all units, the boiler must be energized for an extended period of time. So I need to set "the swing" (the degree difference between the cut-on and cut-off settings) at 2.5 degrees. But most of the current thermostats don't allow you to program the swing (which is factory set, usually at 0.25 or 0.5 degrees). If I used those thermostats, the first floor unit would be warm and the third floor unit would be cold. So I appreciate that Lux thermostats allow the customer to set the swing according to their unique needs. Plus a wider swing will prevent your boiler or furnace/AC from cycling excessively. As far as the remaining features, the Lux is user-friendly and easy to program. Reasonably priced, as well. Five stars from me!

Pretty good. Very basic, but functional. Whole numbers only.
Style: Manual
So far I'm pretty impressed. My old one was starting to have troubles (it would actually randomly cut the fan off and on a lot during cooling) so I decided to take a chance on a brand I've never heard of. One of the first things I noticed between the two is the old one is a lot more old fashioned with huge capacitors and resistors everywhere and etc while this one has almost nothing at all on the back end of the board and presumably small SMD components on the front. Much more modern definitely. The screen is very clear and easy to work with -- far better than the old one -- and programming is overall easier except some of the advanced settings are very proprietary (some are just numbers. Setting #1, 1, 2, 3, etc.) If you lose the manual you have to pull it apart to see the very minimal guide on the inside (which doesn't go into details) or google for another copy of the manual. Chances are you never need to change any of those after the first time though and I'd bet that it remembers them even if the batteries die. Pretty much the only real room for improvement I really saw is that, as usual, there are only whole numbers. With Fahrenheit this isn't as big of a deal, but if you like to use Celsius as I do, at many times you really kind of want a bit more precision (0.5 intervals would probably be perfect.) One degree change in Celsius is equivalent almost to two degrees Fahrenheit (more or less anyway,) so while I understand the oversight since most develop these with Fahrenheit in mind, it is a bit annoying that so few think of this. I set the swing temperature a bit higher (setting #8, value on 2 if I recall) and it helps a bit since it will cool just a tiny bit more before it shuts off, but it also takes a bit longer to kick in I suppose. After some playing around I seem to have found a point that is fairly comfortable anyway, but it seems silly because I tested its temperature calibration and I think it internally does actually recognize 0.1C precision internally, it just doesn't give you access to that level of precision.

When something works. . .
Style: P711
These thermostats work great. Not everyone has a system that the Google Nest works with. This will work with a system without a control wire. The setup was a little slow going but after reading the instructions a few times, I was able to program the thermostats pretty simply

Good instructions, easy to install
Style: P711
I used this on electric baseboard heaters that had a low voltage connection via my power panel. Easy to follow instructions, labels for wires. took all of 10 minutes to install. Of the 10 minutes, 5 were waiting to check heat was coming on. Easy to program as well if you want it.

Great features, great price.
Style: Manual
As advertised, setup was fast and easy. I've installed a few thermostats in the past, so I had a leg up, regardless, I really like this one. Everything works as it should, but I really appreciate the settings menu. I have never had a thermostat with this menu before, and I love it. You can change between 2 or 4 temp changes a day, and between a 5/2 program, or a full 7 day program. My favorite feature though, is the ability to set the temperature sway, meaning I can cut my cooling costs even further by setting the system to allow for a full degree (actually up to 2.25 degrees, but I use 1) of temperature rise before the system kicks on again. I live in a hot climate, and the electricity bills during the summer are insane. I'll take it where I can get it, and this Lux thermostat delivers at an easy-to-swallow price.

Works well, but requires too many button presses for quick changes
Style: Manual
Works well enough. My only gripe is the first button press only turns on the LCD backlight and view the current room temperature. A second press then allows you to see the programmed temperature. A THIRD press actually starts to change the programmed temperature. Too many presses if you just want to turn up or down the temp by one degree. The reason for so many button presses is because the unit never displays BOTH the programmed temp and the actual temp at the same time. Luckily, the programming options are numerous and once you have it set for your daily changes, you'll likely never need to touch it again.

Great, simple thermostat
Style: P711V-010
Works the way we want it to - and we have control (unlike with a smart thermostat). Great price, too. Very happy with this purchase.
