When I did open it the lamp was okay but the bulb was shattered. I thought I could just put another low wattage bulb as a replacement but it takes a special bulb. I ordered 2 of these lights. One works beautifully…the other light worked for a couple hours and then went out. I installed two sets of new batteries and even changed the light bulb but it would never come back on. Since they both were working when I first got them, I tossed the boxes and now unable to return the bad one for replacement or refund.
