I ordered this for same day delivery while my mother was in the hospital having hip replacement surgery. It was very easy to assemble and install, even by myself. The hardest part was getting the strap under the mattress, as the mattress is very thick and heavy. You might need two people to install it depending on the weight of your mattress. Despite the thickness of the mattress, the height of the handle works well. My mom was so happy when I surprised her with it. She’s been using it now for about two weeks, and it has been so helpful. She says she wishes she’d gotten it a couple of years sooner. The light is a nice extra for emergencies when the power goes out, but otherwise my mom has decided to turn it off. She has a nightlight just outside her room which he prefers, and her dog moving around in the night was setting off the light on the handrail. I highly recommend this bed rail. I really like the bed rail from Lunderg. Getting ready for knee surgery and needed something to help me get out of bed. This product worked great. It is very stable and not wobbly in the least. I like the automatic night light that magnetically attaches to the frame. It is a real help in the middle of the night. It "sees" almost any movement and lights the floor around the bed. When I return the light comes on the minute I come around the end of the bed. It comes with a strap that you can loop around the frame that slips under the mattress and attach to the rail on the other side of the bed for extra stability. I did not need that and was too lazy to fight our king mattress. I did have a question with customer service and the response was very quick and very positive. This product is designed well but built to very loose tolerances. This makes it super easy to assemble, but pretty darn shakey even after the “mickey mouse” grade safety strap is pulled under the mattress and tightened as tight as it will go against the opposite bed frame. My wife has had major back surgery. I know this will be sturdy enough for her to use to assist her getting in and out of bed, but I was sure looking for something more solid. Again….it is NOT a bad product so I gave it 4 stars… It just doesn’t measure up to what I think are reasonable expectations given the anticipated usage. Tighter tolerances and at least two times wider “under the mattress” bracing could have made it a great product. ... show more

I got this particular guardrail because it's short and not long. It allows me to turn to my side and pull myself up to get out of bed after a recent hip surgery. It comes with a rechargeable (usb) nightlight that lights up automatically when you walk close to it or pull yourself up which is great for getting up in the middle of the night to use the restroom. I liked mine so well that I bought one for my sister for her 69th birthday. I called it the old lady birthday gift. Practical . She loves hers too because it's non intrusive to the room.
