  • Very nice sturdy printer worth the money.
Its a very nice printer its beefy and fast.A lot of my bigger prints I can print in have the time of my old one and double the quality. It does pretty much every thing it's self you just insert the SD card and tell it to print and it does the rest.If you can afford it I would recommend this printer.

  • Multiple Glitches and Faulty Parts
I haven't been able to get one successful print. First, before my first print, the following occurred: 1.) The software (Cura Lulzbot Edition) for the Workhorse model wasn't easy to find because it was in a list of other downloads in a wordpad-like webpage. (come on guys, it's a higher end printer. The least you can do is making the user interface on your website decent. Let me know if you need some help..). So I ended up picking what appeared to be the latest file on the list (which would make sense..). I couldn't find the workhorse model option after downloading that version. I found out later that the correct download was another random one somewhere in the middle of that poorly labeled list. By the way, I forgot to mention that I e-mailed the Lulzbot support group asking what could have been wrong, but after almost a week, I still haven't heard back. So after trial and error, I found the right download which ended up working. 2.) After that, I needed to replace the small amount of filament that it comes loaded with, but I couldn't pull it out for some reason. After 15 minutes of investigation, I found out that the material was somehow melted into a blob that was larger than the feed throat. Since the feed throat is plastic, I didn't want to force it out, or else the printed feed throat would likely break.. I didn't want to risk voiding the warranty on this expensive printer. I practically had to surgically get a nippers into the very narrow passage to cut the blob off of the rest of the filament to free it. Then I had to get the blob out of the feed, which took another 20 min. After that I didn't have an issue feeding the supplied filament sample into the extruder. 3.) Then I was finally ready for my first print! Nope.. after hitting the print button, the printer started calibration. Immediately after it started alarming with an error message stating that the heater bed wasn't heating. Just what I needed.. I unplugged and replugged all of the wires that led to the moving bed and tried again. Guess what, it didn't work. So now I'm sitting here, a couple weeks after receiving and assembling this thing.. and I still can't print. Most expensive paperweight that I have ever bought. Incredibly disappointed. Still waiting on the Lulzbot team to answer my first email so that I can bring up this faulty equipment claim. Even if they are willing to take it back, disassembly and repackaging this beast isn't going to be easy, fast, or cheap.. and if I try to dig deeper and repair it, I risk voiding the warranty and being stuck with the expensive paperweight. I only gave it two stars because I'm guessing this would have been a nice printer, if it worked. ... show more

  • I wouldn't be happy...
The media could not be loaded. In the box, you get the printer, sample PLA to print the test part, a tool kit, SD card, and power and USB cables. Once unpacked it is a simple process to attach the bed assembly, connect the wires, and get to printing. The included toolkit comes in a nice bag and contains many tools and items that you will need. I thought that was a very nice inclusion. I have attached a picture of the included items. After setting it all up and attempting the test print I did have a few problems; I couldn't remove the small piece of filament that was in the printer from the factory and the printer bed would not heat up. The filament had an L shape on the end that wouldn't allow me to remove it. There wasn't enough space to allow me to get a cutter in and so I ended up just twisting and pulling really hard and finally got it out. It wasn't an ideal situation. I saw others talk about this problem online. Then to the bed, I rechecked the electrical connections and had no luck. I checked and support was open for another hour so I called. Someone answered in a minute just asked me for my name and phone number then what my problem was. He immediately said to take the side off the printer and check the bed cable connection inside the printer. He was correct and that fixed the problem. In retrospect, I should have done that on my own but I got stuck in the mindset that this was a new product so I shouldn't be messing with its internals yet. Anyway, support was quick and accurate in the diagnosis so that was nice. I'm not a 3D printing noob but I'm not an expert either. I started with a Monoprice Mini V2 and then I bought and built a Prusa I3 MK3 kit and then upgraded it to an MK3S. I've had it for over a year. So I am not going into this TAZ as if it was my first printer. I have had the PLA stringing problems even with the included review spool of PLA that I have seen others talk about. I used it up and then moved on to a roll of Gizmo Dorks Color Change Purple to Pink ABS and I have been having better luck with that. In time I will move on to other rolls once I open them but for now, this is what I have used. I will update later when I have tried the others. I also did a filament change in the middle of a print and it worked flawlessly. When I sit down and think about it I would not have been happy if I had paid the full price for this printer. I would rather have 3x MK3S printers for the price of the TAZ. The print quality is not better, it isn't faster, uses a less common filament size, it is harder to remove prints, and it is louder than my MK3S. Really to me, all it has is a little larger print volume. The latest news about the LulzBot company says that they are in trouble. My support experience happened before they reducted staff by eliminating 91 of their 113 employees. I have read they are looking for a buyer and are trying to get rid of excess inventory. In the end, I wouldn't recommend this printer unless you find it steeply discounted or know that you need it for a specific reason. I want to like it but to me, it just isn't worth 3x the cost of a Prusa given the performance that I've seen from it. Also given LulzBot's current company situation I'd be wary of future support. ... show more

  • Good Printer
I bought this printer from lulzbot's site so I don't know anything about the amazon seller, but the printer itself is very nice. It's extremely study and produces some very nice parts with little effort. My one minor complaint is the software which I had some difficulty installing because of dependency issues. ... show more

  • Best printer on the market for mass priting
I have had Lulzbot for a few years now. I own a Mini v1 and 2 Taz 6 printers. They are awesome machines but I do worry about the company and the recent sell of it.

  • Buyer Beware of SD Card Slot and lack of USB Support
I own the Taz 6, which is nearly identical to the Taz "Workhorse". One major issue is the lack of a USB slot. Eventually the SD slot will wear out, and this presents a major problem when trying to print stand-alone so that the Printer is not tethered to the computer. For almost $4,000, you'd think that a USB slot would be standard. Also, Lulzbot went out of business and was then bought by FAME in North Dakota. The Tech support is less than what it used to be, they seem demoralized, so you might want to take that into consideration. ... show more
