This is an excellent value!! First of all, the the ukulele itself has fantastic action and great playability, and a very comfortable neck. this is exactly what a beginner needs in order to succeed. I really loved the feel of the carbon strings, they didn’t take too long to settle in tune, usually new ukuleles and strings take a considerable amount of time to settle in. These settled in very nicely. The build quality of the ukulele is excellent, I couldn’t find any flaws in the construction. The fret ends are nice and smooth, a compensated saddle provides better tuning stability and the enclosed tuners are nice, and work very well. As far as looks, this is a beautiful instrument. Gorgeous wood grain with a nice semi gloss finish I absolutely love the horse inlay at the 12th fret. Nice touch! The head stock logo is also beautiful. In addition to this excellent instrument you get a very good padded gig bag, strap(with 2 strap buttons already on the ukulele), capo, extra strings and picks. The media could not be loaded. The ukulele has a nice loud projection while still being able to deliver a warmth when needed. I stuck an electronic tuner on it and played up and down the neck and found just about every fret delivered a note that was in tune - a definite plus that is not often found at this price point. The ukulele appears to be made of a laminate based on what I can see from the soundhole. With that being said, laminate should not be a deal breaker considering how good it sounds. NOTE: I have other ukuleles made from laminated wood and they sound great. The package includes a strap, capo, picks, extra strings, and a nicely padded gig bag. There are other packages out there that only include a flimsy drawstring bag which offers pretty much no protection. This is a nice gig bag. There was no clip-on tuner included, but you can download any number of free tuner apps that you can use instead. Overall, this would be great ukulele package for those looking to buy their first ukulele. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I was provided this ukulele for review, but would have happily paid the advertised price to have it! It’s an excellent ukulele for a beginner just starting out (like me!), and I think it would bring joy to a more experienced player as well. The mahogany top, sides, and back have a nice grain pattern of alternating light and dark areas and the satin stain has a rich honey-amber glow that is especially beautiful on the side grain. I tried to It show off as much as I could in the photos and videos, but it’s even more beautiful in person. Sound is good. No buzzing, good sustain, nice and bright tone from the D’addario strings. I was impressed with the gig bag: nice construction, good zippers, roomy front pocket, good padding. The logo on the bag (also repeated on the headstock) looks nice as well. I was not as impressed with the included accessories: 2” wide strap (too wide in my opinion), guitar sized capo, and no tuner. Extra strings were included, so that’s a nice thing. I’d much rather have had a tuner than the capo. Overall, a great value and a very nice instrument. If this is your 2nd (or more) instrument, you likely have a tuner and won’t miss it not being included. If you’re a new player - or purchasing as a gift - make sure to get a tuner as well so you’re ready to go when you get the ukulele! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I was sent the soprano ukulele to review from the company a couple of days ago. It is a nice little instrument for the beginner right out of the box. The construction is very solid and the string height is excellent. This makes it pretty easy to begin learning to play. Out of the box the sound and feel of the instrument is okay. To get the best feel and sound out of this ukulele I had to do a little work on it. I started by changing the strings. The installed strings were very dull sounding. This must be due to it being shipped and stored. It did come with an extra set of strings so I installed those. That helped this ukulele a lot! It made the sound nice and bright instead of muddy. I may put some high end strings on it at some point to see how that helps the sound. The second thing I did was take a 320 grit sanding block over the ends of the fret wires. They were not sharp enough to cut you but pretty close. Now they are smooth and feel great. The last thing I did was to correct two small construction blemishes. There was a small drip of finish on the edge of the sound hole which sanded off easily and the white binding on the bridge stuck out a little past the ends. I hit that with some sand paper as well and now it is flush and pretty. Overall, this is a great instrument for the beginner. It also comes with some high quality extras. The gig bag is beautiful and has a pocket to carry the extras. The capo is nice to have too but I would have preferred a clip on tuner. I think most beginners will get more use out of a tuner than the capo. At $54 it is a good package deal. Happy playing! ... show more
