There's a video review posted here by somebody who I'm sure is perfectly good at their rocket science day job showing the brackets that secure the back of this chair flexing wildly when even the slightest pressure is supplied. This person is SO good at their day job that they've decided they don't need instructions for something as simple as chair assembly, and as a result, they've installed their brackets incorrectly. There are TWO holes that secure the brackets to the chair base, and they've moved their bracket back by an inch or two, allowing them to only secure the bracket at a single point (which is obviously not going to be very strong). I can assure you that if you assemble this chair as designed, it doesn't flex like in that video. It feels just as solid as any other task chair I've sat in, and I'd say it feels better than most of the $150 Office Depot bargain bin ones that I've bought. The bottom cushion is quite firm, which gives me hope that it'll make it more than a year, and for me, the lumbar support is just right ... but I have a sore back that likes a little extra lumbar support, so this will be an individual thing. Just know that this chair does have lumbar support, and I'd say it's in the upper 25% of chairs in terms of how much it provides. I'm a 215lb 6'4" male and it's just right for me, so if you're half my weight, it might be too much for you. The assembly was extremely similar to other chairs I've done, with the only added bit of work being that the stand didn't come as a single piece, and instead as a hub to which each of the spokes had to be screwed with two screws. That's a net of 10 extra screws over one that comes with a 1-piece stand ... wasn't a big deal for me (and took maybe 5-10 extra minutes), but if that's a deal killer for you, keep it in mind. Overall, the assembly was LESS frustrating than the last Serta chair I put together from the office chair, which required extra work to route cables for controls in the arms and a few extra bits for an active lumbar support (this has none of that nonsense, being only $160). My copy of this chair (thankfully) had none of the extra gloppy bits of plastic in the holes that some of the other reviews have shown, if I'd had that, I'd probably have just asked Amazon to swap out the whole thing for me. Overall, I paid $600 for my last Serta and $160 for this. The difference in quality between the two is significantly less than the $440 difference in cost ... I suppose that the biggest differentiator will probably be in warranty, which has been rock solid when I've needed to deal with it for the Serta chairs. I can buy almost 4 of these for the cost of a Serta, though, so I'm not that concerned by that!

I am pleasantly surprised by how much I ended up liking this chair. The lumbar and back support is what shines for me since I noticed a decrease in slouching. The foam feels soft but sturdy. I have not needed to use the 'position locking' feature yet. For anyone who is around 5'5' and 130 lbs, I think this chair would work well. It was also super easy to set up. The armrests came with stains - It difficult to see in the pictures.

I just completed setting up the desk chair. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The manufacturer included extra parts “just in case” In my work as an instructional designer, I sometimes spend hours at my desk. This chair is ergonomically flawless: excellent lumbar support, a deep, comfortable seat, folding arms that enable me to position the chair close to the desk when not in use, and several ways to customize adjustment (e.g., height, tension, recline). I purchased the chair in tan and white, colors that complement the furniture in my office. Ergonomically and aesthetically, the desk chair meets my needs and exceeds my expectations. For those of you who spend time in front of a desk, I recommend this chair without hesitation or reservation.

it took awhile to put together. i did so with just me. it is a solid chair..easy to move around. my complaint is it cannot tilt forward to provide back support. I am 5 ft 7 inch. i will put up with this due to the money involved. i will not purchase again. it does move up and down easily. i get little lumbar support due to the no tilt issue.
