Yes the grips are a bit rough on the fingers. I read the reviews before buying them and decided to pair them with a $5 pack of Wilson tennis overgrips. Excellent choice on my part! I love the feel now. Just the finger side needs wrapped to minimize the hand wear and can leave the poundage exposed. Overall the grips seems like they will hold up.     • Knurling is VERY sharp

These hand grippers (I bought the 100/150/200lbs set) are strong and well made, and give a good workout. However, the knurling is too deep, and is ripping holes in my skin. I don't have pansy hands, and am used to lifting knurled barbells, but the texture of the handles on these grippers is actually sharp. No problem for doing a couple of occasional reps, but for actual grip training they're a bit much. The knurling doesn't have to be so agressive. Unless your hands are dripping with sweat (wipe them!) your hands won't slip on plain, brushed, or slightly knurled metal. I'm going to have to tape my hands or wrap the handles to use these grippers, which is a pain in the butt, but not insurmountable. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. There exactly how the description describes them but the only thing I don’t really like is they are kind of uncomfortable for me is the grips, so what I did I end up taking the foam grips off of one of my old ones and putting up there and it’s a perfect fit

They work great, been using to build strength after wrist operation. Texture is a little rough on the hands but work I in the trades anyways, just helping build the callouss' back as well :) . If concerned about rough grip, could easily add rubber/tape/etc. to cover and still be just as functional.
