There are lots of other brands of cast-iron skillets out there with the only one I will ever trust is lodge. This skillet has got some weight to it . I bought a 12 inch. I am so glad that it has a handle on each side. I love the sear that you can get with this cast iron skillet. As long as you take care of it and rub a light coat of oil on it every time you clean it, it will last you a lifetime. ... show more

    • Lodge is the best bang for the buck when it comes to cast iron.
Came preseasoned, and was loosely packaged so it was banging around in the box. But it's cast iron, so it could've damaged other stuff, but was undamaged itself. Lodge is the best bang for the buck in cast iron cookware. It's just good stuff. You can buy a better cast iron skillet, but it'll cost you 8x the price. ... show more
