  • Exceptional Tool for Diagnosing Engine Issues
Style: Stethoscope Kit
I recently purchased the Lisle 52750 Mechanics Stethoscope, and it has become an indispensable part of my toolkit. Here’s why I highly recommend it: Dual Purpose: This stethoscope is a versatile gem. It detects both mechanical sounds and air-induced sounds with precision. Mechanical Sounds: The black diaphragm chamber and screw-in metal probe allow me to pinpoint mechanical issues—whether it’s bearings, engines, or transmissions. The clarity of the amplified sounds is impressive. Air-Induced Sounds: When dealing with vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, or wind noise, I attach the vinyl hose to the hollow tube and funnel assembly. The funnel amplifier works like a charm. Durability: The build quality is robust, ensuring longevity even in demanding automotive environments. Ease of Use: Whether I’m working on cars, trucks, or motorcycles, this stethoscope simplifies diagnostics. It’s lightweight and ergonomic. Overall, the Lisle 52750 Mechanics Stethoscope is a must-have for any serious mechanic or DIY enthusiast. It’s like having a doctor’s stethoscope for your vehicle! 🚗🔧👂 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I’m thoroughly impressed by Lisle’s commitment to quality. This tool has saved me time and frustration. Highly recommended! 👍 ... show more

  • Excellent - especially with a little common sense
Style: Stethoscope Kit
The ‘scope works like a champ! Was able to track down an arcing electrical contact under the hood with the engine running. While searching, I used the closed attachment and was able to hear fuel injectors firing, fuel and air running through hoses, mechanical items, etc. In the end, I used the open attachment to track down the arc, then the closed attachment to pinpoint and verify the component. This scope works beautifully! I previously bought and returned an amplified version because all I could hear through it was ambient engine noise. This mechanical one from Lisle works much better for a LOT always money. Others have complained about one of the ear tubes being blocked, but mine were both fine. Now on to the “hatin’” :) I read a lot of complaints that, now that I’ve used this item, are frankly ridiculous. Honestly, you’d have to be dim to not get how this item works. 1) “it hurts your ears” - the ear pieces are drawn together using a strip of spring steel. It was little tight on my head out of the package - 3 seconds of bedding the “spring” outward and what do you know - no more pinching! Personally, I would prefer a smaller ear tip, but I could easily accomplish that with a little sanding. 2) “no instructions” - wow. There is a closed-ended rod with an “amplifier” that is used for sound conduction by touching the item you want to test. There is also an open attachment with a “funnel” on the end that is used to track down vacuum or pressure leaks, or to isolate a sound prior to pinpointing it with the other attachment. The attachments slip into the end of the pickup tube. That’s it. Honestly, if you can figure out how to use this ‘scope, or how to bend/shape the earpieces to be more comfortable, or how to drill out one of the ear tubes if it’s blocked (which definitely is a defect), then you just don’t need this device - any problem you might be able to track down with it would definitely be beyond anything you should be attempting to repair yourself. If these issues seem difficult to deal with then please take your car to a repair shop!! Anyway, this is a great tool that works as advertised and exceeded my expectations. Any reasonable DIY’er should be able to understand and customize this tool for their individual purposes/comfort. ... show more

  • Works great, but the part that goes in your ears not so comfortable
Style: Stethoscope Kit
After decades of using a length of small heater hose/tubing or an extra long screwdriver pressed against my skull, I decided to buy one of these things with my rewards points. I really needed to pinpoint a sound source in a difficult spot, so I thought this would be a better choice over the hose/screwdriver trick. Also there are other moving parts going on nearby and just add to the noise in the general area. With this thing I can put the 1/8" dia probe in a very specific spot. The attached diaphragm boosts the sound so I can hear even the slightest nuance. Haven't really tried the air noise attachment, but it seems really good just playing around with it. The only serious drawback it has are the ear pieces, they are just uncomfortable for me. I also wish it had a slightly longer tubing section for more reach without it pulling on my ears. Overall a great tool to have when you need it. ... show more

  • This works really well
Style: Stethoscope Kit
This stethoscope comes with both the direct-contact rod and a listening cone. I've come to prefer the listening cone. It picks up faint sounds and is very directional, so I can listen to moving parts from a safe distance. I've used it to diagnose a broken water pump on my truck. It can pick up the faintest sounds, like transformer hum from a power brick. The headset has a strong spring to it, so it won't fall out of your ears. ... show more

  • Lived up to expectations
Style: Stethoscope Kit
I've always used a long screwdriver with handle end held to ear with metal end as probe with moderate success. With vehicle parts cost out of control you cant really afford to guess anymore. This helped diagnose noise on car correctly first time using it which saved time and money. Highly recommend. Only complaint is it came without any instructions whatsoever and package looked opened / returned. ... show more

  • What a difference
Style: Stethoscope Kit
I learned to use a long screwdriver against my skull bone in auto mechanics class in high school. Works fine. I was not prepared for how well a real stethoscope would work. This is a whole different level. I also found the air compressor system leak in my shop. Impressive.
