I’m a fan of Nathan James furniture. I have a couple of their pieces and they are well-made and trendy. So my four star review has nothing to do with craftsmanship, but rather the representation of it. I didn’t even take this chair out of the box. As soon as I opened the flap I was disappointed. The color is nothing like what is pictured online. I get colors can be off. But this is full on brown, not the lighter shade of brown/gray that is pictured. And in case an NJ employee is reading this, the components were not bagged. They were loose so washers and screws were spilling out of the box when I opened it. ... show more

I absolutely love these counter stools! The design is modern yet cozy and fits perfectly with my kitchen island. We like the look but these chairs are not safe. We bought 3 and on 2 of the chairs, the screws were falling out after assembling and put to use (2 days of very light use), the cross braces between legs never felt secure and the fabric across the back are loose and therefore ineffective causing you to lean back too far and still have no support. I felt like I was gonna fall over if I tried to lean back far enough to feel the support. In addition, one of the stools had defective fabric on the seat with an unusual pattern, looked thin/missing section of texture on the upholstery and gave a very mottled appearance. We tried to be OK with the defective fabric because we liked the stools but after just 2 days, we realized safety was an issue that we didn't want to compromise. They also dropped in price by almost $30/each right after we bought them. We wish we could have kept these but unfortunately the inconvenience of disassembling and repacking them to return is worth getting our money back. Amazon offered a small credit if we kept them but they aren't worth keeping. We were very dissapointed in the return process and that Amazon wasn't willing to help provide shipping boxes or something to make the return process easier since they are selling something that aren't safe. ... show more

I loved these counter stools when I saw them online. Perfect color with such a versatile design. I ordered two. The parts arrived packed EXTREMELY well, quite impressive. Instructions were straight forward and well written. As we began assembling we realized there were several issues. First, despite the great packaging the legs had defects and with chipped/dinges. The biggest problem was the inability to screw the provided screws Into the pre-drilled holes in Part D(leg). When we opened the second box, same issue with Part D was encountered. I ordered a third one and low and behold the same problem. I called the manufacturer, Nathan James (as was suggested in the instructions) after realizing the issue with the first stool but they made it an “act of congress” and they said it would be 7-10 business days after they receive copies of my receipt and pictures for me to receive replacement parts. I was not willing to wait that long and then only to run the risk of the same issue. As a prime customer, it was much easier to just return the stools. Disappointing, as I really did like the pictures of the stools on line. The seat cushion was nice as was the fabric. ... show more
