I purchased these 2 chairs in Cherry wood color in 2020 but needed Espresso, for the price I didn't want to return them so my mom suggested I spray paint them. PERFECT!!!! I bought the wrong color spray paint 1st but eventually I got the correct color. I already had a counter height pub style table that was Espresso and these chairs worked perfectly. I weigh over 300lbs. and these chairs hold my weight with no problem. I didn't purchase them new I purchased them used all the assembly was included the only thing the original packaging was opened and torn but the box was taped up to hold all the pieces. The only downside to these chairs I can't sit in them long because of my weight but I'm sure if I purchase additional cushions it won't be a problem. They are still sturdy I only had to tighten them up once after I put them together 3 years ago. The original price was over $130 each I bought them for less then $40 each. Good purchase!!! The assembly was a bit confusing but my husband was in my way. I just needed him to tighten them he's not good at putting things together. I would recommend purchasing for the lower cost if you can find them and if they don't have your color spray paint works perfect! ... show more

It's pretty rare that cheap unassembled furniture exceeds expectation, but this is one of those times. We bought two of these and both arrived with the boxes a little banged up but the chairs inside were so well packaged nothing was damaged. The wood is solid and and has a luxurious look to it. Assembly was easy, just a few minutes, and the resulting stool looks and feels great. Would definitely buy again. They look great at the kitchen counter bar and are comfortable to sit in. The holes between the back and the tray for the seat didn't quite line up, but once it was done you can't hardly tell it's crooked when you sit on it. Seems pretty sturdy enough. There aren't pre-drilled holes in the seat, so you'll probably want to use a drill rather than a screwdriver to connect that. The Allen wrench it comes with works on everything except the screws for the seat and the foot bars at the bottom. Just something I wish I would've known beforehand so I didn't have to stop and rummage for the tools I needed. There weren't any missing parts. And the sizing was correct. I got these chairs when it was a huge discount, so for me it was totally worth the price. They are beautiful, sturdy. You get exactly what you see in the pictures. It took us around 40-45 minutes to put together each individual chair. Many pieces & details. Some of the boxes came with instructions and others didnt. The perfect amount of screws and equipment came with each chair, that wasnt an issue. They are a bit on the firm side but i dont mind it. It keeps us sitting up straight without being uncomfortable, im sure with time it will soften up ... show more

We bought 3 of these stools and found that they were nice and comfortable. They are sturdy and easy to handle. It took about 45 minutes to put the first one together and about 20 minutes each for the other two. We had family over for the holiday and I was shocked as I saw at least 4 people kick or trip over the stool legs when walking by the table! In our case, the high-top, bar-height table is against a wall on one short side with several feet of clearance around the other three sides, so it’s not a tight space issue. I needed to figure out what was making this happen. I did some measurements, and it turns out that the rear legs stick out 3½” beyond the back of the seat. This might work when used at a bar, but we use them on a high-top table like you see in a restaurant. It’s very odd but, without thinking about it, when you walk past a chair or stool, you must intuitively sense the leg’s location by the top of the stool back and your feet automatically stay clear. Nobody would expect something to be sticking out on the floor. Imagine a piece of 2x4 sticking out 3½” behind your chair legs—you too would be tripping. You just don’t expect anything to be there. So, the problem we had with these stools was the design. I have found other stools that have a typical design and are going to work just fine. Returning these to Amazon is going to be a trick since they are already assembled, and shipping is going to be tricky—but they are no good to me. ... show more

I love these chairs! I recently bought a stand-alone kitchen island, and the benches I already owned were about an inch too short. I wanted something economical but comfortable that my family would use. Since I purchased these two stools, I've seen a HUGE increase in my family sitting and working at my kitchen island. The "cushion" on the seat is not very "cushion-y;" I wouldn't want to sit there for a long time, but for the time it takes to eat your lunch, my family has embraced these stools. I assembled them by myself with only a minimum of help ("hold this here for a minute while I tighten this..." that kind of thing) They look good. No complaints at this time! :D ... show more

    • The chair parts were defective, did not fit together to allowed safe seating when assembled.

The first chair delivered was fine, easily assembled and the leg parts all fit together. The second chair did not. I contacted Amazon, who then spoke to representatives at the warehouse of the manufacturers. I was told to pack up the defective chair, ready for UPS pickup, and I did. The replacement chair was also defective with two rungs of the chair bottom cut at the wrong slant to fit into the previously drilled holes. The Amazon representative then took the part numbers and sent them to the manufacturer so they could send the correctly cut boards. They are still cur wrong and do not fit. I am concerned that the mftr has many of these chairs in distribution that are wrong. A photo of the chairs showing the defect in the one, follows. After several attempts to get a chair with proper legs, I have not had success. I would not recommend that anyone purchase products from this manufacturer, Home Styles. ... show more

These are definitely counter height chairs and would look good at a kitchen counter. I ordered to use in my informal dining room at a 54" square counter height table. I ordered 4 but because of their lower back they looked dwarfed by my table but the dilemma was I liked the chair (solid, well constructed, comfortable, attractive). I decided to order an additional two chairs, leaving 1 at each end of the table and putting two on the sides. This made a huge difference in the look.
