We bought one for our bed and 2 for hers and they have been washed MULTIPLE times with absolutely no sign of losing the waterproof feature. We make sure not to add them to the dryer and just line dry them. The 5 sided feature is incredible. We just bought one of those bed-in-a-box kits from Amazon, and a lot of the reviews recommended a mattress protector. We have two dogs and two cats, all getting up there in years, so unfortunately accidents will happen once or twice a year. We have a portable wet/dry cleaner for such situations, but the new mattress is memory foam, and I wasn't sure if even a wet/dry vac would be able to fully get through 10 inches of memory foam. I was a little worried because some of the reviews mentioned this protector only being waterproof on the top, but the one we received was waterproof on the top and all four sides. It is large and stretchy enough to cover a mattress even taller than the one we got, so if you have a 12 or 14 inch mattress it should likely fit it as well. Another thing to note is that while it does use plastic as a waterproofing layer, it does not crinkle, isn't noisy, and doesn't create the discomfort you may have seen with similar mattress protectors. Honestly we don't even notice it's there, since we have a regular fitted sheet over top of it. Best of all, it is washer safe, so if one of our elderly pets does have an accident, we can toss the sheet and sheet protector in the wash without worry. ... show more

This does prevent water (or urine) from leaking through. this is my second purchase, because the waterproof function will not work forever! After about 150 washes it will become more porous. To extend the life, I wash in cold and air dry. (If you have to machine dry, use lowest heat setting) it fits snugly, is comfortable to sleep on as an actual sheet as there is a brushed polyester feel to the top, and is very quiet! We’ve bought several in different sizes and have had zero issues. We love them. They don’t trap body heat or make that rustling sound when you move around on them. Really works for keeping the mattress protected from moisture. We’ve potty trained 2 kids and it’s a must. They wash easily and are super easy to put back on the bed. We’ve had our king sized one for 3 years now and wash it once a week with no issues. And it still is just as effective as say one. The queen sizes are newest but semi to be still be the same quality still. Sometimes I sweat profusely at night and have had issues with other mattress protectors that claim they are waterproof. I have been using this mattress protector for about two weeks and it does not sleep hot. Last night was my first night when I was sweating with this on the bed. The sweat went completely through the two blankets, flat sheet and fitted sheet I was sleeping on top of on the bed through to the mattress protector.
