In the realm of kitchen scissors, they range from light-duty (perhaps for cutting herbs) to heavy duty (tearing down a turkey carcass). These fall squarely in the middle; medium duty but kitchen scissors you are likely to reach for every day. I have a drawer full of these; mostly I don’t like them and I am looking for the ideal pair. The right pair of scissors will encourage me to throw away all of the inferior scissors. I like these because they are scissors first and foremost. Some of my other pairs have wire strippers, screw drivers, bottle openers, and other “stuff” as collateral duty. They don’t do that well, and this seems to distract the designers from the purpose of kitchen scissors. With these, none of this. Scissors. Now then a criticism; the handles. Most of my other kitchen scissors have plastic-coated handles, and these soften them somewhat for use and comfort for using them. With these; metal and not great for comfort. While they are better scissors, they aren’t as comfortable as some of my other pairs. Comfort matters. I am going to deduct a star here.

One of my favorite ways to prepare whole chicken is to butterfly it, also known as spatchcocking. This allows you to grill (or bake) the bird so that it will evenly cook throughout. One of the steps needed to butterfly the chicken is to remove the neck/backbone, and the best way to do that is with a pair of sharp kitchen shears, saving your regular scissors for more mundane tasks like cutting open boxes. This pair of scissors, or maybe I should say, this pair of pair of scissors, because you actually get two separate kitchen shears, is really a great deal for a quality product. They have a nice heft to them and are all metal, including the handles. They are also super sharp, they easily cut through thick plastic that some sausages were sold in, and they made short work of a chicken backbone, easily slicing through the skin and chicken meat. So if you're looking for some quality kitchen shears, these should work just fine. Interesting aside, the print on the outside of the box is written in Japanese, even though they are made in China, so I'm assuming they were originally intended for the Japanese market. Why that matters is that Japanese tend to be very demanding in terms of quality, and these scissors would likely sell well in Japan. Since I don't read Japanese, passing the text through an online translator I get some interesting statements: "copper bolt", "zinc alloy handle", "anti-corrosion, anti-oxidation", "scissors are sharp", "drying (sic) after use". I try to dry these immediately after cleaning so I can't attest to how rust resistant they might be.

I'm not one to spend a lot on scissors. Thanks to Amazon Vine (gratitude to the manufacturer and Amazon!), I thought to give these a try, and I'm glad I did. These are similar to scissors that my parents had, but their pair was never as good as this. These are SHARP! I first tested a pair on a thick plastic envelope, which got chopped with ease. What's amazing about how sharp these are is how if I started cutting into the plastic envelope, I could just push straight through to cut, without needing scissor action. These scissors did the same with an index card, which I've never seen before. I've always been the kind to get scissors from a dollar store, or 97 cents at brick-and-mortar "Mart" stores, and those never last too long, but they're good enough at my house. A friend once gave me a very nice pair of kitchen shears, but those I'm afraid to use lest I lose them. And the color scheme is really pretty, too. On a comical note, at first when I opened one of these, I thought it was stuck. It was because there's a small piece of plastic to protect the tip, even though these already come in a cardboard box. That is a very, very nice touch. So these aren't cheap scissors, but they are QUALITY scissors worth spending a little more money on, and there's a coupon right now to make these a great value. A two-pack is well worth the full price.

These Kitchen Shears are a great all-purpose tool for the kitchen! Here's what I love about them: Heavy Duty Design: They tackle a variety of tasks with ease, from cutting through tough meat and poultry to chopping vegetables and herbs. No need to reach for multiple knives or tools. Sharp and Stay Sharp: The stainless steel blades are sharp and feel like they'll hold an edge for a long time. Seems Durable: These shears feel well-made and sturdy - like they can handle kitchen use for a long time. Two Pairs are Handy: Having two pairs is convenient, especially when separating raw and cooked foods. Overall, these are great kitchen shears. The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the handles are a little on the large size for me. If you have larger hands, this wouldn't be an issue, but for people with smaller hands, they might feel slightly bulky. Even with the handle size, I would recommend these shears. They're versatile, well-made, and make a lot of kitchen tasks easier.
