Color: Chocolate Cherry Full disclosure, I used to color my hair blue black. From like I was a teenager to up to 3 years ago (Feb 2021 was the last time I permanently colored my hair black). I have medium brown hair and some white hairs, specially at the front of my face. I have used overtone in black to help minimize the drastic change between my virgin hair and my colored hair. I loved it. It is very nourishing. I wanted to dye my hair without the chemicals (permanent dye had really damaged my hair). Give it a little change. I have lot of hair and it is very long; I knew I would need a whole bottle of what ever I chose. I found this, which is cheaper than the most popular. As you can see it came beautiful. I really, really love the resulting color. I was aiming for something like this. It even colored my white hairs. They look freakishly pink lol Definetly use gloves! I used them when applying the dye, but when I got in the shower to rinse I opted out of them. As you can see it really stained my nails. It also stained my shower. However a bit of clorox cleaning spray took care of the problem. The reason why it is 4 out of 5 stars. I did not feel like it condition my hair at all. In fact it felt dry, as if I had used permanent hair color. I used shampoo and conditioner, and at the end I opted on using a conditioning mask too. Now that my hair is no longer wet it feels a bit dry and and I don't think is as shiny as it was. The instructions said that you can keep it in the hair for up to 2 hours. I kept it for about 1.5. Maybe leave it for less? Not sure if I will purchase again, the whole reason why I chose not to use permanent hair dye was because I didn't want my hair to dry out. It did. ... show more

Ok, here’s the thing and I already knew this, but it seems like others do not. You have to have your hair lightened to a platinum blonde in order to get the full effects of the colors or it simply won’t work on your hair as you likely intended. That is not the fault of the product. Now that my roots are growing out, the color looks very different then from when I first used Genie. I used Genie for my roots in the Lavender for my length. I also have extensions and used the lavender for the length and Genie on the first 1.5 inches that would be near the roots without any issues, but again, I purchased platinum blonde extensions. I don’t even have to continue to put the color on my extensions. The color stays that well. I intended to keep my extensions until they need to be replaced so this also isn’t an issue for me. I figured there would be issues with trying to pull the color back out of those if I tried. The scent is fairly light and not a bad smell. I also found that the two containers will do my whole head and the length of my extensions is 22 inches. ... show more

I love red/burgundy hair but I had too many salon trip that left me with a great color that only lasted a week. I was paying $300 only to end up as a brunette in 2 washes. I tried unicorn hair after a little research for a fraction of the price…I am loving the results. A few tips: 1. The color is intense and stains…everything. So don’t wear anything you don’t want to risk losing. Avoid contact with furniture and surfaces. And make sure you rise your sink/tub well after rising out your product the first few time. 2. You will lose a ton of dye each wash. The longer you can go between washes, the longer you color lasts. I can go 2-3 days giving me about 2 months of color. 3. Vaseline on your hairline, ears, and neck will save your skin from the dye. I coat it heavily! Wipe it off once you have applied all the color. 4. You don’t need to cover with a plastic bag but I highly recommend you do just to keep the dye for accidentally getting everywhere. I added my fade pics. The color it fades too isn’t terrible either. I LOVE this shade. Very true to the shade on the bottle. It's very very cute. I left it to sit for 3 hours before rinsing and this usually buys me a couple washes before my semi permanents start to fade, but unfortunately this color faded a ton with only one wash. It faded almost like pastels fade. I was surprised by this since it was listed as full coverage and not a tint. Kind of a bummer because I love the shade, but can't practically keep it this color. I have chest length hair and usually need a ton of dye to saturate, but 1.5 bottles was more than enough for me. Overall, love the shade so much, but on my hair it faded very quickly. ... show more

We tried this color on my daughter's ash blond hair and it was easy to apply, easy to rinse off, and we had a lot leftover since we only did about 6 inches of her hair, just on the ends. I'd say the jar would color her hair 3 times, total. HOWEVER, we were really sad that while the color went on a bright turquoise blue, it darkened immediately when it hit the air and after we rinsed it, she was left with teal rather than blue. The next morning it was a dark green and stayed that way until it eventually faded after about 6 weeks. She made the best of it but was really disappointed. ... show more

Color: Chocolate Cherry (Burgundy Red)
This product worked well on my dark brown hair. Smelled great and left my hair a shiny, raspberry-brown color. But please do protect anything you DON’T want dyed. This stuff has some serious penetrating power. I used a glove, but still got hot pink dye on my hand, shoulders, ears and neck (not to mention the bathroom sink - whoops!). Definitely do not recommend wearing a tank top while dying, unless you prefer colorful shoulders. I left the dye in for about an hour and 15 minutes. ... show more

This hair stain has a rich vibrant color. Make sure you get your hair down to platinum for best results. I did this for my daughter and the first application came out teal more than royal blue. She has dark brown hair naturally so we had to lighten her bangs and peakaboo highlights, but it still wasn't enough. After making her wait a month, we lightened those areas again, added a toner and then reapplied the stain and let it set for an hour with a shower cap on. She loves it!
