Top Amazon Reviews

  • Outstanding Play Set!
Color: Primary
You can read all the reviews and nearly all of them are gushing about this play set. I now know the reason! The set arrived in a wooden crate wide and long enough for the slide. There were 3 boxes under the slide. The delivery guy was great in getting closest to where it would be put together, but make sure you are prepared to help unload - our delivery did not have a lift, so we tipped it on end to get it out of the truck and gently set it on the ground. The pieces were all packed very well with plastic, foam, etc. Before my help arrived, I laid all the pieces out near the site it would be put together (I placed it on grass...might do rubber mulch later, but wanted to see placement before ripping up my yard). The hardware comes in 3 packs (cardboard backing with plastic to show what the pieces are). The labeling is pretty good - it tells you at the top if it's for the Frame Assembly, the Monkey Bar Assembly, etc. You will be able to figure out which piece is which, but it's interesting in the instructions that they will call a bolt a 3 letter code to put in the drawing, but on the packaging, those codes are not used. I'm not sure why this is, considering they give you exactly the right hardware for each section (even when many of the bolts and nuts are used elsewhere). My help and I were not rushing anything. Once we got our wits about what the pieces and hardware were, it became very easy. So, I would recommend taking your time and don't tighten any of the bolts/nuts until the section is together. We were finished in less than 2 and 1/2 hours. I am usually quick to pick up the power tools and just go carefully, however, I only used a drill one time to bore the holes in the slide (they were there, but the plastic wasn't open to pass the bolt through). I also used a socket wrench for the several acorn nuts. Otherwise, I used the tools contained in the packaging. The instructions were well-done and easy enough to follow. We never assembled anything incorrectly and had to redo something (which isn't typical in my assembly experiences). The only thing we ever had to do again was loosen a couple bolts so other bolts could be fit into their places and after that occurred, we kept all bolts loose and returned to tighten when the section was complete. The hardware is excellent and even the allen wrenches were quality. Since most of the construction involves the bolts with a threaded nut, I thought I'd share our technique that helped us. The bolt and nut look identical once they are joined together from the outside (which makes the set safe from anything sticking out). The nut is about an inch long and the bolt goes through the large pipes to "blindly" be screwed together. In placing them near the ends, look into the pipe from the opening to line up the bolt and nut. In other places, I found it to be helpful to place the bolt in all the way straight, peek into the hole to see the point, then place the nut inside. You won't be able to screw these together by hand too far because of the locking compound. (A few earlier reviews commented on too much compound or broken bolts...this was not the case. I believe Lifetime must follow their reviews or suggestions on this as well as handrails by the slide). I tightened these bolts with the wrenches only to the point they were touching the metal pipe. Then, I placed the others. After that section of the set was together, I went back and tightened them completely. There were only minor issues in putting the set together: The labeling of hardware in the diagram is not the same on the packaging, some "blind" spots putting the bolts/nuts together were challenging when the end caps were included, and the holes in the slide needed bored. Now, the fun begins! My girls who are 5 and 6 love the different areas of the set. My 6 year old is able to handle monkey bars, but the height still concerns me. My 5 year old needs my help right now to do the monkey bars because the drop would be too great for her. I am pleased that they will grow into this (rather than grow out of it) in the coming years. Everything is top-notch engineering, construction, aesthetics, and physical fun! We had plenty of kids playing on it last night (including a 14 year old) and the set didn't move from place. Overall, the question "Would you buy this again," can be answered this way: "I won't have to!" The set is built for years of fun...a Lifetime! Would I recommend it to friends, absolutely! ... show more

  • Great playground set
Color: Earthtone
I like everything about this set . First I want to thank the company. I had a pricing issue which Amazon did not resolve but referred me to contact the seller. They were understanding and quick to resolve the problem and I would buy from them again. This is well made in my opinion. It was easy to assemble. My daughter and I did it in a few hours without any problems. I like the flat seat so adults can swing, unlike molded seat that do not fit our hips. I like the coated chain on the swings that feels good in your hands. The poles are large. The packaging and instructions are clear. It came with two anchoring cables which I found to be different but effective. My yard is not level and I will contact the sell to purchase two just for safety on uneven ground. As you can see the anchoring system is close to the legs and out of the way when doing lawn trimming. The caps for the legs are large and will allow the set to settle into the ground over time. The slide is awesome. It is heavy duty and it feels very safe and comfortable when used by adults. The fireman's pole has a rod which is part of the equipment when installed in the ground keeps it sturdy. My first pick was a playground set with a house or canopy but thinking about the insects and animals that might live in the corners in off season, I opted for this instead. This is the better choice of the two, no hidden corners and easy to spray or wipe down. I did move the rings from the side and put them in the middle to offset the balance. For me and my great-grands this was worth my money and I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Worth the price
Color: Earthtone
I researched play sets for six months before making this purchase. I started out looking at the large wooden ones, but they all seemed very time consuming to assemble with mixed reviews on upkeep and durability. I came across this set and began reading the reviews as well as the reviews for other Lifetime sets. I was impressed by the consistent praise for workmanship, assembly and enjoyment by the kiddos. We finally decided to take the plunge and make our purchase and it was money well spent! Delivery and Assembly: As others have stated...this is a very heavy shipment and you have to (or at least I did) make a delivery appointment when you place your order. The gentleman who delivered ours arrived within the delivery window I had selected and placed the boxes and slide (he had broken down the crate for easier delivery) in the garage for me. It took my husband and father about 4-5 hours to put it together. My husband is a direction follower so he did not rush to hurry things along. They were both very pleased with the quality, directions and labeling of parts and no parts were missing. We did not have a serious issue with the quality of bolts as a few others did. My husband told me to mention to be sure to put the set on as level ground as possible and to beware when using the Allen wrench to not over tighten the bolts as they could easily get stripped. And he said there are some times you have to move/jiggle the pieces to get things to go into place. Use: One of the main selling points was other's comments about this being a set their kids could grow into, not out of. We have a seven and four year-old and they will enjoy this for years to come. Really like that my older nieces and nephews can be on it and I don't have to worry about stability. And the kids like that there are different things to do without being on top of one another. We took the recommendation of another reviewer and placed our inflatable pool under the slide for some real summer fun :) But I will say, this is a fast slide even when dry, and my usually adventurous four year-old is holding off for now. The set does get hot during the day (we live in Central FL) but thankfully parts of it are in the shade. Also, we planned all along not to hang the middle swing and this has been a good decision as they are quite close if all three are assembled. One last comment--when my husband saw the boxes he feared the neighbors were going to hate us for having a monstrosity of a playground in the backyard ;) but I assured him it would look great (we ordered the earthtone set). Once it was up he was very happy with the appearance. We love this set and the kids do, too! ... show more
