🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The KidKraft Appleton Swing Set receives mostly positive feedback for its great value and quality at an affordable price. However, assembly is noted to be challenging and time-intensive, often requiring multiple people and several hours to complete. The overall sturdiness and appeal to children make it a worthy purchase for families. Some reviewers noted issues with pre-drilled holes not aligning and wood splitting during assembly, but these were not deemed deal-breakers.

  • Pretty awesome for the kids, fun puzzle for the parents.

Was looking for a playset for my 3 year old and 16 month old. Bluf: Excellent value, good materials, good directions. Value: I think it would be hard to just purchase the raw materials for less than this set costs. They use wood from the cedar family and the hardware is a significant amount of nuts and bolts. Definitely gave a durable vibe. Directions: everything was stamped and all the hardware was separated in individual labeled bags. I inventoried everything and nothing was missing only one piece of wood was damaged and it was superficial. I would be willing to guess there is close to a thousand pieces between wood and hardware. All the wood is precut and drilled and with the exception of a few pilot holes you need a square drive(provided) , 7/16, 1/2 socket, hammer, and square. An impact driver is also a must. Reality check: This assembly is a lot of work, the directions are well done and easy to follow. However this easily took 6 hours to assemble and if this type of thing is not something you enjoy doing and/or have some experience with this could prove to be a bad experience. This is definitely not a pull out and play right away set. Overall five stars, I think it came out great, the kids love it, and it was about a third of the price of most of the other sets(paid in sweat equity). I will say I did have a good time putting it together, I read the other reviews so expecting 6-8 hours of adult puzzling, I was not disappointed. I did include a picture, my backyard is definitely not level, but honestly a little bit of shifting and it worked out great ... show more

  • Great quality for the price. Would buy again.

Great play set for a 4 year old and 2 year old. I love that it isn’t super high off the ground, higher sets make me nervous for falls. Everything feels sturdy and looks nice, especially for the price. Putting it together took about 5 1/2 hours. There are a lot of little parts but the directions are very clear. My kids love it. (The pink swing did not come with it, I already had it and attached it.) I am very pleased with it. ... show more

  • A very honest review

If you have trouble with ikea furniture you will not be able to put this together yourself. I did this myself and it took about 8 hours. I used about 1000 dollars worth of tools to make this easier. If all you have is hand tools it will just take longer, a lot longer. Make sure you have saw horses. Make sure you are on level ground like concrete. It assembles in 2 sections the swing and the fort. I was able to build it on my concrete patio and then move it all myself. USE A SQUARE. If you don't it will come out looking like junk. Read the directions. The way they show things can be hard to see some times, and there are things that get partially attached and secured later. The directions tell you everything. When they say be gentle on the wood they mean it. It is a very soft wood that splits easy. The wood is stained so thats nice. If you have hard soil, when you get the staking part you will probably want to use a metal rod to make a pre hole for the stake, otherwise you will split the stake. The assembly will take TIME. The warranty they have is really nice. This is a nice first fort and swing. It feels sturdy enough for small children. No way an adult should ever climb on this. The swings seem fine for an adult so you can swing with your kid, though you are not going to be going high. My 4 year old loves it! ... show more

I don’t usually write reviews, even though I rely on them when shopping, but I had to share how great this playset is. It’s absolutely worth the price and very well designed. Everything arrived included except for one missing bolt, and I had to redrill two holes, but other than that it was perfect. I will say this is definitely an all-day project for one person. I’m 60 years old and was still able to put it together myself, so it can definitely be done. Most importantly, my 14 month grandchild absolutely loves it, which made it completely worth it. Highly recommended! ... show more

Install is not difficult, just follow the directions and you will get it done. If you do not like putting things together this may not be the project for you. Several different, screws, bolts washers etc. Tools I used for this were drill, hammer, socket. This come with a drill bit for the aquarium head screws and another to drill holes. Take inventory and go from there. Installed alone in around 4-5 hours. Quality and price point make this a good deal. Pink swing was an add on by US, it does come with two normal swings. ... show more

  • Not Bad, Not Great

I bought this swing set on sale for $300 and honestly it was worth the price but just barely. The wood is very cheap but all in pretty good condition other than some warping on a few pieces. I learned quickly that you don’t tighten the screws until they are tight but just before the washers start digging into the soft wood. Assembly took a long time but the instructions were actually pretty good. I did run into a number of problems where the pre-drilled holes just didn’t line up right. I double checked the instructions and I was definitely doing it the right way. The swing set ended up being pretty crooked even though 90% of it was pre-drilled holes. I ended up drilling my own holes and shifting some of the boards to get it more level. The swing set itself is not very sturdy but they do provide wood stakes to help keep it steady. Make sure you have an area of flat ground otherwise it’s a lot more wobbly. All in all the set looks nice and works but I don’t think I’d let anyone over 8 years old play on it. I sat on a swing and it felt sturdy enough but I didn’t dare actually swing. ... show more

This quality for the price. Easy to set up. I was able to do this myself in four hours. Perfect for a small backyard. My three year-old daughter loves it. As long as it is on level ground, it is very sturdy. There are plenty of extra parts.
