  • Great Quality - Detailed Review
We shopped around quite a lot for a play set that gave us the best bang for our buck. This one took the cake pretty easily when we found it. We really enjoyed the esthetic and range of activities it provides. Build time: They are NOT exaggerating the building time on this set! My wife was 34 weeks pregnant when we started this, so she was only able to help on certain things. You can do 90% of this by yourself if you're resourceful, but many steps are either way easier with a quick hand. Overall, we had about 35-40 hours total for unboxing and assembly. We read other reviews and luckily took their advice in organizing ahead of time. We laid all the lumber out in alphanumeric order and then I organized the hardware by type and size. Just this step took us about 2 hours, but easily saved us more than that later. I used a very small box to pick out exactly what I needed for the current step so I wouldn't mess up my organization. This worked great for the first half of the build, but then when I started the 2nd story, climbing up and down became a huge time sink. My biggest regret is I messed with my organization to avoid climbing, and it ended up being a pain. The app was very helpful for a few confusing steps, but not necessary for most of them since the paper was pretty easy to follow. LESSON LEARNED: Get a few small containers that are easy to move and keep everything in them organized. I promise it will save you time and heartache. Also, having 1 person on the ground to get the parts for the next step helps keep you efficient - especially on the 2nd story part. Materials: Overall I was pretty happy with the quality of the materials. As an engineer and carpenter by trade, I was surprised at how accurate the hole locations etc were. Only place I had an issue was putting the swing bracket on the main unit, but I just wallowed out 1 of the holes in the direction I needed slightly. The wood is cedar so it does not require treating. It is naturally rot resistant- that's why it's so expensive! It's also lightweight so easy to adjust the assembly as you go even with a huge amount built. Wood was smooth and neither of us ever got a splinter. We really enjoyed the beautiful grain patterns in the lighter colors. Hardware was super overkill for the use - but that's not a bad thing. I'd rather it be oversized than under. Had to be careful to not over-drive the lag screws. Sometimes they wanted to strip the wood because it's so low density, but pretty easy to get a feel for that as you go. We did not have any missing pieces! In fact I have a box of extra since they give 2 extra of nearly everything just in case there's a problem. Fun: My 5 year old daughter was hyperventilating with excitement when this thing was ready. She was so excited to play on it! After several days she still is on it constantly - instead of getting into trouble elsewhere lol. Pros: Beautiful, safe, kid loves it, great instructions, quality materials, not too difficult to assemble. Cons: LOUD! Probably the wood settling in it's location, but this thing creaks like crazy when walked on or when swinging to a certain height. I expect this will get better over time - especially when the humidity drops and the wood contracts. Curly slide was a b%&#$ to put together. Too many things to hold and force into place. Maintenance will be needed to keep it nice. This is true of any wood set, but being cedar, it should last a very long time with proper care, and any damaged pieces can be replaced if you're handy. Overall, a great buy for the money, and like another reviewer said, your partner and kids will love you all the more for the hard work you put into this. Definitely a worthy investment in many ways. Stop looking and just buy this one. ... show more

  • So m8ch fun, even my adult children want to use it.
My 2 year old grandson LOVES his "house". He can easily use both slides, the ladder to climb up, and the swings. He needs a bit of help to do the rock wall (for a while) and doesn't go p to the crow's nest without help, but soon he will be all over this play structure. I'm not going to lie, it took a full week to put it together, even the tube slide came in pieces. But everything was clearly labeled and and pre drilled. There are just hundreds of pieces! My son basically built the entire thing (with a little help in just a few spots to lift things in place) over the span of a weekend and nights after work. We plan to seal the wood so it will last a long time. It is structurally sound, my son sat on the net swing and he is 250 lbs. It is a quality built set and the wood is sanded smooth and the bolts are recessed where needed. I* am extremely happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Some assembly required ;)
My wife shopped around for playscapes for our 5 kids ages 6-11 (6yr old twin boys 8yr old twin girls, 11yr old boy). Received the delivery in 5 large boxes on a Monday and I had it assembled completely by Sunday. I work from home and we are currently slow, so I was able to spend a few hours a day/night putting this together myself. I am very handy, but anyone with decent tools and a little patience can easily put this together. The paper instructions were very useful, and the BILT app with 3D diagrams was a GameChanger for some finicky parts. It appears to be very sturdy and all of the kids are having a blast. I only needed the 2nd adult to help me attach the Swing beam to the fort and the tunnel slide (the biggest pita) to the fort, along with leveling it out. Highly recommend so far. ... show more

  • Don't waste your time or money; you'll go crazy trying to figure it out.
This was a nightmare to setup and whoever cut the pieces and pre-drilled the holes was just lazy. Plus it came with missing parts and none of the wood was treated for outdoor use. 1. The directions are nearly impossible to follow. 2. Received 5 boxes with specific directions thinking all of parts in each box matched the corresponding directions, but all of the parts were randomly in all of the boxes. 3. Some of the pre-drilled holes didn't line up. 4. Some of holes were missing altogether. 5. None of the wood was cut in angles, so I had to cut them myself to make them fit. 6. None of the wood was treated, so I had to buy and apply sealer myself to preserve it. 7. Missing 16 bolts. ... show more

  • Love but won’t last
Update: We have only had this swing set for maybe 3weeks and it’s starting to crack in some places. It will most likely not last for 5+ years that we were hoping. Giving 3 stars now because of the cracks. You notice it in everything. From the corners of outstanding wood pieces being cut so they don’t hurt running kids, to the size of the wood beam for the swing. It appears an intelligent individual planned the building process as well since the distribution and orientation of certain joints and screws are meticulously positioned to ensure the most for weight support. Well worth every penny. Its only downside is how long it takes to build. 50+ hours total. It’s a monster project. ... show more
