I was hesitant about buying this court because of the reviews on the backboard. I didn't want to spend $700+ on a basketball court, but also didn't want to waste $300 on something that would end up being flimsy. As a typical dad, on a typical budget I chanced it with this one and have found it to be perfect for our needs. It's fairly easy to set up, and the quality is perfect for playing backyard basketball at home with my 12 year old son. This isn't the NBA so keep your expectations realistic. Adjusting the height is so smooth and easy. If your looking for a great set-up at a great price, this will suit your needs. The last part requires you to lift the backboard while it's connected to 2 segments of poles. That requires some help, but the rest is just taking your time to do things right.

I was really nervous to start putting this thing together after reading all the reviews, but honestly this was not difficult at all to construct. First, use the Bilt app they recommend in the manual. The app shows 3D renderings of every step. You can look at it on the app from different angles, zoom in/out etc. It is time-consuming to build -- I think it took me roughly three hours to put it together -- but it is not hard at all. All the nuts and bolts and screws are in little baggies and the instructions tell you which bag of hardware to grav for the next several steps. No, the hardware itself isn't labeled but with the way the app works I never had any issues knowing which hardware to work with for each step. To be clear, I'm not handy at all. Once constructed, this is a very high quality product. We love the plexiglass backboard and the mechanism to raise and lower the height of the hoop is so easy my 8-year old can do it with one hand. Overall great product that I expect will last decades.

The system arrived promptly in perfect condition. After laying out the parts, I discovered 2 wrong bolts & nuts. This was easily remedied by calling Lifetime & within 4 days I had the correct parts. Caution- 2 of the nuts (3/8") are listed as 2 needed. However, about 8 steps into assembly, you realize that 2 are called for on one page & 2 are called for on a subsequent page. We made a fast Home Depot run and 32 cents later (plus MUCH more expensive gas) and we were back on the job. I highly recommend laying out the parts in order of the instruction pages (NOT how I did it) as you'll find a couple of parts that you DON'T need at all on the parts list (believe me I checked and re-checked). Apparently the parts list is old or poorly matched to the current kit. In any case, assembly was a bit frustrating at times. The diagrams aren't nearly as detailed as the parts page (you expect a rim on a nut or a curved end to a pole arm, but it isn't in the diagram- so you doubt the part). That said, the instructions weren't terrible & there were lots of steps (39.5) which helps simplify things slightly. All in all, it took two of us about 5-6 hours total to assemble it (we had 3 pieces that had to be removed and installed the correct way - i.e. aligned holes wrong based on only a partial diagram). I'm not the handiest person, so perhaps that's part of it. The hole and bottom pole installation was easy, but I did end up needing 8 50# bags of concrete for the accurate level of concrete. I used the 10 minute post concrete, this may have contributed... The system itself is great. It looks and feels nice. There's some give on the backboard and rim with shots, but for under $400, I'm very impressed. The height adjustment is VERY easy to operate. The 6 year old can even do so one handed. In summary, plan ahead - 3 days (+) for the concrete to truly cure & at least 1/2 a day for part layout, assembly and installation. Then, enjoy this great system for the money.

I was a bit skeptical buying an in-ground hoop that was so cheap. But the Lifetime brand has a good rep. Setup was easy, instructions are easy to follow. I setup the hoop in about 3.5 hours, including the time to install the base in concrete. 6 bags of quickrete. I set this up solo, which for the most part is no big deal. Just went slow lifting whole thing up. You should probably have one other person for the last step, lifting the whole assembly onto the bottom pole. It is pretty heavy and bulky. Other than that, pretty easy install by myself. The setup feels pretty solid, plays nice. It's not a heavy glass style backboard, obviously, but doesn't rattle or shake much. The rim feels solid as well. The lifting mechanism makes lifting between 7.5 and 10 feet a cinch--one handed. Overall, very happy with this hoop. The quality feels and looks great.

The directions are horrible for this thing. I consider myself to be pretty handy, but I had to undo multiple steps to add parts or change something. Be sure to carefully look at the pictures for parts needed during set up, as the sidebar with parts listed for each step doesn't show everything you need. The hoop itself is awesome and the value is great too. So despite difficult install of about 5 hours total, it deserves 5 stares.

EASY to screw up the assembly if you don't follw the procedures in the correct order. If you're one of those " I don't need no instructions" kind of guy, your'e going to be disappointed with the result. Takes a LOT of concrete to secure the ground models in place AND you SHOULD call your city utility companies before you dig a 24" deep hole.

This is a great basketball hoop!! We researched a lot before making this purchase and I am so extremely thankful we purchased this one! It looks incredible and we absolutely love it. It took a little work putting it together... (three college educated adults about 2 hours ha ha) But it was worth every bit of time and energy we put into it. My daughter absolutely loves it. It is very easy to adjust up and down,.. even my seven year old daughter can do it with ease. It's very easy to lower for her and a second later raise for my husband and myself to play a quick game. If you are considering buying a hoop we highly recommend this one!!!!
