  • Fantastic water filler — poor packaging
Style: Plastic Pitcher 10 cup Color: Aqua
TL/DR: carefully inspect your pitchers upon arrival because a small crack is INCREDIBLY hard to see. Fill the pitcher with warm water and see if it leaks before you prep it for use. The package just arrived. When I went to open it I noticed the seal stickers on the box had been lifted and put back. I thought it was odd, but maybe the warehouse double checked the item prior to shipment, right? Wrong. When I got the pitcher out of the box it looked like there was a hair stuck to the inside. Upon inspection, it is a crack. Not a surface level crack - it goes all the way through the plastic to the inside of the pitcher. I’m now worried about using this item as it seems like it would leak water all over the fridge. Requesting a replacement. As an update: the news one arrived, it also had the seal tape hardly stuck on and again like it may have been open (LifeStraw needs to use better stickers of this is supposed to be tamper evident. There was a rectangle of sticker residue on the pitcher that the other one didn’t have, so now I’m wondering what that sticker said? I am also guessing my first purchase was cracked because someone tried to use alcohol to reduce the residue which resulted in the crack in the first pitcher 🤔 Anyways, I followed the instructions for first time use (washing the pitcher, prepping the filters, and running the first batch). After the initial setup I dumped the first batch and rinsed the filters again just to be safe. I finally ran my first batch of water and it worked flawlessly. I have a known issue with iron bacteria (which isn’t harmful, but still) and the LifeStraw removed it all. The carbon filter is good for up to 64 fills (16 cups in a gallon x 40 gallons / 10 cups per fill) (NICE) and the membrane is good for up to 422 fills (SWEET). Just doing the math, this is less expensive than buying bottled water AND it has the added benefit of less plastic waste. The fact that it helps provide clean water to other areas of the world is an incredible final benefit. I highly recommend this product, but I also recommend thoroughly checking your pitcher because those hairline cracks are really difficult to see. ... show more

  • Pros Outweigh the Cons
Style: Glass Pitcher 7 cup Color: White
Overall, I like my pitcher and would buy it again! I wanted a glass pitcher filter, and this was the only one of a precious few on the market from a reputable company. The design eliminates the problem other filter pitchers have where they become top heavy and spill when trying to pour water before it has all filtered completely to the bottom chamber. The water had a noticeably improved taste over our faucet-attached filter. I like that it claims to filter out microplastics as well as bacteria, which gives me peace of mind since we've had regular boil water notices over the last few years. It is large and didn't fit in my fridge, but I don't mind since it looks so nice on my counter. It can be heavy, but I just lower my cup into the sink and tilt the pitcher over. Removing the filter apparatus for replacement is a little tricky, but you only have to do that twice every 2 months and can leave it alone between filter changes. I'm extra mindful not to bump it since it is a bit pricey and I don't want to shatter it, but the glass does seem relatively sturdy. It does take a long time to fill the pitcher completely to the top, but we don't keep it that full on a daily basis and it has served our family of 3 just fine. I hope I don't have trouble finding filters when I need to buy more. ... show more

  • Takes Forever to Fill
Style: Glass Pitcher 7 cup Color: White
Have had the pitcher for a few days now, and have filled it x 4. It takes a very long time to fill, and one must monitor as the filter tank is small, and must be filled several times before enough water comes thru to fill pitcher to 3/4 full. The water tastes great, and I think my house pets drink more than before, which is good. However if I was a busy Mom with a full schedule this might require more time than it is worth when there are other water filtering systems available that fill much more quickly and are less expensive to use. I am retired and trying to cut back on plastic, so it works ok for me. ... show more

  • Excellent pitcher filter
Style: Plastic Pitcher 10 cup Color: Aqua
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this filter. My drinking water comes from either rain catchment or an artesian well, so it requires filtration before drinking. This filters out everything I'm concerned about, and leaves me with delicious tasting water. The filters are easy to replace and are reasonably priced. I'm happy with the speed of filtration. My only complaints are that the handle is poorly designed and can be a little painful on the hand when the pitcher is more than half full, and I'd love to see a re-design on the little flap on the top where you fill it, so it stays open while you fill the pitcher, and you don't have to hold it open with one finger. Otherwise, I'm very, very happy with this pitcher. ... show more

  • Great water with some quirks
Style: Dispenser 18 cup Color: Transparent
I’ve had a few Lifestraw products over the years and I’ll always vouch for their water quality — super clean and fresh tasting. This pitcher is no different. I’m super happy with how my water tastes and I’m confident in its quality. It takes a bit of time before water is being filtered at full speed, so keep that in mind before you think something’s wrong. There are two little quirks that I don’t necessarily like: The first is the spout. The push to release method is finicky and you have to place your thumb carefully for full release. The second is the handles. What I first thought was a convenient feature often ends up a mess. While placing the pitcher in my smaller refrigerator, the water tends to splash out of handle area. I now have to fill up less than the max line, which is fine, but inconvenient. All things considered, I’m happy with the pitcher, but with some improvements, I think it’d be perfect. ... show more

  • Satisfied so far
Style: Glass Pitcher 7 cup Color: White
I'm satisfied with this pitcher/filter so far. My only issue is that for a taller glass (i.e. heavier) pitcher like this, it would be better to have the handle closer to the center of gravity. For a small person, it's sometimes a bit difficult to pour with one hand when the pitcher is completely full. ... show more
