A recent storm knocked out our electric power for an extended time. We have supplemental heat sources, so we stayed warm and we have a gas stove, so we could cook food. What we didn't have enough of was emergency lighting. We purchased these LED lanterns to use during our NEXT power failure. The design of these lanterns is simple but elegant. The case slides up to reveal the LEDs and to turn them on. Slide the case back down and the lights turn off. There is never any question if the on/off switch is on or off. The three AA batteries are contained in the base, which makes the lantern quite stable. We purchased the bright yellow lanterns so even if they are stored in the back of the closet they are easy to locate. We chose non-rechargeable lanterns on purpose. Chances are if it's been several years since you used your rechargeable lantern, the batteries will be dead. If your power is out, you will have no way to recharge them. With these lanterns, if the batteries are dead, you just put in new batteries. ... show more

This a wonderful lantern. It’s compact ,it’s bright, and the handle makes it easy to carry. . I love the way it opens and closes, easy for storage. I used it during our power outages here in California and is a definite must have item for the home. My son uses it for camping. Great product.

These lights are very bright, just as bright as our lanterns that use a 6 volt battery, except they cost less, the batteries cost less and being LED, the batteries will last longer. We are having trouble getting the battery chamber lid off and back on, one of them. Still don't know why, but eventually I am able to do it. They seem sturdy and will work well. ... show more
