  • Great Blu-Ray player for it's price
Ok first let me say I really like this a lot. I read a lot of reviews on this before deciding to give it a try. I have had it for over a month now and haven't had any of the problems with it that others have claimed to have. Loading times: I haven't rested DVD loading times but I have blu-ray disc. The longest it has taken me to load a disc has been 15 second at the most. these were disc I had rented from my local library. They loaded with no problem at all. Video Quality: It is what you would expect for a blu-ray player. The picture on it is great. Ease of use and menu options: I would say for the most part it is easy to use. It does take a few minutes to learn what everything does but that is to be expected. It was easy to set up. It was easy to update. Wifi connection is running great. For picture quality there is quite a few options. There are some preset color options and you can also customize it to your needs as well. Though if you have your tv set up correctly you likely won't need to mess with any of these. But it is nice to have them anyways. For example sometimes it takes the combined use of one of the presets and the right picture settings on your tv to get the best quality out of any 480p movie/tv show you may be watching. For a lot of things it brings the quality up to as close to HD as you can get with those. Hooking an external hard drive and navigating through it is pretty easy. As are the menus to get to the services like youtube and netflix. Youtube actually seems to play really good on it and pandora plays with little problems. Format compatibility: So far it this blu-ray player has played most of what I have thrown out it. Though some AVIs and DIVX formats it has issues reading. Some AVIs it plays fine so I imagine it has to do with the encoding and DIVX is so outdated it is no shock it wasn't built to read it. It isn't hard to reconvert files you have stored anyways. Just a bit time consuming. Overall I am very pleased with this though. Sound Quality: Ok I don't have a surround sound so it is hard to give the most accurate report on this. But to me the sound seems to carry over fine and sounds good on my tv. I have a 32 inch vizio though which has decent enough sound for me anyways. Remote Control: Batteries were included with mine and it seems to work great. I even have limited control of my tv with it which is a plus. The remote is a bit small and took a little getting used to. But other then that it is pretty good. Overall I would say this is a great Blu-ray player for it's price. You won't find another one this good for that price with all the options that come with it. Usually either they are crap or they lack wifi capability and other things. If your looking for a bunch of fancy bells and whistles like you see on the bigger modules then be prepared to pay out a lot for them. But if you don't need all that stuff and just want a good blu-ray player with built in wifi capability then this is the one you should get. Just be careful not to buy one that has been refurbished. You never know what will go wrong with those since they are just used players that have been rebuilt. Brand new factory sealed though and you should be good to go with this. If for some reason you have a problem with your player I would blame either the seller or perhaps the company that shipped it. Regardless you should contact the seller about it. Lucky for me my seller made sure mine was well packaged. They even put the actual box inside another box with small things of Styrofoam around it. In case your wondering which sell this was it was Paul's TV. Anyways I hope this review has helped you to make your decision. Just remember that you will need to buy your HDMI cable separately. But hey that isn't a lot anyways if you order off amazon. ... show more

  • Christmas Gift
I bought two of these on Cyber Monday as Christmas gifts (one to myself and one to my grandparents). We just set them up today, and they both run smooth, were easy to install, and are functional - quietly so. I have an LG TV, and I like the brand LG so I wanted to stick with it and I am glad I did, because these are great. I will update this if I have any other comments, but so far every feature works on BOTH bd players. I will stay loyal to LG for some time it seems. Also, some quick updates after having this running for the whole day: ********* People have been saying that this does not resume playback, as in, it doesn't start back up from where it was stopped. I noticed this happened when I turned off the player from the pause state, because stop obviously stops the disc and I didn't want to leave it running when I left the house. However, another movie I had decided to just eject from the pause state, and after watching a few other discs, the ejected disc that was in a pause state started back up from that spot when I put the disc back in. I don't know if every disc will do this, but so far it's resumed playback this way. The other thing is, if you are a quiet person and have a quiet room or bedroom, you may notice some sounds from the player. Just a faint high-pitch hum during playback or pause, and you can pretty much always clearly hear the laser moving when you skip, pause, etc. Nothing too dramatic, but enough to drive you nuts once you focus in on it. Just a minor flaw, but this is still the best device for the money. ... show more

  • Good little unit overall
I have had this for about 11months now. Good little unit overall. Easy to use menu. Clear picture. And affordable. But the remote buttons are to close and not arranged where I like. There are a couple buttons that are way to close to the navigation and I inadvertently press the wrong button instead. The result is that it takes me completely back out of my on-line video (like netflix viewing) and takes me back completely to the main player menu. then I have to log in and find where my video was and resume where I left off which is a major mood killer. Also. I wish it wouldn't loose my wi-fi internet connection every now and then. I'm using the latest Moto modem. And not necessarily the same time I will also loose my Net-flix account username and password as well. I have to retype my info before I can watch tv again. that's a pain. This issue has happened about two or three time so far. Good thing I'm usually patient and not to upset thinking it might not be the player's fault. But hey this overall is not bad for what I paid for this little guy. ... show more

  • Awesome and easy set up
This blu ray player is great. I bought this one because I could watch Netflix wirelessly via my router in the next room with it. It doesn't need to be wired into the router, in other words. The Netflix was easy to set up if you have a streaming account. There were also quick tabs to get Hulu, Pandora, and others as well. The router is in the next room and has had no problems connecting once everything was set up. Though I don't actually own any blu rays yet, it plays the regular DVDs very well. Its motor is kind of loud, but once it warms up it is very quiet. Decent price as compared to brick and mortar stores. I wanted to buy local, but they were out of stock. Amazon Prime shipped it more quickly than my local store could guarantee. It was shipped securely. Make sure to pick up an HDMI cable because it is not included. Amazon's brand works just fine! ... show more

  • NO Amazon Prime!
I read thru a lot of these reviews, also "answered questions", and some said the BP330 supported Amazon Prime instant video. It does NOT! I just rec'd mine today, 2/17/14, hooked it up, updated, etc, no Prime/Amazon icon. There is a Nero disc wh/puts software on your pc, but mine would not install. Some of the info regarding Nero led me to believe it might capacitate Prime, but will never know. For those who don't know, the ID asked for is the many numbered ID on the back of your modem(mine is Uverse, it is Not the alpha-numeric ID:, it's the other one); put those numbers in from the keyboard window, and carry on. The pc address/identifier loads itself. Once loaded, the player worked fine, w/Netflix, but didn't try anything else (played part of an old DVD). It seems to be a perfectly fine player, but no A-Prime, wh/is the main thing I wanted it for, so I wouldn't have to connect to my pc every time I wanted to stream a movie. The plug-in cord is pretty cheap feeling, thin wire, light plastic adapter, felt like it would break if stepped on. I don't know what kind of wireless speeds are out there, but whatever you need for Roku, I expect you'll need for any wifi player to play well. Just FYI, I've been happy overall w/ LG, but am swapping the B330) for Sony BDP-S5100 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi . It says in the description that Amazon Prime will work (w/subscription of course) when you register the product. ... show more

  • Great value, still works beautifully 3 years later!
Purchased this LG Blu-ray player as a replacement for a DVD player that broke. Three years later it still functions perfectly, has a strong Wi-Fi signal for streaming things like Netflix (which we stream a lot of) and plays DVDs and Blu-Ray discs beautifully. I would say I watch an average of 6-10 Blu-rays/Dvd's per month and it has held up very well. Every few months I run a a cleaning DVD through the player - I'm not actually sure it needs to be cleaned as I never have any issues, probably more of a precautionary measure on my part. I am satisfied with this Blu-Ray player and will definitely purchase another LG model if/when this one bites the dust. Since I'm not a technology buff I'll just say for a normal person without obscene expectations, this is a great little player. Three years so far, still running strong! ... show more

  • LG is a cutting edge comanpany. So why can't it get these things to work right?
After reading several reviews and many of them being mixed as to what one would think of this device. I have fallen into the bad choice. A BRAND NEW device bought and arrived on time. Easy install and after a few tweaks to make everything work I went out and bought my first blu-ray only to have it told it couldn't read it. I had another one and tried that with no luck. In fact I was very upset as the very thing that seems to have plauged ever other buyer of this device happened to me. Those of you who got it to work its a hell of a lot better then what I got. So after I decided to contact LG by phone (bad idea) I was helped by two people until my call was dropped both times with no help from them at all. And looking throug the library of ideas for some way to make this lemon into lemonade I got nothing. So I decided to try and email someone in the hopes of getting a better answer. I put too much trust in people doing the right thing it seems. LG's offical repsonse the first time was to try and do a factory reset. Which was something I had tried several times with no luck. The other seuggestion was to clean the player as the lens may have become dirty. Now before I go too much further into this lets point something out here. This device was brand new and should have been sealed against this sort of thing so you wouldn't need to get a cleaner of anytime until it was neccesary. At this point in my head I sent another email asking the same question. there response was that even brand new it could still get dirt on the lens. Needless to say that was the last straw for me. I contacted the seller and reutrned the item. I wasn't going to go through the headache of someone telling me I had a dirty player when it was brand new. So like many others on this devide its a load of garbage. Do not buy this player and for that matter don't buy this kind of stuff online. I had to put in a request to return the 2 year product plan which you can find a review for on my profile page as well. So please DO NOT buy this player at all. ... show more

  • Amazing Picture with a very Small Footprint
The Blu-Ray player arrived as promised by Amazon. I found the player very easy to connect and setup to our LG HDTV. Pros - WiFi - this was easy to setup and worked right away - Software updates - worked effortlessly from the Setup Menu - Ease of Use - it could not have been easier to connect and setup - Footprint - this is a very small and light device. This makes it very easy for nearly any décor to use this device. We have it in our bedroom Cons - the "input" button just doesn't control my LG TV the way it should. Have to use the TV remote to switch inputs. I would recommend this unit to my friends and family. ... show more
