    • We are happy with this AC
I did a ton of research before purchasing, my biggest concern was if it would fit well into my window, it was not easy to determine this based on the company pictures and manual instructions, so I had to take a chance. But it turned out to fit perfectly. My window is really narrow and that helps it to have a very snug and clean fit. This was not my first choice, I wanted the GE one that goes over your window like a saddle bag, but my wall is too thick, and it would not fit. I only really needed an 8000 btu but, when the 10k btu actually costs $3 less and had faster shipping and better payment options, I had to go for the bigger one and we're very happy we did, because it cools down our bedroom super-fast and keeps it cool overnight and it's mostly on eco mode which is using less power than I expected. Function wise, the filter is easy to clean and swap out, you get a spare filter so you can put in a fresh filter and take the other out and have time to wash and have it drying. It was easy to install, and I can see it will fit well into most double hung windows. It has good features, works with Alexa, and can be controlled via LG ThinQ app. What I don't like: the side panels are not easy to install because the screw holes don't line up well and they are difficult to pull out to the width you need. The cord comes out of the unit on the RH side and it would suit my situation better to be on the LH side, or even better, just have a 9ft cord so you have some flexibility to connecting to power, every window AC only has a 6ft cord and I think this is a stupid limitation. Like every window AC that I looked at the instruction say to install it with at least a few degrees of angel toward the outside so if any water needs to drain it will go outside and not inside. Well guess what? Due to the way these go into your window with the bottom edge rested on the outer plane of the bottom window sill and the top edge holding against the inside of the window sash... THERE'S NO WAY TO CHANGE THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE AC IS INSTALLED...you can't make it tilted in either direction. So why make instructions telling people to make sure the AC tilts toward the outside if there's physically no way to change that angle? ... show more

Best investment ever for the summer. Air conditioner is quiet, effective and although used in a larger open space than the BTU was meant for, it cools and dehumidifies great. Dual inverter technology works great although start up is a bit slow. Also heavy like a Friedrichs due to the dual inverter. Have to see how long this LG will last as I've only had it for a month. Using it every day so we'll see how cost efficient it is at the end of the month. Filter door opens out in front so very easy to take out and wash and love the look of the solid door. It intakes air through the bottom and sides of the door. I don't use the remote or WiFi features so can't comment. It's easy enough to get up and walk over to turn it on and off and adjust fan strength and temperature. ... show more

    • Super Quiet, Super Cool, Super Efficient!
This AC is the equivalent of a hybrid car. You know when you're driving a hybrid car, or if you pull up alongside one at a stop light... you have to ask yourself... is this thing on? This AC is so quiet, I sometimes have to stand in front of it to make sure it's on... it really doesn't make much noise at all. And the sounds it emits are more like soothing white noise. The wifi capability is great. You can use your phone or tablet as an extra remote or turn the AC on or off remotely when you're not even home. And the filter monitoring feature is a real convenient thing... the AC tells you (on the unit as well as a notification through the app) when the filter needs changing. This is the best air conditioner I have ever owned... and it's much more energy efficient and therefore much cheaper to run than most other ACs. I have nothing bad to say about this unit at all. ... show more

I purchased this AC to replace a 15-year-old, smaller Frigidaire unit that still worked great but was getting a little noisy and does not have the ability to be WI fi controlled. The new LG was delivered during a spate of 100-degree days, so I decided to wait for a few cooler days to do the install. I installed it today and it was quite simple. I turned it on, it made some rattling noises, then started displaying an error code, CH67. After some time on the L:G website, I found this means the fan is blocked. I went through the steps with the automated help, and it told me to take off the front cover and see if I could spin the fan by hand. I did, and the fan would spin, but it was clearly hitting obstructions. At this point, the automated help told me I need tech support and passed me on to a human. The human proceeded to lead me through all the previous steps. After doing all of it again, I was told to look inside through the vents and see if any sticks, etc., had fallen into the case. Then I was asked if the case had any signs of physical damage from the install. I checked and damage to the case. I was asked if maybe I had dropped something in the vents during the install. I am pretty sure I was being slowly convinced that I had damaged the unit. I thanked them for their efforts and ended the call. The new LG is sitting on the floor, and the old AC is back in the window. I cannot recommend this air conditioner. ... show more
