Best investment ever for the summer. Air conditioner is quiet, effective and although used in a larger open space than the BTU was meant for, it cools and dehumidifies great. Dual inverter technology works great although start up is a bit slow. Also heavy like a Friedrichs due to the dual inverter. Have to see how long this LG will last as I've only had it for a month. Using it every day so we'll see how cost efficient it is at the end of the month. Filter door opens out in front so very easy to take out and wash and love the look of the solid door. It intakes air through the bottom and sides of the door. I don't use the remote or WiFi features so can't comment. It's easy enough to get up and walk over to turn it on and off and adjust fan strength and temperature. ... show more

    • Super Quiet, Super Cool, Super Efficient!
This AC is the equivalent of a hybrid car. You know when you're driving a hybrid car, or if you pull up alongside one at a stop light... you have to ask yourself... is this thing on? This AC is so quiet, I sometimes have to stand in front of it to make sure it's on... it really doesn't make much noise at all. And the sounds it emits are more like soothing white noise. The wifi capability is great. You can use your phone or tablet as an extra remote or turn the AC on or off remotely when you're not even home. And the filter monitoring feature is a real convenient thing... the AC tells you (on the unit as well as a notification through the app) when the filter needs changing. This is the best air conditioner I have ever owned... and it's much more energy efficient and therefore much cheaper to run than most other ACs. I have nothing bad to say about this unit at all. ... show more

I really like this A/C. Its NOT the quietest. That goes to Midea but it does move air & the rooms get cooled quickly. Now, the issue comes.. When i installed this A/C, it put the bracket (That does not come with it) tilted so that the water could go towards the back. All three of them but one day in the morning, I turned it on for 20 minutes and when I looked at my floor, i see a leak. Water was on the floor! Water came from the front and It was about 5 feet long and 2 feet wide of water. Thankfully i was there to stop it but thats not the point. How about if i wasn't there? I turned the A/C on through the app 40 minutes before i got home? Then what? It would have ruined electronics. furniture etc. As much as I love these A/C's, They will be returned. I cannot risk my belongings like this. ... show more

I did a ton of research before purchasing, my biggest concern was if it would fit well into my window, it was not easy to determine this based on the company pictures and manual instructions, so I had to take a chance. But it turned out to fit perfectly. My window is really narrow and that helps it to have a very snug and clean fit. This was not my first choice, I wanted the GE one that goes over your window like a saddle bag, but my wall is too thick, and it would not fit. I only really needed an 8000 btu but, when the 10k btu actually costs $3 less and had faster shipping and better payment options, I had to go for the bigger one and we're very happy we did, because it cools down our bedroom super-fast and keeps it cool overnight and it's mostly on eco mode which is using less power than I expected. Function wise, the filter is easy to clean and swap out, you get a spare filter so you can put in a fresh filter and take the other out and have time to wash and have it drying. It was easy to install, and I can see it will fit well into most double hung windows. It has good features, works with Alexa, and can be controlled via LG ThinQ app. What I don't like: the side panels are not easy to install because the screw holes don't line up well and they are difficult to pull out to the width you need. The cord comes out of the unit on the RH side and it would suit my situation better to be on the LH side, or even better, just have a 9ft cord so you have some flexibility to connecting to power, every window AC only has a 6ft cord and I think this is a stupid limitation. Like every window AC that I looked at the instruction say to install it with at least a few degrees of angel toward the outside so if any water needs to drain it will go outside and not inside. Well guess what? Due to the way these go into your window with the bottom edge rested on the outer plane of the bottom window sill and the top edge holding against the inside of the window sash... THERE'S NO WAY TO CHANGE THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE AC IS INSTALLED...you can't make it tilted in either direction. So why make instructions telling people to make sure the AC tilts toward the outside if there's physically no way to change that angle? ... show more

    • Quiet and Effective
In the past I have used several cheap window AC units that, at the time, I thought were pretty solid. This LG unit is vastly better. First off this unit is relatively large and heavy compared to the cheap 5,000 BTU units and looks to have a much better build quality. When in use the LG is impressively quiet, the fan makes a gentle kind of whisper like noise thats very unobtrusive. Most AC units cycle their compressors on and off roughly every few minutes, this turning on/off of the compressor makes a distinctive that is generally pretty noticeable especially if you're trying to sleep. This LG unit (and other inverter AC units) can adjust the compressor speed without turning the compressor off so theres no abrupt noise change as the unit increases/decreases output. Maybe not a huge deal but I think its nice. This LG unit effectively cools 2 rooms (600 sq. ft.), with a fan helping circulate air, when its 90 *F outside so it seems to be pretty powerful. Based on the SEER rating it should use somewhere around 30% less energy vs. cheaper units so it should save money over the long term. ... show more

Total scam, sold me a used scratched up unit as new. Plugged it in immediately out of the box and received error message CH67, something to do with a blocked fan according to google. I called LG customer service who told me to check for sticks that had fallen in. Again, straight out of the box this unit had scratches and had been repackaged in plastic. No sticks were involved. Was able to contact amazon and arrange replacement and return pick up, which I'm thankful for. But I never should've received a used product when I purchased new. Its obvious this was a defective unit that had previously been returned. Now I have to get it uninstalled, back into a box, down the stairs, and coordinate pick up, all in a record breaking heat wave when I have my own life and job to go to. Services like amazon are supposed to made lives easier, not create this whole mess. I'm hoping the replacement they send is functional, but this headache was not worth the $450 ... show more
