I did a ton of research before purchasing, my biggest concern was if it would fit well into my window, it was not easy to determine this based on the company pictures and manual instructions, so I had to take a chance. But it turned out to fit perfectly. My window is really narrow and that helps it to have a very snug and clean fit. This was not my first choice, I wanted the GE one that goes over your window like a saddle bag, but my wall is too thick, and it would not fit. I only really needed an 8000 btu but, when the 10k btu actually costs $3 less and had faster shipping and better payment options, I had to go for the bigger one and we're very happy we did, because it cools down our bedroom super-fast and keeps it cool overnight and it's mostly on eco mode which is using less power than I expected. Function wise, the filter is easy to clean and swap out, you get a spare filter so you can put in a fresh filter and take the other out and have time to wash and have it drying. It was easy to install, and I can see it will fit well into most double hung windows. It has good features, works with Alexa, and can be controlled via LG ThinQ app. What I don't like: the side panels are not easy to install because the screw holes don't line up well and they are difficult to pull out to the width you need. The cord comes out of the unit on the RH side and it would suit my situation better to be on the LH side, or even better, just have a 9ft cord so you have some flexibility to connecting to power, every window AC only has a 6ft cord and I think this is a stupid limitation. Like every window AC that I looked at the instruction say to install it with at least a few degrees of angel toward the outside so if any water needs to drain it will go outside and not inside. Well guess what? Due to the way these go into your window with the bottom edge rested on the outer plane of the bottom window sill and the top edge holding against the inside of the window sash... THERE'S NO WAY TO CHANGE THE ANGLE AT WHICH THE AC IS INSTALLED...you can't make it tilted in either direction. So why make instructions telling people to make sure the AC tilts toward the outside if there's physically no way to change that angle? ... show more

Best investment ever for the summer. Air conditioner is quiet, effective and although used in a larger open space than the BTU was meant for, it cools and dehumidifies great. Dual inverter technology works great although start up is a bit slow. Also heavy like a Friedrichs due to the dual inverter. Have to see how long this LG will last as I've only had it for a month. Using it every day so we'll see how cost efficient it is at the end of the month. Filter door opens out in front so very easy to take out and wash and love the look of the solid door. It intakes air through the bottom and sides of the door. I don't use the remote or WiFi features so can't comment. It's easy enough to get up and walk over to turn it on and off and adjust fan strength and temperature. ... show more

    • Be careful. This LG was a DUD
Be careful--- ordered this LG and hired someone to install it because it's heavy. Plugged it in and turned it on....clunk, clunk, clunk.......smell of burning rubber......nothing. Total dud. Amazon immediately agreed to fully refund the unit as you would expect. But, what a major hassle and expense to have it installed and then taken out. I'm now waiting for UPS to pick it up and return for a refund. So much for having an AC ready to go for the 90 degree temp we're having. The unit I bought from Amazon before this LG was a Midea. It was recalled a day after it was installed because of a faulty drainage system that could cause mold to spew out......same huge hassle of paying to have it installed, and then taken out of the window because of the recall. Value for money: Well worth the money, Has a self cleaning option as well, super easy installation. I do recommend getting a window brace to hold it. Works great, quieter end of Ac units I have used, love that.

This AC is great. The build quality is top notch and the motor inside is fairly quiet! The dual inverter does help a lot. I also own an LG washing machine with the same dual inverter tech. Cools my room in less than 20 minutes! I did have to purchase a support bracket for it because it is quite a heavy machine with a large bum. I would not recommend installing this without a support bracket. I still give it 5 stars because the unit itself is solid. Would recommend purchasing if you want a reliable, moderately quiet AC. ... show more

Amazon deleted my old negative review. I have no clue why, I did not break a single guideline but I got an email saying my review broke guidelines, annoying but whatever. That being said, it's allowed me to come back and make a new review, and actually I had a slight change of heart. (Pls don't delete this review Jeff). Anyways, last time I gave this a 2 star, I was really upset because the installation is trash and NOT easy like it advertised. Blah blah blah, I'm not gonna go into detail like I did last time but basically they give you two thin L brackets to balance the unit on, it's an awful design, and not EASY. That being said, I installed it DIY style, put some brackets up, drilled some extra holes, once I got it up and turned it on, I could see why people like this thing. It runs...really well. It's not loud, it cools FAST, has great smart features, so I have it set to turn on only at night, thanks to the duel inverter it doesn't turn on suddenly, it stays on but will cool more or less to keep the temp steady, it's a nice window AC unit. If you can figure out a good way to install it, it's the best windoe ac unit I've ever owned. ... show more
