  • Great company!! (Was: Failed after 2 months)
Capacity: 4TB Style: SSD
UPDATE: My original review is below. If you read it, you can probably tell I was done with this product. But the manufacturer reached out to me to make this right. They never asked me to change my review, but based on their actions, I feel I owe it to other customers to update this...as well as to Leven. They voluntarily replaced the drive with a new one! The new drive is working 100% perfect after some stress testing. So my original impression was related to the unit I received...not a general assessment of their product line. Working with Leven to return the faulty drive and coordinate the new unit was super easy. This is a good company standing behind their product! -------------- Original review ---------------------- I purchased the 4TB version to use in a Proxmox virtualization server. Upon initial setup, it worked great. But after ~2 months of use (and after the return window closed), the drive began having issues. It heated up so it began to stop responding to the controller and I encountered many many errors & timeouts. I finally replaced the drive with a Samsung 2TB ... smaller, but I couldn't afford the larger 4TB. So now I have a useless $300USD flaky drive. So frustrating... ... show more

  • Buyer Beware
Capacity: 2TB Style: 2.5" SSD
I purchased this SSD back in April of 2021 after the HDD in my laptop failed and needed to be replaced. Immediately upon installation of the SSD and Windows, I noticed my laptop was extremely sluggish and slow, which it had not been prior to installation. However, due to lack of knowledge/experience, I contributed the slowness to my previously failing HDD and potential problems it may have caused by failing. Knowing that SSD's are meant to be much faster than HDD's, I did not think that the newfound slowness was due to the SSD I had just purchased. I then decided to stop using my laptop altogether, as it was so extremely slow it essentially made my laptop unusable; it would take 5+ minutes just to get to the login screen after a reboot, and another 15+ minutes once I was finally signed in before I could actually do anything (and I mean literally anything). My laptop then sat, unused, for the better part of 3 years, up until the last few weeks when I needed to bring it out again in an attempt to use it. Still under the assumption that the SSD could not be the culprit due to it being essentially brand new, I decided to troubleshoot my laptop in every way I could, in an attempt to speed it up; to no avail. I tried ending tasks that were nonessential, disabling apps from startup, even upgrading the RAM, yet nothing made a difference. During this process, I also began to notice that my disk usage was almost always at 100%, even when nothing was opened or running. And in the rare occurance that it was NOT at 100%, any action made, such as opening Chrome, would cause the disk usage to jump to 100%. It was at this point I began to wonder if the SSD was failing and decided to purchase a new one (note: I purchased the Samsung 870 Evo 2TB SSD this time around). Upon arrival and replacement of the Leven JS600 2TB SSD, my laptop was IMMEDIATELY much, much quicker and snappier. Since the replacement of this SSD, I have had zero issues with the speed of my laptop, and it is once again stress-free when wanting/needing to use my laptop. It is also worth noting that I emailed Leven, inquiring about a potential refund, as it states on Leven's website that they offer multi-year warranties; however, nearly a week later I have yet to hear anything back. I would stray away from this SSD and would HIGHLY recommend purchasing an SSD from a reputable maufacturer such as Samsung, SanDisk, Kingston, or Crucial. ... show more

  • Worth the price
Capacity: 4TB Style: SSD
Bought 4 of these to upgrade my media server as my old 1tb hard drives were getting full and it was cheaper then buying a new NAS drive. My Nas drive only has 4 ports for a rack mount NAS and its now at 16 tb vs 4 tb. Speed test were what they claimed and size was what they claimed. No complaints all 4 worked as intended. ... show more

  • I can only give 4 stars.
Capacity: 2TB Style: 2.5" SSD
UPDATE: Received my replacement drive today, popped it in (same slot as previous drive) and had it initialized and formatted withing a matter of about 30 seconds. Conclusion: Don't buy if you are in dire NEED of a SSD. DO buy if you are wanting to swap a working disc or upgrade storage. Good drives, but I had a bad (NEW) one, out of box. My first purchase was a great experience! I know another consumer stated they performed a stress test that killed the drive when trying to process 2TB of data. I've used it for gaming and storage and it's been great for both. I purchased a second 2TB SSD and was excited to have the expanded storage for even more computer hobbies. However... I discovered the second drive I received was faulty... As in, Windows recognized it for the first minute of loading and then the device disappeared from Device Manager (or Disc Manager, or other disc partition applications), I was unable to initialize > format > use the drive because of this... I was replacing a drive when installed, so I knew the cables and connections were already good, but I attempted to swap cables and swap SATA ports with no luck. As I continued to troubleshoot and restart the PC each time it seemed like the drive was gone more quickly. Until finally it just wouldn't show up in BIOS, Disc Manager, or Device Manager. When I unplugged it it felt very warm near the ribbon cable connection. I also touched the active LEVEN 2TB (I've had for a few months) and it was cool to the touch. That was enough for me to deem this a faulty drive. Waiting for a replacement. That being said, this drive is currently a 50/50 on will it work, but as far as WORKING performance, I'm still very pleased with the drive. ... show more
