No surprises (which is good) - the fixture provides a lot of light and that the motion detector head can be easily aimed and tuned. We replaced a 1970s-era soffit-mounted bulb-in-bottle lamp and the improvement was er... "night and day." For our application the adjustable "wing" panels were helpful in that we could aim one of them toward some stairs-- which was a great safety improvement. The motion sensor can be inverted depending on the orientation of the fixture (wall vs soffit) - it definitely works best with the control knobs facing down.

I received two lights and installed them both on the back of my house. The one worked perfectly with the dusk to dawn setting but the second light would not work on that setting. The motion detector does work so its essentially a back up and will come on if there is motion detected while the other remains on all night. I like the lights but I think there is a quality issue with the settings for dusk to dawn feature.

I bought this because of the dual-brightness feature where it stays on all night on low and when motion is detected it switches to bright for the amount of time configured. I did some calibration and for my use it seems to work fine. Simple to install and did not take too long to configure the proper settings. One note, when it detects motion it gets brighter immediately, my neighbor has an older non-LED type unit where it slowly increases brightness when motion is detected. I thought I would not like the "instantly brighter" way this works but actually I like it better, since it gives the impression someone turned on a light switch to check out what is going on. It's nice when I park in the driveway it gets brighter too. As others have said, it is pretty bright, so beware of that. My neighbors are across the street so they are pretty far away, and I aimed it slightly down. The low brightness with no motion is bright enough without being too bright.

I only had it installed for about 1 week now in front and just above my garage doors and use the motion/timer/dim mode. Pro's They are very bright and the light floods a large area. They are almost blinding when pulling into the driveway. Plus its 5000K and not the crazy white 6000K. The dim mode is a nice feature. Mine are wired to a switch and the turn off/on within 2 seconds feature seems to work without issue. Con's, The water-tightness of the light seems well designed but if you do not have box to install this on like I my installation, where the previous light was mounted right to the cedar siding, you will probably not be able to install it without major surgery to the light. I had to dremel out the plastic housing on the back of the light so there was enough room between the back of the light and the wall for my incoming wiring and the wirenuts. There goes my warranty! This let me still use the foam insulation ring. Since my previous light was up for 7 years under the soffit and showed no signs of water damage I wasn't too concerned this one will have issues. I needed a light and wasn't going to return it so I I hacked it up. As one reviewer experienced. The joints for the lamps and the sensor work but are not tight. Tightening the joint screw had no affect as I could not tighten it more. They stay in position for the time being but we'll see. Neither bad or good. The sensitivity seems to be good. I set the sensor almost level and it activates the light when walking about 5 feet out from under the light and seems to extend at least 50ft down my slanted driveway. The Dim feature is nice but would be better if it was changeable and could be a little dimmer, almost by half. The dim feature is why I really bought this light.

Updated 9/21/22: LEPOWER contacted me via Amazon after seeing my review. They suggested a few things to check, none of which solved the issues. They have decided to send me a replacement unit which is on the way. I will update this review if the replacement unit also has the same problems. I appreciate their effort to resolve the problem. Responsive customer support goes a long way as there is no way for a company to completely avoid defective units, especially at these price points. The dusk to dawn feature is inconsistent. The light stays on even on bright summer days. works correctly some of the time. Adjusted the settings and cleaned the sensor carefully, but it has been unreliable. The dim mode feature fails a majority of the time. The light comes on in dim mode but once motion is detected, stays at the brightest setting until the next mode change kicks in (e.g. a dawn event). I bought the light for these two features. Unfortunately, I installed it a few weeks after buying it, so out of the return window. The positives are easy installation and the brightness of the bulbs. They do cover a lot of area.

This light is durable and easy to install. Adjusting the detection area, aiming the lights and setting the 'on' duration only took a few additional minutes. Detector is sensitive and picks up movement in the area very quickly and the light is super bright! Very happy with my purchase.
