My husband thought this would be a lot of fun, especially for my 7yo. When he read the label on the front of the box, he starting thanking me and jumping up and down. He immediately unpacked it and started assembling without my help. It didn't take long for him to need assistance though, the cam lock on the mid shaft was jammed up the wrong direction. I ended up having to use a thin screwdriver to hold it down while I inserted the lower shaft... be careful when installing and don't force them together! I was really impressed with everything this came with: headphones, hefty/foldable trowel/pick, really nice travel bag. We've never had a metal detector before, and the instructions for operation are a bit confusing, but my son seemed to act like he knew what he was doing. He went out in the yard and came back 20 minutes later with a quarter (I later found that he was the one who had buried the quarter a few months ago, I wondered how he had found something so fast), but he did say that the metal detector worked for helping him pinpoint exactly where it was. I saw a tapcon in the dirt and we tried to "detect" it, and it didn't work... so not sure if the coating on stainless steel keeps the detector from working. It seemed to detect other things though, so I'm going to say it was a success. It def kept my son busy for a little while, and I got some baking done.

Never had a metal detector before. This is a nice one to start with. Some what easy to assemble. Sliding the two poles together was not as easy as it should have been. Testing this out with my keys . It found them. Can't wait to search a beach and see what I find.

Its a great starter unit, easy to assemble and even comes with batteries. The use is a little tricky but go on youtube and look for metal detector videos and you will understand more how to use this. For the price its great to learn on before graduating to a more expensive unit. Definitely can recommend.

We got this so I could have some fun with my grandson. The quality of parts is pretty good. The system comes with a storage bag, a folding shovel/pick, the metal detector with earphones, and two 9v batteries. Ther are 4 modes of operation. - All metal mode to detect all types of metal - Discrimination mode (which is suppose to eliminate unwanted metal, but I'm going to have to use this a bit more to get the hang of this mode) - Notch mode can eliminate any specific unwanted metal target (again, I need to use this more to become better at it) - Pin Point mode which helps you zero in on a target once you get a hit. I'm not going to kid you, you need to use this for a while to get used to the modes and how it responds to metal hits in the ground. We buried a few coins to practice on, and it took us a couple of hours till we 'got the hang of it'. But, the unit is really nice, and the quality is very good, so we are pleased with this purchase. Disclaimer: I'm not an experienced metal detector user. This is our first one, so we are using it to learn. But as I said, as far as the material and workmanship, this is a solid unit. I just have to become better at understanding the signals (it is an art as much as it is a science). Hope this helps!

My wife's sister lost her wedding ring at the beach. She called me and I found the ring quickly. There is some assembly required but easy instructions. Made very well, good price and fast delivery. I definitely recommend this product
