Clock was a total dud right out of the box...at first. It would run for a few minutes or so and quit. I had the feeling that perhaps there was some disconnect between the hands and the hands shafts and maybe the quartz movement. I thought, could the hands just be loose or something? I gently turned (in a clockwise direction) the cap on the end of the hands shaft until it met some resistance within the quartz movement. Whatever that did, did it! The clock has run and kept perfect time ever since. I canceled the return. I'm happy it worked out. I was looking for an open frame clock that would not conceal the brick wall that it hangs on, in a size that fit the existing space (replacing a previous defunct clock). Facts first: It is NOT a silent clock, you can hear the ticking. The time is accurate. If you can read analog, it is very easy to read even from across the room. The paint quality (full story below) is 50-50 hit or miss. I loved the clock, so I recycled the box before I assembled (it was garbage day & a big box!) but, that lead to many trials & tribulations trying to get replacement clock hands, because one of my gold hands had the paint peeling off. I thought I might be okay using the black, but I decided against it. My initial request to speak to the vendor was quick & fine… it took a long time to get them, and with the holidays I didn’t rush to open or assemble. Well. Turns out they were a different size & style & didn’t fit on the clock I ordered. They were gold, so I was going to try… The next time I tried talking to an Amazon rep, they were trying to just refund me & I insisted that I wanted to keep it, I just needed new gold hands. They eventually said it would be overnighted… It was not. I gave it time, because the first time took awhile. Eventually I talked to Amazon again & they sent a new entire clock, so I could get new hands & ship-back the items I wasn’t needing or keeping. 3rd times the charm, it looks AMAZING! So glad I persisted, and the 1st clock received was a fluke. I can (now) say it well worth everything! ... show more

This by far was the worst purchase I ever made on Amazon. The clock does not work nor can I return it because it stopped working after the 30 days return policy. The only thing that I can say is, I would give it a lesser rating if possible. Please note I did my due diligence attempted to change the battery several times just to make sure a battery issue wasn't it. It didn't work. It didn't keep time properly and it stopped working altogether. ... show more
