  • MIN/MAX FUNCTION. In Min/Max mode, you "sweep" the laser point into a corner. The longest measurement is recorded. Very useful for accurate diagonal room or window/door measurements.
  • AREA/VOLUME FUNCTION. In Area Mode, this laser distance measure determines the area of a rectangle or square in two shots. Volume Mode adds a third vertical shot to calculate volume.

I bought this mostly to quickly map out the floor plan of my new house. It works great! It is very accurate, often within 1/32" compared to my tape measure, at least over 6' spans or so. It is very easy to use. The bluetooth connection to the phone works well, but the app itself is not so great. It is lacking in features and has a lot of bugs (e.g. some types of wall openings don't show up in the 3D view). The ability to sketch a plan quickly and then add dimensions later is very cool, but sometimes when it is adding the dimensions, it chooses odd ways to constrain the drawing to fit and there is no way to fix it without starting over. ... show more

I use this in conjunction with MagicPlan to draw out and measure floor plans for real estate purposes. The E7100i is incredible! It's compact, easy to use, and the low power bluetooth function works perfectly with my Nexus 6, 7, and 10. Beats using a measure tape any day of the week for both speed and accuracy. I looked at a bilateral laser but it was too complicated and overkill. This laser is bright and operates with two button presses. I love that its small and easy to read. It's very accurate and does all I need. Very happy😊.

I have not had an opportunity to actually use this device too much in real-world, but I am an insurance adjuster and I've tested the device extensively within my own home. I also own the D810 Touch DistoMeter, but I was looking for something (much) smaller and more wieldly, enter the E7100i. First off, I would like to clear up the popular misnomer about this device, that it will not function via Bluetooth on anything other than iOS or Android. This is plain FALSE. After much tinkering, I have found that the E7100i does indeed work seemlessly with the Leica Disto Transfer PC/Windows software. This program must be opened during operation, but it does record each and every measurement taken. You can even fully customize how the command syntax is sent to your PC. A very nice touch. My only gripe is the fact that you cannot do continuous adding measurements (For kitchen cabs, countertops, LF of baseboard, etc). However, this can be solved with a manual addition/subtraction. If you would like further instruction on how to pair the device and make operative with PC, please ask me. Thank you. ... show more

Very nice tape measure. Easy to use. Not so sure on battery life, went through the first set pretty fast. May just be the cheap batteries they supply. Bluetooth synced right up with arcsite which is the app my company uses.

I love this Disto. I also have a Windows 8.1 Lenovo Yoga 2 10.1" tablet I was able to pair with and the tablet can run Google Sketchup, so as the Disto takes measurements it transfers the measurement directly into Sketchup, so I can draw a floor plan at the same time I'm measuring- I just point a mouse in the direction the next line should go and take the measurement and it draws the line at the exact length it measured. It is a lot more efficient than sketching the room on paper, measuring everything and jotting it down in pencil, then taking that to a PC to draft. Made accurately estimating my square footage for flooring a breeze! ... show more
