  • Light weight and very bright!!!!
Best headlamp I have ever bought! USB-C rechargeable. Headband fits comfortably and light can be removed and clipped onto the brim of a hat instead. Way better than the old head lamps from when I was a kid. Diffuser feature can be used for photography as well.

  • Take the specifications with a grain of salt, otherwise a great (if heavy) light
The manufacturer/designer implemented USB-C charging correctly, with the proper 5.1k pulldown resistors on the CC lines. This means it will charge from a USB-C PD charger or power bank. Bravo! The design is a bit awkward for a headlamp. Due to how far it sticks out, it has a fair bit of leverage. It feels heavier than it really is, and it's already not very lightweight. Because of this, it feels like it's going to pull my hat off, and isn't the most comfortable when on the strap. You do adjust, but it could be better. Clipping it directly to the headband helps, but that severely limits where you can angle it. I don't have a way to validate the 1200 lumen claim, but it's not nearly as bright as a 1300 lumen light I have. Either mode is plenty for working on something with your hands, though. The focused beam is enough to illuminate objects at a reasonable (50 feet or so) distance, but probably not enough as a primary light while biking. While the floodlight panel looks a little silly, it's bright enough to walk by. The size also makes it visible from far away. My only complaint is that its output is noticeably more purple than the main light. As for the red light, which is meant to preserve night vision, it's the perfect brightness. This product is very clever in how it handles modes. If you've been in one mode for a while, a button press turns it immediately off. You don't have to step through the remaining modes. Holding the power button adjusts brightness. When it reaches either the highest or lowest intensity, the light blinks once and pauses before continuing on. It's all small things, but make it feel rather polished. The battery indicator lights also shut off shortly after the light is turned on, so they don't waste power. Oh, and there's no dumb strobe mode, although the red light has an SOS mode. I ran the light until it was completely empty, and then charged it with a USB-C power meter in-line a few times. It shows that the light took in an average of 1340mAh. (This result will be slightly inflated, as it includes any charging inefficiency loss.) It also took roughly 2:45, both fall short of what is advertised. Even so, it took a LONG time to drain the battery when the light was in use. Material quality is surprisingly high, with all of the plastics feeling very sturdy. I thought the flip-up floodlight panel would feel flimsy, but it isn't. The clip has a hinge, allowing you to adjust the angle of the light. It swings far enough you could even attach it to a shirt pocket. Cleverness continues, as the clip has notches which engage with teeth on the headband to hold it firmly in place, and there's a hole to hang it by. The handsfree power mode works alright when using the elastic strap, but the sensor's positioning makes it difficult to use when the light is on a hat's bill. It would be better if they'd put it on front, like most other lights, instead of the side. Even though I don't feel this matches its advertised specifications, I can't help but like this light. (I take those numbers with a grain of salt on cheap flashlights, anyway...) There's some real thought put into how this unit is operates, and some really cool features. No seizure-inducing strobe mode, either, and it even handles USB-C PD properly! My only complaints are the weight, and the shape exacerbating that. For how well it's actually built, the price is pretty good. ... show more

  • Light duty occasional use only
it was good for a couple of months. May be fine if just using at home for projects. I used mine for work 6 days a week. Clip for hat ended up breaking

  • Great for night chores
I wear this headlamp for up to an hour while doing night chores, and it lasts several days before I have to recharge it. I usually run in red light mode, which uses much less battery than the bright modes. There are multiple light modes. You can have a tight, bright beam, or a slightly dimmer projection over a greater area, or both at once. The red light mode is nice because it doesn't attract annoying bugs, and I don't need to see very far while collecting chicken eggs or milking the goats. You can also set the red to blinking. You set the light mode by clicking one button multiple times, but after the light has been on for a second, it's nice that a single press will turn it off without having to cycle through everything. There's a second button that enables a motion sensor, which is triggered by waving a hand near the side of the lamp. Once you've selected your light mode, the motion sensor will always turn on the same mode. I found however that too often I move my head near an object which triggers the sensor, so I don't use that feature. The lamp is supposed to be waterproof, which I haven't put to the test as I haven't yet been caught out in the rain while using it. In any case, the rubber stopper over the power port is flimsy and way too easily pulled open by the lightest brush, so you'll want to put a piece of tape over it before using in a wet environment. The lamp can be worn via elastic band, or you can detach it and clip it to a hat visor, or you can detach it from the clip for a more comfortable hand-held device. I tried wearing the lamp clipped to my hat and found the weight too awkward. I usually use the headband, and then the adjustable hinge is stiff enough that it will stay where I put it. ... show more

  • Definitely not what it advertised
I don't know how they measured the lumens but it's not 1200. I have brighter dollar store lights. The value isn't that great once you consider other competitors in the price range. Battery life is about 2-3 hours from what I got out of it. It's only good points to me are size and weight are both low. I'll stick to my other options for now. ... show more

  • A good light but not as bright as claimed.
This is a good, general purpose light, but you wouldn't take it spelunking. I think the best feature is the red light. The red, versus white, light does not affect night vision, so your eyes don't need time to adjust when the light is turned off; you can see clearly as if there wasn't a light on at all. With white light, your pupils need time to compensate (get bigger to let in more light) for the lack of light when the white light is turned off (your pupils constrict in the presence of bright light). The ability to clip the light to a hat brim is a nice feature, but I usually wear the headband over my hat without incident. ... show more
